The Chirstmas Spirit Is Still In There   vodka-passionfruit with sprite
Went to the branch at circular road, after counting down to 2008, reached there at about 1.30am. Heard much reviews from friends about that place being very interesting, one main factor is because it’s a sub-zero bar, and the walls are like fitted with large ice blocks. Anyway, I went in, the place was fully-packed, but we soon found a place to seat at the sub-zero bar, I guess it’s too cold for people to hang on long that’s why there are places in the sub-zero bar. We have about 4 people drinking, and we ordered a vodka passion-fruit with sprite and 2 bottles of Heineken, total costs about 100dollars. The vodka passion-fruit was refreshing to me, perhaps because it’s my first time drinking such a drink, because usually I drink beers as compared to other alcoholic drinks. But I find that the alcohol content in the drink is slightly little, but besides that, everything’s nice, it’s a nice cool place to chill out, with good music, great temperature, and a nice drink.

    2. Comfort Taxi

I shall post this review as a general review, because basically i am not targeting only comfort taxi, but rather all the cab operaters in singapore. What a start to the new year i would say, went to drink at circular road yesterday night after countdown, after that, we thought by walking down to lau pat sat, there will be more cabs, so we walked down, and started waiting, we waited for about 2 whole hours, and not a single cab in sight, all the cabs are either on call or hired, and the best part of the "hired" cabs, there's no one in there. The whole network calling is also total bullshit, pardon me for using such strong words, but i am just trying to reflect the kind of dissapoinment filled with anger at the moment of time. After the taxi fare-hike, we passengers expect a easier time to wait for taxis, there's more cabs around, seems that it isn't this way, shouldn't something be done about those drivers who purposely put their call sign on call, and earn the extra 4bucks, because when we finally called a cab, the cab arrived in less than 1minute, which means its either he so coincidentally was plying the area, or he is "camping" in the area, when we board the cab, i gave no reservations to the driver, and i asked him how come you cab drivers are all on call, and than he was like defending those cab drivers, say don't have, than i was like, its because you drivers want to earn the extra 4dollars right, and he just kept quiet after that, perhaps my tone was abit harsh, plus abit of drunkness in it, but i am still sober enough to rationalise the logic behind this whole thing, work ethnics are vauled everywhere, should there be one for cabs as well.

that must have been a really uncomfortable ride for you and the taxi driver after that. At least he didn't argue with you.

I chatted with some taxi drivers and they said it was hard to find customers after the price hike... And I did cut down on taxi taking. So, I think it should be easier to get a taxi now

Sutra Special Set 1   Sambal Chilli ( Photo Not Well Taken )   Sutra Special Set 2
Went to mediacorp to collect some things in the morning, than proceeded to Adam Road Food Centre with my friend for breakfast after that. I know it's kinda funny and embarassed saying this, but this is actually my first time there. And i was quite surprised to see alot of stalls selling Nasi Lemak, easily there were at least 10stalls selling Nasi Lemak, at some even selling side by side. Anyway, my friend knew the place and she brought me to this small stall located at a corner, Adam's Nasi Lemak.

Apparantly, the stall must be of serving nasi lemak of some standard from the many reviews on the stall, and while we were queeing up for the nasi lemak, i could already smell the fragrance of the freshly fried chicken wings, anyway, i ordered a Sutra Set $4 for ( rice, chicken wing, fishcake, ikan billis, otah, chilli and egg )

Let me comment on each of the different items, first comes the rice, the rice is fragrant, and the grains are full and plump, and each grain is separated from one another, unlike some where the rice is like those sushi rice, sticky. The portion of the rice is also not meagre, it's sufficient.

Next, the chicken, firstly its piping hot, next as i had mentioned above, the chicken is very fragrant, when i sunk my teeth into the chicken, you can hear the " crr crr " sound, the crsipiness of the chicken, also the juices of the chicken just oozes into your mouth, sedap! if i am not wrong, they put curry powder and some other spices into the marination.

The otah however is not as good as the chicken, the otah is quite thin, but the filling is quite generous, you can actually really taste chunks of fish, the seasoning is not too bad, spicy enough, although i had prefer it to be hot.

The ikan billis is with the roasted peanuts, and the ikan billis and peanuts is very crispy, very crunchy. The peanuts and ikan billis is also not too salty, and the seasoning is just nice.

