818 Paradise Seafood House (WCEGA Tower)

This is one place I would not even expect a seafood eating house and there it is, like gold dust among the dark hard stones. 818 Seafood house serves up one of the best stir fried chinese cuisines. Like I've heard on some good days, you might even get a good dose of wild boar meat (Wild Pig's meat).

Parking is extensive and the place is rather run down but this got me excited as I know I might have straddled upon a gem in the cosmopolitan city such as ours. The smell of yummy food filled the air, savoury, fragrant, spicy and warm on a cool cool rainy evening. We quickly got settled into a large table as there are a big group of 11, ordered our beers and buried our heads in the oily and old laminated menu. The menu serves up pretty much the regular and have some really special flavours so we each ordered a dish we liked and the food is as expected... super yummy!

1) Cereal Squid (L) - $15 - is crispy and filled with oats however, the squid tasted tough and airy.

2) Spanish stir fried with Garlic (L) - $12 - Veg is a rich green, not too oily, of the right cooked state and crunchy.

3) Venison with onion and ginger (L) - $22 - Lots of Venison and the meat is tender, savoury and extremely delicious.

4) Prawn Omelette (L) - $12 - This is one large serving, egg is fluffy with lots of prawn and other condiments. always wondered how the omelette could be so light and fluffy!

5) Salt and Pepper Prawn (L) - $30 - Prawns were medium sized and very tastily prepared. Flavoured is well enhanced and ingredients used are fresh. Even the kids enjoyed it thus its not too spicy.

6) Sambal Mussles (L) - $15 - I'm not quite a fan of these shellfishes yet this one is not sandy like the rest. Tasty chewy and the sauce was fabulous

7) Garoupa (1.2Kg) - $57.60 - Is a medium sized but extremely fleshy fish steamed in soya sauce (aka Hk Style). Its fresh, meaty and cooked right. The flesh is a bright tender white, simply perfectly made.

8) Crab in salted egg (1.4Kg) which made 2 crabs - $56 - is the best dish, super yummy, crab fresh and fleshy with orangy eggs. The sauce is sooo good, we almost slurp it all up.

9) Bean curds (S) - $10 we had 2 servings of this. The bean curd is particularly soft and bouncy as we were told was made by themselves. It is extremely yummy lightly fried for a crispy skin and drizzled on with a savoury meat sauce. This is a must have dish because I've never tasted a beancurd so soft yet with a fried skin before... Its extremely delicious, well made and must be by a very experienced chef.

The overall food experience was very good though the location was kampong, but like I say its like a GEM!

Will i return - FOR WILD BOAR MEAT! YES!!!
