Well of course that can't be my review, so let me elaborate more.
Firstly, I would say they have excellent service! They have 2 really friendly salesperson, especially one very outspoken lady, Margaret. She may not be the person with the best fashion sense, but she's good enough to suggest what are more suitable clothes for yourself. She is a salesperson after all, and so of course she has to push her products. But I like the way she does it, in a manner that's not too much that scares people away.
Secondly, this place has really uniquely designed clothes (and for women of all age groups!). I did hear that all these were self-designed. Local products I guess. But it's nothing inferior at all. Wonderfully designed, with tops, bottoms and skirts. For people who look for exquisite sequences, they have it. Wear sequences in a fashionable way! They've got skirts too, with or without sequences. Unique designs, not something I'd say is very common. They've got pants too. What I really like about these pants are that they are (ok, really easy to wear. No zips nothing. Just wear it!) made of really soft material that suits people with different body shape. Big hips small butt whatever it is, you will suit this pants for sure. The cottony feel is soft on your skin and falls down nicely. It's pretty heavy material, but that is why it covers little "flaws" in your body (women will understand this.. ;) )!
Thirdly, the price! I'd say it's not too expensive, with almost everything ranging from 20 to 60, but most of their items are in the 30 range. A good buy I'd say.
For people looking for a different trend, a diversion away from that princess-like dresses or long-tops with leggings etc, this place would be good. It could be said to be like wearing traditional clothes in a fashionable way. I love it!
Does staring at donuts for long make you feel sick and all? Because this seems to be the feeling I get when I went to Munchy's today. Or at least from the person I was served.
It's the donut-craze in town, maybe that craze has piped down a little but nonetheless, it's still there. Donut Factory is out of the way and it's definitely ridiculous having to stand there for hours to queue for donuts that aren't super cheap or anything. A better alternative would be Munchy's Donuts I thought. They got place to sit down too, and the shop looks a little more professional than those little shops smacked in the middle of even more little shops.
One thing I really like about Munchy's is that they provide tables and chairs for you to sit there and enjoy your donuts. Plus, they've got drinks too. (And of course the fact that you don't have to queue at all during the off-peak hour...) But the fact that they put their donuts out on display like what you see at places like Breadtalk makes your donut a little less enjoyable as it doesn't have that fresh-out-of-the-oven taste.
So, I finally got myself my donuts! Munchy's really has some quite unique taste. A lot of chocolate flavoured stuff. But I was kinda disappointed. I think it could be because, generally, donuts are overrated in Singapore. The donuts were not warm nor were they extremely tasty that makes one crave for another. In fact, I got quite sick of it after awhile. I managed to try 4 different halves of donuts. They had one peanut with chocolate that had too much nuts, covering the chocolate taste. Of course if we wanna go into details, some of the flavours are not bad. visually appealing too.
But on the whole, I really must say I'm not very impressed with Singapore donuts..
If you’re looking for a place for fine dining, this would be a great place. Definitely, you’ll be expecting your meal to cost a bomb at this restaurant at Fullerton ($100 per head on average). But I’ll say it’s worth the money, for the ambience and great service!
A nicely decorated restaurant which gives the feel of a small room, they offer 5-star service and quality food. You have a whole list of wine to select from to go with your meal, but the menu for the main course changes once every few months. If and when they do offer this, I highly recommend the Scallop entrée and Wagyu Beef main course. The Wagyu Beef comes with oxtail with foie gras. The waiter may warn you that it has a really strong taste, but I assure you the oxtail and foie gras was a good combination of 2. The beef I ordered was medium rare, extremely tender! Well it’s Wagyu Beef after all, so it’ll of course be good. The best thing was that the natural taste of the beef was not concealed by anything like mushroom or black pepper sauce.
Alternatively, if you’re a seafood lover there’s always lobster! The lobster is very fresh and crunchy upon chewing. Once again, there was minimal amount of sauce on the plate, thus allowing one to taste the natural sweet flavour of the lobster. This, in my opinion, would be less filling however.