Now comes the main star, the chilli, the sambal chilli one word, SHIOK! it's spicy enough, the spicyness of the chilli is just so great, that you will want to yearn for more, just that's it's in the morning, and i am afraid of a stomach upset, i did not ask more, if not i will ask for a second serving of chilli.

Also the stall looks very clean and tidy, it's quite hygenic also i think, given the A rating by the NEA. The service of the stallholder which is a elderly couple is also good, they are very friendly and looks very approachable.

Overall, great nasi lemak, the best chilli and good chicken as well, must try guys. It's quite cheap as well, $4 for quite alot of ingrdients.

Lamb Shank Pasta   Hazlenut Chocolate Tart
Galbiati Gourmet Deli, located along upper bukit timah road, it's a clean and cosy deli tucked in a quiet neighbourhood. Went there today with my cousin for dinner. The whole place looks very italian, perhaps due to the fact that the owner is an italian himself, anyway when you walked inside, you will be welcome by this wide array of cold side dishes, from olives to zucchini to many more, there is also a counter selling various tempting desserts and one more counter selling beverages, also there's a pizza counter.

Well, so we ordered a hawailan pizza to share, i ordered a lamb shank pasta, hazlenut chocolate tart. First, i shall comment on the pasta, firstly the portion of the lamb shank is quite huge, and the lamb shank is very tender, yet when cut, the meat does not become so brittle, it's just right. Next, the pasta sauce is a tomato-based sauce, with tomato chunks, mushrooms, the sauce is not too thick and also not too thin, it tastes a compliment of sweet and sour, although i had i prefer it to be sour abit. The pasta is this green type of pasta, i am not sure what it is called, is this green rectangular noodles, when complimented with the pasta, there's just one word, delicious. I also tried the Carbonara which my cousin ordered, It's this cream-based sauce pasta, with roasted ham on top, the pasta sauce is fantastic, very creamy, soothing and also very sinful. The pasta goes very well with the sauce, and the portion is not too big as well, i guess because you will get sick of eating too much creamy stuffs. Next comes the pizza, the pizza's crust is thin and crispy, the ham is tender and looks fresh, while the pineapple is juicy, the only thing i would prefer is to make it more cheesy. For my dessert, i ordered a hazlenut chocolate tart and also tiramisu, the tart was just simply gorgeously sinful. The taste of the chocolate and the hazlenut with the tart is just shiok!, you will get that type of this is what life's indulgences are all about, the tiramisu is also very good, creamy, the coffee taste is there, soft and spongy,

Overall, very good food, i'm sure to make a return visit, the best part, no gst, service charge all at nett price, good service. The price is quite reasonable also, think my pasta cost 18bucks, and tart cost 5bucks, really money worth it.

Since its located just opposite my school, and i have long heard about my friends saying how good, how fantastic Botak Jones is, and of course as a food enthusiast, i would not give up a chance of having to savour such highly reccomended flavours, i went there one day after school with my friends to try. My verdict, i was kinda dissapointed, perhaps my expectations of them were too high, but i was really kinda dissapointed. I still remember their slogan " damm good food at a damm good price " : i would agree to the damm good price part, because the portions are big, and it's quite economical, but as for the damm good food, i guess its all up to oneself, at least not for me.

Anyway, i ordered a Cajun Chicken, can't really remember the price, think its about $7-$8, anyway i waited for about 15minutes for the food to come, served with coleslaw and fries, the portion is huge, comparable to those sold in U.S anyway, i tried the coleslaw first, and i would say, its good, very crunchy and refreshing. The fries were crinkle-cut fries, with some kinda powder on top, if i am not wrong its either chilli powder or red pepper powder, anyway the fries is good as well, hot and crispy, very unqiue kind of taste. The funny thing is this, the side dishes are great, but the main dish is a dissapointment, the chicken was tender but dry, i would prefer if there were juices in the chicken, also i feel the marination of the chicken is not enough, its as though only the outer layer is being marinated, the inside is white and dry, i mean i know its supposed to be white, but certain cajun chickens i have tried elsewhere, when you slice the chicken, there is fragrant smell of spicy peppery smell.

Overall, good side dishes, poor main course. good price, location wise, if you are familiar, it's rather easy, if not would take some time finding the place, another plus point, service staffs there are very friendly and attentive, they will also ask for feedback which is a good point.
