727 cakerie had been famous for its durian pastry. tried the durian puffs ($4.20 for a box of 6). the puffs were small but the fillings were rich. the whole puff is stuffed with solid durian fruit. the smell is really strong even before you open the box. its as good as eating a real durian fruit, save for the fact that there is a thin puff skin outside. the only minus point would be that you get the real ‘pulp’ in the fillings, which is harder than the durian fruit. some may feel that it adds to the texture while others would feel that it spoils the smooth texture of the fillings. well you have to try it and decide for yourself.