As the place seats only 50 at all times, it allows you to enjoy your meal peacefully. In addition, as San Marco is situated at the top level of Fullerton, you get to enjoy a wonderful view of the sky.. (with an exception of the construction site view). The view may not be extremely awesome, but it sure does beat staring at walls. Perhaps due to the small number of customers at all time, service is efficient too and the waiters are patient and polite. It makes your dining experience even more pleasant.
Great place I’d say! But remember to make reservations.
I’ve walked by so many times, but I’ve never been in to eat. Finally, I got my chance.
I was given one of the “cabin” seats. Initially, it felt quite cool to be in there. But later I realize that it was one of the lousy seats. Waiters don’t really seem to look out for that little you cooped up in one of those corners, plus the air-conditioning there isn’t strong enough to counter the effect of the warm orange spot light right over your head.
The food, however, seemed fine. I ordered a seafood platter but they were out of cold crabs, so I had a replacement. The platter turned out to be really huge. Their calamaris and prawn fritters were good. The prawns seemed quite fresh, thus making it rather crunchy to chew on. But the platter was so huge it seemed more like it was for 3 people. I like their fries too. But as with all fries, you’ve got to eat it while it’s hot. Their carbonara wasn’t that good though. I thought the base was too thick. No doubt all cream bases are like that, however this was a tad too thick, it made it unbearable to finish your plate.
Food and service aside, they’ve got a pool table right in the middle which adds on to the already-funky-looking place. $2 a game. Cheap? I don’t know, but I’ve seen more expensive ones. I thought it was quite a good idea as you get to entertain yourself while waiting for your food.
I’d say this place is worth a try. Just don’t get the cool-looking warm seats..
My first haircut at Reds was a memorable one. It's somewhere along the way to Jean Yip at Parkway Parade. I skipped this place the last time I passed by because it looked really crowded and I was looking for a quick cut, so I went to Jean Yip. However, I felt I should have been here the moment I knew of its existence.
I've heard good stuff about it and since I was deciding on something new with my hair, I decided to try Reds.
The hairstylist (Alan) that attended to me was rather professional and patient. He had a 10 min talk with me to tell me of the things I could do to my hair when I asked for suggestions for a haircut that would suit my face shape. I seldom get such answers. I used to get the impression that this is what hairstylists should know and do, but everytime I ask that, I just get very uncreative ideas that are normally not much of a difference from my previous hairstyle. But this time it was different. I was presented with different ideas and alternatives. For that, I was pretty impressed and satisfied.
During my cut, I realized the hairstylist had this pretty different look when he cuts hair, as compared to others that I've seen. I felt that this hairstylist was very engrossed in his work, unlike others who couldn't care less about what they're doing.
I left the place with a good and satisfied haircut. I think it's definitely worth going. Only thing is that I don't quite feel that $42.80 would be something I'd pay for shaping my short hair all the time..
I don't have the exact address of this food outlet, but it is located at the basement of Plaza Singapura, just when you enter the building from the MRT station.
I was in a rush and was looking for somewhere for a quick meal. This lady gave me this piece of paper showing a list of promotional items and set meals. The price seemed relatively reasonable, plus they assured that food would be ready very soon. So I decided to eat there.
Indeed the food came very soon. But I was quite disappointed. I ordered fish and chips. There were 2 small pieces of fish fillet that was over-cooked. And it looked like those fish fingers that you can get from the frozen food section of NTUC. The two pieces of fish fillet could be just slightly over the size of a palm. There were more fries visible on the plate than fish. I paid $9.90 for that and a bowl of soup.
I was browsing through the menu and I realized that the food there were really expensive, if the portion served were to be all the same as what I ordered. Everything was over-priced. No quantity, no quality. I told myself then, I won't come back here to eat again.
I have passed by this cafe many times, both the one at NAC and Tampines Mall. We won’t be surprised if we see the one at NAC packed all the time. Hey, it’s town after all right! But the one at TM is empty. Good thing it’s air-conditioned, if not there’s a high likelihood they smack flies most of the time.
