I went to K-BoX to Sing last friday night.... It was fun and I was so impressed by the size of this thing.....
We were late.. and thats all because of the GAGA Girls I was with and then we couldn't find the right room, because the place is freaking huge...... I thought the K-Box at level 4 was huge, wait till you see the level 8 Branch..... Goodness.. this is Singapore, not MUMBAI.......
Since the GAGA girls are equally blur as me, we asked for room 26 at Level 4 even though we were repeatedly told its room 26 at Level 8. My clever brain thought the level 4 K-Box is huge enough and there could only be one. But as we were brought to the room 28 at level 4 I rushed in with a loud HELLO.... and I was greeted with 8 Strangers with SHOCK Faces.. Talk about most embarassing moments.
Then we proceeded to the level 8... and when the lift door opened...... WELCOME TO MUMBAI style K-BOX.... It was so huge and there were lotz of servers all around.. saying GOOD EVENING, HOW ARE YOU to us.... The room was a comfortable size for 8 or 10...
Songs were pretty updated with the newest singable mandaring and english songs. We didn't check out the hindi songs but I'm sure its as updated if not Better.... The common toilet was a screw up, but just don't drink so much, I think its fine. We had quite a great time and later into the night, our Hong Kong girlfriends went Crazy and danced on the couches threatening to Tuo Diao Tuo Diao......
Hm... I think that last point just invited a huge percentage of Singaporean men to visit K-Box at level 8 Cineleisure.. As such I shall stop here.....

I have a NDS Lite... In short its a 2 screened GAMEBOY. If you think that its a childish thing, then you should buy one and experience the sophistication of the technology especially crafted into this handheld equipment. I always wanted to protect the screens as I am not very gentle towards handheld equipments.
One faithful SUNDAY afternoon, I was shopping in FUNAN and I came across the screen protector i wanted to find in PK COMPUTERS PTE LTD. It is retailing at only $7.90, comes in exactly cut sizes and is of a pretty good quality.
It is easy to find screen protectors and it can get really cheap, but usually the cheap ones are not of good quality and most of the time you've got to place them on yourself. They come off easily and might harm your screen instead of protecting it. Especially when you have a touch screen, sometimes when we are excited we tend to be rather ROUGH on the screens and they are very expensive to replace.
I got the protectors and proceed to payment. After payment, the retail assistant asked if I brought my unit and proceed towards fixing the protector up for me. It was perfectly fitted on and I've never seen my NDS Lite so clean since day 1.
For those looking for screen protectors, I recommend PK Computers. Though they do not specialise in this but they did an excellent job in fixing it on. You can also play some games on their demo sets while waiting for them to get your protector on. So far, this is the only place i could find such good quality protectors at such value price.
For an even cheaper idea, you might want to stick on a piece of clear masking tape... Hee hee.....
I was walking by with my girlfriends one friday night heading to SING our HEADs OUT at the K BOX at cineleisure when my GAGA friend got distracted by a beautiful belt from VOOM Lifestyle. A booth outside WORLD OF SPORTS selling accessories and other stuffs.
I got a greater shock when i saw the price. A beautiful synthetic leather belt with embrodry was only going for less then $10. It was very nice, sweet and goes well with jeans or pants. My other GAGA friend who is an accessory craze got crazy over the ear rings. She was trying almost every design on. These ear dressers are only going for 2 for $5. Really a good bargain. They have all sorts of trendy designs, colours and even glam pieces for special occasion.
I was attracted by this beautiful pandent, shaped like a ring but its actually a metal crown. I was thinking..... "Wear a crown around your neck and feel like ROYALTY...."
There were many interesting and I should say special designs. Designs that creates controversy among your GAGA friends yet they cannot be commonly found anywhere. I always like to feel special somehow or rather.
Visit this shop and be special....... Oh yar.. Bring Along Your GAGA friends. What fun is shopping without the..
"OH... My... GOSH....."

Cotton On is a reputable Australian brand that sells plenty of basics at low prices! It had a super long queue in its store on a sleepy Monday afternoon, so you can take my word for it.
Plenty of basics and a good number of printed Tees to go too. They have all styles : spaghetti tops, tanks, short sleeves, dresses, bermudas, shorts, etc. ANd don't be mistaken, they have stuff for guys too.
You know what I love most about them? Their tops are LONG. Absolutely perfect for low waist/ hipster jeans. And they have plenty of promotions like 2 for $20 tops, and even $10 dresses and $5 slippers!
And every style comes in a good number of colours to suit everyone.
I was telling myself to save money... but I went in bought myself two tops for $20, another for $12 and a dress for $20 !! And no regrets really. I love all of them. :)
I'll definitely be back and hope you'll be there too!
Tonkichi Restaurant is a Japanese Restie situated in Isetan Scotts itself. It's on Level 4 where you find the household items. :) It was a little tricky to locate at first.
The ambience Pretty much normal. It was quiet this Monday afternoon. So I was really comfortable with that. The decor is the conventional Jap sorts, though it doesn't require you to kneel on the floor. Better for gatherings than romantic dates I'd say though. Good for business meetings where they have booths at the side for more privacy.
