My mum has never tried pedicure before, hence I decided to bring her for a pedicure session on Mother's day. I've passed by Scratch many times and always wanted to try their service. Called them few days before mother's day and managed to get an appointment set for Mum and myself in the evening of Mother's day.
The salon is very big and spacious. Brightly lighted by the natural light coming from outside. The place is kept clean and to the minimum. And the furnitures used are from Ikea. Another thing that's close to my heart.
The lady who attended to me is very outspoken and friendly. She's the supervisor of the place. If I'm not wrong, her name is Claire. She's very detail during the pedicure process. And she'll share tips on keeping our feet nice and healthy. The entire process was enjoyable and filled with giggles and laughter. She sure knows how to make her customers happy. And the final outcome of my feet was smooth and the nail coating on my toes were perfectly flawless! It looks like a new coat even after more than 2 weeks!
As it was Mum's first time doing a pedicure after more than 40yrs. And with her daily standing and soaking of feet in water, her feet has always been hard, peeling and dry. She has got very bad cracks on her leg too. After the pedicure and a spa wrap (in white chocolate!!), her feet is as smooth as baby's feet! She loved it so much, she couldn't stop feeling and touching her own feet after the session!
We were both very satisfied with their service and has signed up for their 6-sessions of pedicure. Looking forward to going back again soon.
This is one place we frequent when we dine at Ang Mo Kio. This outlet of Ramen Ten has been around for many years, and they've been constant with their food standard and service all these while.
Everytime I go, I'll order the same dish, the same drink and almost 90% of the time, I'll be sitting at the same table too! Ha!
My favorite from the menu is the Super Spicy Ramen that's served with minced chicken and lots of chili padi! When I'm hungry, I'll add $2 to get the big bowl (extra noodles). I'm a fan of spicy food and this one gives me the kick everytime I eat it! And to cool off the spiciness, I'll drink their homemade barley (cold).
Nice place with reasonable pricing and friendly service staff. Of course, I'll be going back again whenever I've got cravings for spicy ramen! :)
Cafe Domus is a hidden treasure which I simply adore! The location makes it special and unique in its own way.
Located along stretch of retro shop houses, the entrance to Cafe Domus may look simple and modern, but what's hidden within is a paradise for friends to chill and great photoshoots too!
I love the simplicity of the design and the clever use of its existing landscape to create a backyard that is so unlike the usual Singapore hangouts.
This is one place to go to chill and catch up with a group of friends.
*Anyone keen to do a photoshoot there? I want to do it!
Having tried small piece of the Unagi Pizza at Pastamania, I simply needed more. Since we were around one outlet, we decided to have our dinner there.
He ordered Aglio Olio Pasta, adding Chicken to it, and I had the Unagi Pizza.
The place was quite packed since it was a weekend. Thus we waited quite awhile for our order to come. Good thing we ordered the set that comes with soup, drinks and toast. Else I would have suffered from hunger due to the wait.
10mins later, the pasta came. Having paid extra for the chicken, it was quite a disappointment. The chicken was tasteless and it didn't go that well with the choice of sauce.
After a long wait, the pizza didn't come. He took his time to eat his pasta, but even so, the pizza didn't come after he finished his pasta! We checked with the manager on duty and he told us the pasta is coming soon. True enough, the next order that came out from the pizza counter was my Unagi Pizza.
Due to the wait, my tummy was already missing the hunger that it initially have. Looking at the pizza infront of me, I didn't quite have the appetite to finish it.
As expected, the pizza was nice and yummy when eaten hot. Taste of the sauce with the unagi and thin crust of pizza makes eating it enjoyable. (It would have been better if we didn't have to wait that long for it.)
After living around the area for ages, this is the first time that I visited Bliss restaurant over at Punggol Park.
The restaurant is hidden by trees thus it is kind of hard to spot when you are driving.
There is nothing really to shout about on the food. The usual American food. Stuff like Chicken, Lamb, Steak, French Fries, Oyster, Mussel etc.
They have a good selection of wine and beer though. 4 - 5 pages of them. This is something new to me.
As the place is quite small and near to the heartland, it is pack when I arrive around 8pm.
I ordered their special for the evening. Beef fillet with asparagus and mushroom. It turns out to be a finger dish. Nothing much to comment about the food since I did not order their main course.
I would definitely go back and try out their menu. The price is still quite acceptable in my opinion.
Guess I am not the only one having trouble booking sessions with them.
