Went to Astons Express at Bedok Central with friends for lunch two days ago, at first I thought it was a restaurant but to my surprise it was in a coffeeshop! I was wondering if it was another Botak Jones but oh well.
I ordered a Teriyaki Chicken($5.90) with fries and whipped potato as side dishes and 1 mushroom soup($2.50) with 2 pieces garlic bread. The Teriyaki chicken tastes quite good, it wasn't too hard or soft and it's easy to chew on, the sauce on it is perfect and I don't need any chili or tomato sauce for it. I'll give 4 out of 5 stars for this.
The fries was okay, it has those red chili spices on it similar to Botak Jones fries. This will be 3 out of 5 stars.
The whipped potato wasn't quite what I expected, tasted too plain and I prefer it to be much softer. This will be 2 out of 5 stars.
The mushroom soup was good, it wasn't too salty and they got the taste just right. 4 out of 5 stars for this.
The garlic bread on the other hand was cold so I had to dip into the soup to eat it. It don't taste as good if it was cold. 2 out of 5 stars for this.
Total amount spend? $8.40. It was overall a satisfied visit, I'll give this one a 3 star rating. I wish to try the breaded fish next time as my friend said it was good.

Will we go again? Perhaps.
Have always wanted to try Astons but the queue at Katong and Serangoon Gardens made us decide to eat somewhere else. So when they opened a branch at Bedok, it seemed like it was time to start queuing. The queue was not that long (I was like 6th in the queue) and it was moving. Waiting time was about 12 min after ordering so it was acceptable (for dining in a coffee shop).
Prime Ribeye Steak ($11.90) was done medium well. Redness was present and meat was tender and easily chewable which was what we were looking for in medium well. Fries and onion rings were served hot and in distinguishable pieces. Onion rings looked slightly burnt but I guess it could be due to the overused oil. :)
Pork Chop ($8.50) was served with mashed potatoes and garden veggies. Nothing much to say about the pork chops except that the portion was pretty generous with 2 large pieces. Average tasting.
Now I start to wonder why there is a queue in the first place. The food tasted average with nothing to shout about. Perhaps its because I did not order the most expensive prime cut? haha. I am not sure. But paying $25.90 for a plate of steak in a coffee shop is not something common. Unless eating zi char....but that is a different story.

My gal and I went to the joint some time 2 weekends ago. It was very near their closing time but the female staff who attended to us was very patient and answered our queries. Excellent.
Their location inside the coffeeshop is at the side and not facing the front. Their signboard is rather large so you probably won't miss it. They have quite a decent range of items in their menu but cannot compared with their main joint. I recalled they have about 4-5 different types of steaks? Depending on your order, the set comes with a option of fries, mashed potatoes, salad and a couple of sides. As with the main joint, the cutleries and serviettes were placed within a small wooden basket.
The medium done steak with fries and mashed potatoes combo tasted good tho not spectacular. The fries were great as usual, served hot, not soggy and the spices were spread evenly. Mashed potatoes was decent, not heavy in the taste. All in all, I felt the price was quite inline with overall set package, presentation and service. It's pricing is competitive compared to other western food joints withing the vicinity tho Botak Jones will give them a good match.