Decided to try the food there today after checking out the menu. Didn’t look too pricey, so well, let’s give this place a chance yea. Walked in and saw someone eating fried rice. Looked good. But I wanted to order a set lunch that came with a dessert. I asked if I could change my dessert to something else. They said that I could, but I need to pay extra - even if it meant that I asked for something the same price!
Eventually I got myself a bowl of Crispy Chicken Noodle (or something like that) with soup. It cost me $6 I think, out of which the 2 small pieces of chicken they served could have cost them only 30c. You know, the sort you get from NTUC in a packet? The soup was quite blend. On the whole, it was quite plain other than for the chicken I had. And to think this cost me $6 when I think hawker centres have better noodles at $3 :s
Dorothy Perkins is just like Topshop I must say. I used to get the impression that DP sold plus size clothes while topshop was like the smaller-sized-clothes version of DP. But I was wrong because DP actually has clothes ranging from sizes 6 to 16 or so. However, maybe because DP is kinda popular among many people, most of the time it's quite hard to find clothes size 10 and below.
I wouldn't say that the pricing of the items here are all right. As a matter of fact, I'd say that for some stuff the price is kinda steep. For instance, I was eyeing this long skirt that could be worn as a dress too. I feel that it was very ordinary but I was surprised that it costs $69! Kinda steep I'd say.
Nonetheless, I do agree that because of the place being less crowded, it does make shopping here more enjoyable. It's not exactly the same for all outlets. Parkway is one of the more spacious outlet, unlike the one at Plaza Singapure for example. Service here is fine too. Perhaps people staying in the east would prefer to shop at this outlet, instead of having to go all the way to town. But I think the items sold at various outlets might vary slightly as I could not find a particular item at the Parkway outlet, after seeing it at PS.
We all hear so much about the Swedish meatballs and, well basically Ikea Tampines' restaurant. What about it being bigger, with more tables and food and stuff. Well, I really don't know if it really is that great after all.
To begin with, I must say that they put their creativity into good use when thinking of how to make dining more convenient. As it happens for many when ordering food, usually one tray is not enough to hold all our plates and Ikea has a solution to this. If we can use trolley when shopping for groceries, why not the same for food? With it being my first time there, I was really impressed by the three-tier trolley.
To make dining more enjoyable, Ikea has kindly offered to push your trolleys back for you after you've ordered your food. However, I feel that the place is shorthanded and there are constantly trolleys around that gets in the way.
So, after getting a table, I went to order my food. Despite the horribly long queue, I was surprised to be out of it real soon. The concept of taking your own food and having to make minimum orders was quite a smart idea as the queue moves faster this way.
I ordered their Spaghetti with meatballs ($7 ) and a poached salmon ($6.50). Price sounds fine, but I must say the servings are really small and the quality of the food is not that great after all. The meatballs are actually.. no big deal. It does not go well with the spaghetti, and it does not have any unique taste (or so I was expecting). Kinda overrated I'd say. The side dish for the salmon was bad, literally. The broccoli looked like some withering old plant (you won't want to see it, what more eat it); the potato was really hard.
Having to wait 20min for a table just for this (apart from the free flow of drinks that could be a plus point).. nah, not worth it..
A little bit of everything.
That's what I'd use to describe this place. They have a little bit of many different styles of food.
From outside, this place looks like a Western dining place. Something like.. Breeks!. But when you take a look at the menu, they have different types of dishes. Very much like a fusion of Italian, Indonesian, Western etc.
I really like their Calamari rings. It is served with a Thai sauce that is sweet and a little spicy, and has a fragrance that comes from, I think, lemongrass. And better still, it cost only $3.90! I thought that was a really good price!
But other than that, I thought that the other things that I tried, such as the Belado Chicken and the Chilli Crab pizza, were not that great. You could make the pizza yourself and the Belado Chicken seemed like a $10 Nasi Lemak..
Being a calamari-fan, I would definitely be extremely biased if I said that this place was good and definitely worth going..
I just have one word: EXCELLENT!
