Try both their puff and signature cheesestick ! LIKE BOTH OF THEM !!! OSISHI ! the first time i bought the cheesestick is at the vivocity , when it is new and you don't need to queue at all !!!

their cheesestick is so nice that one is not for me and i always bought two ! which made me very guilty after finished eating the two cheesestick ! Last time i bought is $1.20 but now i think it has increased it price if i am not wrong .

then their cream puff is heavenly nice , i always lick the custard !! haha .... the cooling sensation that surround my tongue make me wants more !!!

This is the day that changed my life. Ok it just converted me into the sashimi lover that I am.

Armed with the $100 voucher that i won from HGW(that seemed like such a long time ago), my dining partner and I trooped down on saturday for lunch. Ordering, we didnt even bother to look at the prices, Pretty much got whatever we thought looked good.

Salad-just veges with the wasabe soya sauce dressing
Sashimi-a mix of 7 different fishes
Unagi Agedashi Tofu-didnt really enjoy it actually. gravy was abit too thick and like cg mentioned in her review starchy
Chutoro Sushi-omg when i tasted it i was like wahlau. the chutoro totally melted in my mouth. i was totally savouring each and every bite.yummy
Soft shell crab tempura-nice. my favourite
    Teriyaki Salmon-Nice
Grilled lamb chop-love love love the fats. yummy
    Yakitori

I loved all the items we ordered. Left feeling full and very very satisfied. After the voucher it cost only 50 So very oh so worth it. At that time i did mention i wouldnt return as i definitely wont be able to afford the high prices. But i did return a few nights ago but this experience was a totally different one.

This time another fren had a 15% cupon so himself, another fren and i had dinner on friday nite.

    Items ordered
Sashimi - taken care of by our cupon provider(thanks man)..salmon and swordfish was alright. tuna looked scary but i didnt try it and i actually liked the octopus.
Pidan Tofu- Never really tried century egg before but to me the tofu was well tofu cant really gauge that
Gindara Nabe- Liked the soup and the fish was not bad either. Nice to drink the hot soup in that quite chilly environment
California Maki-didnt try it but from what i gathered it wasnt anything special
Special Maki-i did not notice the wasabe mayo and luckily i did not eat it with wasabe. Was having a wasabe freeze for a moment. but i did like it actually. especially the inner layer which seemed like it was breaded and fried
Mix Tempura and Eel Tempura-didnt really enjoy it that much. Just lacked a certain something. I actually preferred the eel tempura i ate at Hanabi and Mix tempura from Kuishin Bo(mayb i just have weird tastebuds)
    Yakitori-normal
    Hatsu(grilled chicken heart)-not bad actually
    Pork belly asparagus-didnt try this

I definitely enjoyed having dinner with my 2 buddies after not meeting up for quite some time. But the food was not really that fantastic. Maybe its just not my day or something. But well that being said, I wont be back. There are plenty of other Jap places im dying to try out..

Ok, so after my disaster during Valentines, coming here was very erm well risky. But im glad/not glad . I took that risk.

This time we ordered the stone grill items. I had ribeye and bf had the lamb rack. And as alwez, i sumhow alwez order the wrong thing. I was rubbish at cooking the meat and had to rely on him to do it for me. It tasted ok but like it wasnt marinated enuf. I dnt know but it didnt do it for me. Bfs lamb was nice. Succulent, void of that weird lamb taste and really good. especially the yummy fats.

I did love the salad and the mashed potato that came with it.
We also ordered sides of the seafood sampler and gratin.

And i think this is just for the experience. Food is nothing to shout about. The seafood was just too soggy due to the oil and fish was so totally fishy i mean eew. The gratin had too much butter or oil and looked weird. I prefer my AH gratin anytym..

I still like the concept esp the 2nd level though cannot eat the stonegrill items there due to the smoke.yeah prepare to smell after that.

since this was nearest to Goldhill and U.D.D.E.R.S me n fren decided to have dinner here.

The ala carte options are abit on the high side but sets are affordable. I got the salmon set and he got the tonkatsu set.

Both came with salad, this tofu and green bean thingy, rice, miso soup, chawanmushi. usually i would swipe his salad but he liked it so he polished it off. so did i. the tofu and green bean thingy was good too. liked the sauce. Chawanmushi was ok. They should add cheese to it ;)

Salmon was a bit too grilled though. was abit on the hard n flaky side and abit salty but still ok. eatable. And miso soup was good.

