1 Review for “Akira Japanese Restaurant ” - Restaurants
5
Located in the heart of town but away from all the bustling noise and honkings of vehicles, Akira sits in a lone one storey building, in front of the Emerald Mansion.
Despite its outlook, Akira serves reasonable priced buffets during lunch and dinner. Lunch is at $25 plus per head and it includes green tea (freeflow).
Everything in the menu can be ordered and cooking will be done on the spot. So that means you can have countless plates of sashimi and as well as teriyaki, handrolls and tepanyaki delights! (BEAT that! You don't have to pay any extras for your 'red plates'!) The menu is for yours to hold on to until you have finished your lunch, hence you order as and when you want throughout the buffet.
It is best to take green tea as a beverage during the buffet although they do serve iced water and sake but it is most important to remember to avoid ordering the canned drinks! They are $4 a can. Once there and if craving for desert, you might want to try their japanese sesame ice-cream or green tea ice-cream. They are extremely delicious but are priced at $6 for two scoops.
The restaurant is a cosy little home which provides good service and authentic japanese food. The master chef sits behind a counter of sashimi and prepares the dish whenever a order comes up, hence ensuring that the dish is as fresh as possible. The layout of the place is simple and very much like one of those little sheds in Japan.
The restaurant also have rooms whereby you can book and all in the style of a real Japanese eatery. Of course, it has its own washroom too, a very homely one indeed.
The only off-point will be that you might come out smelling like you have just visited the foodcourt and sat there for an hour. (That oily smell in your hair and clothes... you know what i mean)
To ensure seat availability, it is best to call and book beforehand. The restaurant is open daily but only from 11.30am to 2.30pm for lunch and 6.00pm to 10.30pm for dinner.
Sadly, the restaurant is moving soon as the emerald mansion has been en-blocked. Its quiet surroundings will be missed. Hence, to ensure you still have a lovely personal spot to enjoy authentic japanese food, flock down to Akira at your earliest convenience.