Food Ordered (All listed below were sets served with rice) Oyster Fry Prawn and Crab Chicken Teriyaki Ju (mine) Shoyu Rosu (pork) Katsu Dory (Fried fish curry)
I had the Chicken Teriyaki Ju. Honestly I didn't find it fantastic. It was better than some places I've been to but not the best certainly. The rice was good, soft and sticky. Just the way it should be. The chicken was crisp and well covered in the teriyaki sauce. The sauce was pretty much like those you find in the supermarkets but it wasn't diluted (at least). It was going for $18 complete with the appetizer which I refused to try because the meat didn't look like chicken ( I only eat chicken and fish) and miso soup (of course.)
My other companions didn't have any problems with their food. I tried some of the pork tenderloin. It was ok, but had some fatty bits in it which is the reason why I try to stay away from pork. They all loved the oyster fry though. Could see that it looked really good though I couldn't have it today as my skin was acting up.
The service The staff was quite alert, filling up our cups time and again. But then the restaurant was pretty empty so that would have been expected. The tea was barely warm so it turned cold really fast. But everyone was all smiles and they were very polite so that was good.
The damage $111 for 5 people. I would say reasonable at about $22 per person.
I had the impression that Pet's Lovers Centre was this chain store thing that was really expensive and un-feeling about pets because they generally do not sell pets (except in Simei).
But I was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit there last week. Was there to look for some stuff for my Rabbit and wasn't quite sure which litter pan to get as there was quite a few to choose from. The salesperson who approached me was very friendly and he shared with me his experiences with HIS rabbit. He gave me plenty of nice tips on what I can do to resolve my problem too. Showed me some stuff but did do any hard-selling.
The variety in the store is quite wide and they are willing to order stuff in if they do not have it at the moment.
Price-wise, I was surprised to find that they are cheaper than my regular pet-shop. About a dollar cheaper for my rabbit's food.
Oosh is a Japanese Restaurant located at Dempsey Road. It also serves up some fusion fare and western stuff. After some recommendations from friends, I decided to try it out.
It's been sectioned into different places The Bar - Alfresco Bar overlooking the Garden The Cellar - where you find fine wine and mingle Yen Dining - the conventional Jap Restie with the sushi counter The Roof - for chillin The Trellis - Enclosed little enclaves in the open area The Terrace - A Pavilion for finger food tastin The Lookout - A platform where you can see the entire place The Garden - Alfresco dining area The Deck - for functions
All the places are tastefully decorated and very cosy looking. Ambience is superb whether you're there on a date or for a gathering or even a casual dinner with clients.
The Garden Experience Out in the open, save for some bugs around, it was very nice dining under the stars and warm cosy lighting.
The Food : Garlic Shrimp, Stewed Oxtail, Sausage Pasta and Yuzu Sorbet.
The Garlic Shrimp was a tad bland for my taste. It wasn't even as well presented as it looked in the menu. Definitely not worth ordering.
My Sausage Pasta was average with little bits of garlic which didn't quite help in the taste. It wasn't bad either. But it could've been my cooking on a good day.
My companion commented that the Stewed Oxtail was just average as well. He's definitely had better ones.
The one thing that we loved was the Yuzu Sorbet. Well me more than him. A delightful dessert to end an average meal.
The Service: Pretty slow really. Was it too dark that they couldn't see us waving? The food only came after a couple of reminders and smiles were really few and far between.
The damage : about $70 for the two of us. A little ex for average food but if you consider the great ambience, I guess it's alright.
Conclusion: Not sure if I would go back. Maybe for chilling and drinks but not for food. :) The damage :
After a whole day without food, we went to Sakura for buffet dinner. Each pax $28 7%gst on weekends and $26 7%gst on weekdays. Price wise, its considered one of the cheapest buffet around. Serving quite a wide spread of Japanese food (sushi, sashimi, tempura, tepanyaki etc), Dim Sum, Chinese cooked food and yummy cakes.
We've been there many times for their high-tea buffet which consists of just sushi and sashimi. This was our first for their dinner. And we were satisfied with the entire experience. The food is good (not very good), taste wise still alright (after eating that much, the taste just blended) and the choices were alright for the price.
Can take a peep at what they serve in the photos I've uploaded. These are just 1/3 of what they have there.
Shoppers Rainbow is a local blogstore selling fashion from Taiwan and such. Their site is well-kept and comprehensive. They also organise sprees and allow pre-orders on items.
Although they don't have a very wide variety of items ( I expect them to "expand" soon) but their replies to tags and emails are very prompt. They are also very polite and make an effort to update their customers or taggers regularly. I think in terms of service that's good. They also do not give information which they are unsure of to unsure that no one is unhappy. :) Great people!. Do pay them a visit. :)
I love GV@ Vivo too! But the rest are absolutely right. You definitely need to make bookings to get your tickets. I love GVmax with it's ultra wide screen.
It's always bustling with people so if you want to get popcorn and stuff you'd better be there early. I love the seating with plenty of leg room.
It's never too cold. and the food is always cooked. (i've eaten hotdogs which aren't before and had food poisoning.)
I have one major gripe though. There only one restroom with 3 lousy cubicles. On weekends it can really be hell queuing before a movie. ANNNDD if you are watching at GV max you would have to go in to the other side for the restroom.. come out again to enter into GVmax on the other side. URGH... Why can't they have more loos! Can you imagine if you had to go in the middle of a movie.
Oh yes one more gripe.. one of the cinema exits.. lets us out into unfamiliar place... and I got really lost trying to look for our car. haiz.