Service was great. The manager who i called to make reservations with actually knew it was me(m i the only malay gal who likes to go jap places). Waitresses were keen to serve and seem to either be Japanese or Chinese. Not really fluent in english but they really do try. And one was so cute. Another waitress served me n my fren each others drinks and another actually came to correct it..it happens at most places and its nice that the waitress who took our orders actually made an effort to correct it.

Love the decor too. really like those village jap homes.
    Will definitely be back soon.

Had 30% off thanks to a cupon

Came here after class cos the bf and I were super hungry, wanted to eat sashimi and well we cannot afford the good one so gta settle for this. and ok. i wanted salad minus any form of creamy sauce and between here and sakae..the choice was very duh.

    We ordered
    1) chicken mushroom hotplate set meal thingy-came with soft shell crab tempura, chawanmushi, rice and the soup
    2) unagi with scrambled egg
    3) salmon sashimi
    4) swordfish sashimi
    6) salad duh

i think it was less than 5 mins and my salad came.now that was the fastest. evne at buffet my salad took like forever. this was faster than a bullet in slow motion...but still fast.

then came the sashimi. arnd 8 pieces which were reasonably thick. like maybe 1cm thick. think it was worth it. bf loved swordfish so nxt time juz get that.

i liked the bfs meal. prob cos i stole hhis soft shell crab and chawanmushi. the chicken was ok..liked the sauce though. soft shell crab was light and even though it was tempura aka deep fried aka supposed to be oily. i didnt get sick to my stomach soon after that.

my unagi was nice. it was my first time tryn sumthn like this so it was new for me. but i liked it.

i still think my meal at nara was still my best jap experience so far. but i am sure there are better places also. i dont think im qualified to decide which plae has the best jap. this was oook. i mean for the prices i paid it was passable. im not gonna rave and say oh its the best jap ever cos if i did. slap me ok.

I like this outler over the one at takashimaya. at least dining here, i dnt have people walkin and looking at me like im in a fishbowl.

Plus. they have veal sausage here!!since trying the veal sausage at the food fair @ takashimaya iv been wanting to eat veal sausage but its so hard to find. So for just 3.90, to get a veal sausage, hot side and salad is quite worth it. at least to me. the sausage has just a nice amnt of bite and though its not as good as the german one its still juicy and yummy enuf for me.

Iv also tried their beer battered fish and chips before. honestly i find it a bit too oily and got quite sick of eatin the oil laden fish after a while. prefer the grilled one. as for the chips. while they are nice and light but crispy, theyre quite stingy on the fries. I could count how many fries were given to me when i ordered the fish and chips. arnd 10-15 i tink. its better to get the fries ala carte. 1.90 and u get a reasonable amt maybe more than waht u pay more for at kfc or macs.

I usually return just for the veal sausage only. fish n chips i get from the nearby yella fellas

Tried this cos my frenz n i were hungry and wanted pasta and pizza..

both me n my fren ordered the half n half pasta n gratin set.
comes with salad, soup, pasta and a gratin-standard prawn gratin

    bf got the pizza-corned beef

I got the chicken and cream pasta i think. the salad was ok. basic greens with the wasabi like dressing. Soup-didnt try.bf ate it.

my pasta was ok..plenty of chicken but they could have used more cream sauce. and as for the gratin.
it was nice..i liked that it had just the right amnt of cram and and pasta..something new and different.but the prawns could be fresher.

bfs pizza was nice. well just the thin crust part. liked that but the corned beef tasted off...dont really know how to describe it but i felt the pizza could have tasted more distinct. guess corned beef was a boring choice. staff was helpful and attentive even though it was full house. and well no difficulties with the service.

Feeling like having some japanese food and well we wanted to stuff ourselves. So my friend and I decided to give kuishin bo a shot. At 28.90 for the lunch buffet we thought..why not.

Was a bit disapointed that the sashimi was limited to the maguro(tuna) salmon n tai(seabream i tink). only tried the salmon n tai. both were actually quite ok. iv honestly had worse at an alacarte buffet joint and well another place where i will not name.

The teppanyaki items were actually good. i enjoyed the salmon, beef and chicken. white fish was nothing to shout about but the other 3 especially salmon was quite ok.

HAving tried tempura during dinner at nara the nite b4 i surprisingly found the tempura here better. it was not soggy, still crunchy and hot and not totally drenched in oil. i liked the prawn, soft shell crab. oh and tried the flower crab. quite good. there was meat in it and not juzt the shell with little meat. i ate one only as i couldnt be bothered to dirty my fingers.