I sign up for a spa package with them almost 2 years ago after a trial session. As usual, the same promise that I can make a booking 3-4 days in advance for a massage session with the free usage of their hydro-bath.
There isn't any problems getting a slot for the first few session as the spa is still quite new and there isn't much members then. The nightmare starts after that.
Firstly, I am informed by the staff that booking needs to be done at least a month before hand. There isn't any letter or email informing me of the changes.
Then the staff handling my booking keeps hanging up on me or just simply refusing to pick up any calls. The person in charge of my account is always unreachable. So I am left stranded with a spa package which is of no use to me.
For the past 2 years, I have visited True Spa for less than 10 times. Whenever I called to check how much is left of the package, I am being asked to call the person in charge of my account.
I am sick and tired of all this. It does not surprise me if True Spa suddenly close down 1 day and there goes all my money.
My advise to fellow Yebbers is to avoid True Spa and True Yoga at all cost. Sign on the dotted line even God can't help you chase back your money.
I have been a faithful follower of Men's Health Magazine Singapore for quite awhile now.
There are a limited Men's magazine which caters to Asian man. Men's Health is one of my favorite.
As the title suggest, it's all about Men and their health. Not to mention how to build bigger muscles in the shortest time.
There are articles on the different exercise and training you can use to improve your stamina and target those hard to train muscles.
Training alone does not guarantee bigger muscle. Eating right is another important aspect that you need to look into. Look no further, you can find food and nutrients in Men's Health as well.
Looking good feeling good, but still single? No worries. There are articles on how to treat your lady right. How to behave during while the two of you are dating.
All this for SGD $6.00 . I think it is a good buy.
I enjoy reading the special edition digest that comes with Straits Times.
Digest like Digital Times, Urban and Mind Your Body are great addition which other papers fail to deliver.
Digital Times are available on Tuesday. This digest reports on the latest technology advancement in Singapore. How the internet and technology changes the way people live and interact with one another. A must read for me on Tuesday.
Urban caters more to the ladies. It feature tips on make up, fashion and great bargains. It's a sneak peek into the ladies world for the guys.
Mindy You Body as the name suggest gives you health tips on how to take good care of your body. Articles on major illness and how to detect them early are found in the digest.
Another I must read is the Saturday edition of Straits Times. There are ads from the major telecommunications company in Singapore with nice mobile phone and internet deals. This keeps me updated of the promotions different telecommunication company are having.
To avoid missing out my daily read, I decided to subscribe to the delivery service and have my Straits Times send to my door step every morning.
If you prefer to read your news online, you can always subscribe to their online version at http://www.straitstimes.com
I was the first to review about Cotton On in Yebber and the first outlet was in Wisma. I had loved it then and was very excited when I saw them having an outlet in Parkway.
I went the week they opened and also the following week.
The first time I went the place was rather messy and I forgave them since they had just opened.
But it was still pretty messy the second time and I was rather upset. Also the prices of the items seem higher now. I guess it's because more people are buying. That aside I still love their long tops.
There are two major gripes I have about this outlet. One is that the lighting is much too dim to see some colours properly.
The second is that the customer service people are too busy chatting to each other and they don't tend to the customers very much. This is part of the reason why the place becomes messy as the customers ransack to look for the right size.
MMmmM I guess I will still pop by if I'm in the area but I wouldn't go there specially to buy. :P
I had this plan for my "other" home. After much discussion when this plan was introduced, we decided to sign up since the mobile phones, telephone lines and internet were all under Singnet anyway.
We did save a lot in the long run... but...
Setting up triggered a lot of problems and we were without our phone lines and internet for 2 weeks. The MIO box gave quite a bit of problems. The repairman had to come 3-4 times and we had the box changed twice. We live in a private estate and were told that things will be fine in our particular estate. After the initial hiccups we were finally able to use the phone lines and the internet.
BTW you have to purchase a different kind of phone to be used with the MIO system.
Once we started to use it, we noticed that at times the phone doesn't detect the incoming call. Everything is working (when the repairman came to test it) but it just doesn't ring every single time we call. It would miss a couple of times. And there would be quite a bit of static on the line, which disrupts the call.
It could possibly be a line connection thing but Singtel should also be responsible for checking our lines when we had them install the system. I guess this one might take some time to settle.
FYI, Maxonline cannot be installed in my estate, according to their customer service rep.
Friendly staff, great service, lasting colors!