The sushi was limited to nigiri- salmon, unagi, tamago, and some others. maki was quite intresting, had mango and apple maki items, but i enjoyed the soft shell crab.

The cawanmushi was good.piping hot and silky and good.pidan tofu tasted like plain tofu to me. sharksfin soup too. not that fantastic..tried the seafood fried rice and the curry..okla..ntn to shout abt.

desserts wise.i enjoyed the tart and the cream puff. the mochi too. mini donuts remind me of those frm marcial kobe.

overall.spread was kinda limited but ok i guess. quality was average. probably wnt return though.

After being stuck in traffic(yet being able to watch the fireworks festival from the comfort of my moms car) my bf and i wanted food in our systems and after both deciding we were not eating japanese or anything seafoody we decided to check out Da Mario. but due to two parking mistakes my bf and i decided to forgo our plans to head to da mario and try out Cugini instead. we were seated in a empty(save for a few customers having drinks) restaurant and we browsed through the menu. i was keen on trying the pizza and and noticed that the veal cutlet sounded quite appetising.

after enquiries on wether the ham in the pizza could be changed to sumthing else we ordered these items

Flamkuche pizza=creme fraiche, mozarella, onion, mushroom and beef frankfruter(used to be italian ham)
    Milanese veal cutlet
    and a
    Tiramisu

i was very pleased with the attentiveness and helpfulness of our hostness and was quite famished and looking forward to the meal.
we ordered at 1055 and waited for the food to come.now at 1115 only the our complimentary cheese puff come to our table. it looked like a mini epok2(curry puff) and tasted nothing like cheese. but it did line my stomach(repeat i was super hungry).at 1120 the waiter came to inform us our food would come in 2 minutes(ok can wait) but then another 2 diners came in and he took like 5 mins to attend to em..nvm..still can wait...we only got our food at 1130..and i was still ok..untill 5mins later i saw the couple that walked in at 1120 getting their pizza..i mean..wahlau..how come our pizza took almost half an hour n theirs took a total of what 10-15 mins??heck..i was hungry so i didnt bother and concentrated on my food.

veal cutlet was good. done up medium rare and it was nice, slightly chewy and succulent. i liked the sauce that was sweet and slightly sour but not the typical sweet/sour sauce. it was breaded and the breading was not too thick, crisp and light. the mash that came on its side tasted good at first but left a weird lingering aftertaste. like they added msg or sumthing. i enjoyed the dish and was feeling a bit full.

the pizza at first i found it quite salty/tasteless. it was an overall slightly salty but the cream was a tad tasteless. the mushroom didnt really do much for the dish but the beef frankfrutter was good. prob what made it have that hint of saltiness. i added the oil they provided when i ate my 2nd slice and i think that there was chilli in that oil. the oil made the pizza spicier and i enjoyed it more. but i was hoping that i could have enjoyed the pizza minus other outside forces. found the crust crisp and chewy although at the end of the meal the pizza crust was bordering on chewy and hard.

and finally our tiramisu. i actually liked it. there was an balance of the cheese and the liquor but i found that there was quite a bit of liquor. a bit too much on top. but i did enjoy it.

aside from being put off by our loooong wait i did enjoy the meal. service was good without being too intrusive. the ambience was there although maybe the sound level of the music could be a wee bit lower. and the food was enjoyable. i doubt ill be back anytime soon as the menu isnt really extensive and well id like to explore my pizza options.

but i shall return mayb one day. bf wanted to get a nutella pizza to go which earned a "WHAT??" facial expression from me. of course we didnt get it.

oh and UOB cardmembers get a 15% discount.

    Excellent service!

Straits Kitchen, located at Grand Hyatt hotel, has the best of local cuisine in a contemporary market place setting. This is the place to go if you want to eat-all-you-can of the variety of food in one sitting. However I feel that the taste and quality of food is not the best you can have in Singapore. But that's almost true for all buffets right? So no complain there. The choice of food available should make up to it. Some of them are pretty decent and some of us had more than 1 serving!

One thing that I must mention is the excellent service and very attentive service staff! They clear the empty plates fast and when they see that someone is using their hands to eat (crabs and prawns), they'll bring a bowl of water with lemon for that person without having for us to ask! Each section of the place is managed by a few service staff. Hence they're able to provide the attention needed at each table. This truly enhances our dining experience at Straits Kitchen! 5 stars for their service!
