    1561. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is truly a great way to fly! I agree with Feizhu that they offer excellent in-flight entertainment. I commute to Australia pretty often over the past few yrs and compared to Qantas, their movies and games on offering are very good.

Although leg space is always a problem for me in budget flight, it is not same for me in SQ. One thing I particularly look forward to when I board SQ each time is that they dished out local newspaper on board - TNA and ST!!! Oh and not forgetting local delights like Mee Goreng for return flight.

Sad to say, standard of the Singapore Girl has fallen over the years from looks to service - Blah - but nevertheless they are still a looker compared to the aunties in BA.

Singapore airlines ranks first in my choice of airlines partially because I'm Singaporean! However there's more to Singapore airlines than blind patriotism. Its one of the few airlines that offer inflight entertainment consisting of dozens of movies and games which is guaranteed to occupy you even for the longest of journeys (I used to commute between Canada and Singapore - a 17 hr journey!)
Service is decent but leg space loses out to other European/American airlines. I Like the fact that I can custom my meals as well.
But do note that it costs quite a bit more than other airlines.

After living around the area for ages, this is the first time that I visited Bliss restaurant over at Punggol Park.

The restaurant is hidden by trees thus it is kind of hard to spot when you are driving.

There is nothing really to shout about on the food. The usual American food. Stuff like Chicken, Lamb, Steak, French Fries, Oyster, Mussel etc.

They have a good selection of wine and beer though. 4 - 5 pages of them. This is something new to me.

As the place is quite small and near to the heartland, it is pack when I arrive around 8pm.

I ordered their special for the evening. Beef fillet with asparagus and mushroom. It turns out to be a finger dish. Nothing much to comment about the food since I did not order their main course.

I would definitely go back and try out their menu. The price is still quite acceptable in my opinion.

Guess I am not the only one having trouble booking sessions with them.

I sign up for a spa package with them almost 2 years ago after a trial session. As usual, the same promise that I can make a booking 3-4 days in advance for a massage session with the free usage of their hydro-bath.

There isn't any problems getting a slot for the first few session as the spa is still quite new and there isn't much members then. The nightmare starts after that.

Firstly, I am informed by the staff that booking needs to be done at least a month before hand. There isn't any letter or email informing me of the changes.

Then the staff handling my booking keeps hanging up on me or just simply refusing to pick up any calls. The person in charge of my account is always unreachable. So I am left stranded with a spa package which is of no use to me.

For the past 2 years, I have visited True Spa for less than 10 times. Whenever I called to check how much is left of the package, I am being asked to call the person in charge of my account.

I am sick and tired of all this. It does not surprise me if True Spa suddenly close down 1 day and there goes all my money.

My advise to fellow Yebbers is to avoid True Spa and True Yoga at all cost. Sign on the dotted line even God can't help you chase back your money.

I have been a faithful follower of Men's Health Magazine Singapore for quite awhile now.

There are a limited Men's magazine which caters to Asian man. Men's Health is one of my favorite.

As the title suggest, it's all about Men and their health. Not to mention how to build bigger muscles in the shortest time.

There are articles on the different exercise and training you can use to improve your stamina and target those hard to train muscles.

Training alone does not guarantee bigger muscle. Eating right is another important aspect that you need to look into. Look no further, you can find food and nutrients in Men's Health as well.

Looking good feeling good, but still single? No worries. There are articles on how to treat your lady right. How to behave during while the two of you are dating.

All this for SGD $6.00 . I think it is a good buy.

Hubby treated me to Kenny Rogers sometime Mid May.
He says they serve good chicken.

The meal we ordered came with 3 side dish (of your choice), half a chicken, a stab of ribs and 2 muffins which they claim to have the best somewhere on one of the boards.

The set doesn't include drinks though.. Out of all the side dish we choosed, I like the coslaw (sorry, I don't know how to spell) the best. It's yummylishes. ;)

The muffins from what hubby said, it's pretty ok. I was too full to have them and when I wanted to have them at home, the ants beat me to it. Boo hoo...

I love the free chocolates. Hubby says it's good chocolate. yum yum.. :)

I guess, I would be back to try the other side dishes!

I enjoy reading the special edition digest that comes with Straits Times.

Digest like Digital Times, Urban and Mind Your Body are great addition which other papers fail to deliver.

Digital Times are available on Tuesday. This digest reports on the latest technology advancement in Singapore. How the internet and technology changes the way people live and interact with one another. A must read for me on Tuesday.

Urban caters more to the ladies. It feature tips on make up, fashion and great bargains. It's a sneak peek into the ladies world for the guys.

Mindy You Body as the name suggest gives you health tips on how to take good care of your body. Articles on major illness and how to detect them early are found in the digest.

Another I must read is the Saturday edition of Straits Times. There are ads from the major telecommunications company in Singapore with nice mobile phone and internet deals. This keeps me updated of the promotions different telecommunication company are having.

To avoid missing out my daily read, I decided to subscribe to the delivery service and have my Straits Times send to my door step every morning.

While Frolick has been making waves in Holland Village, Yoguru has been garnering their own horde of fans over at the other side of the island at Kallang Leisure Park.

They have position themselves their yoghurt as the healthy non-fat choice of dessert with no preservatives and addictives added, which I reckon will strike a chord with all the health conscious. Produced fresh right in their store daily, Yoguru’s menu currently only consist of two flavours, Original and YoguBliss – the latter a fruity mix of Dragonfruit & Pomegranate which are famed for their anti-oxidants.

If one is in a dilemma of which flavour to savour, fret not as Yoguru offers a choice of both flavours in one serving – think of it as “Twist” from McDonalds – where one gets to sample and enjoy both flavours at the same time! Texture wise, Yoguru’s yoghurt is rather creamy and smooth, but I reckon Frolick’s version is silkier. Taste wise I always associate Original flavoured yoghurt as sour – somewhere along those produced by Yami Yoghurt – but Yoguru’s version was surprisingly sweet, in fact the Original is sweeter than that of YoguBliss which gave me a pretty mixed feeling.

Price starts from $3.30 for a regular serving of Original to $9.30 for a jumbo take home version of the YoguBliss – toppings are charged separately ($1.20 for 1 choice, $1.80 for 2, and $2.20 for 3 toppings). And for those who think that Yoguru’s location isn’t as convenient, you might be pleased to know they have plans to expand to town – so look out for it!

I just had a very very very bad experience.

I know clubbing is like not the norm on Sunday, but there is this event "newurbanmale.com anniversary party" and I've won like "free tixs", so I went..

Time stated 9pm-4am. I went ard 9.15, there was no one inside and things were not set up yet! I got the goodie bag that's like pretty empty. The only thing I liked was the paper bag itself. Anyway, there was NO ONE to chop my hand or anything but a staff pointed to a door for us to go in. No bouncer.

We ordered 2 drinks and since it's one for one, one of our drinks should be free right? but no, the staffs were new and pressed 2 bottles, so we were charged 2 bottles and given 4 bottles to drink. I was like. Since there the place is like so empty, I only wanted 1 bottle so I can finish and go off soon.

Check out the first photo. No people around! lol.

I wanted to go to the washroom. The washroom is located outside. When I went out to go to the toilet, a lady told me I wasn't allowed to go to the toilet, it's for VIPs ONLY. I decide I'll just go back in to ask my bf how. Then I got stopped by a very fierce bouncer. He didn't care if he just saw me coming out of the exit like less than 30 seconds ago. He says no stamp, no entry and I should go buy tickets if I want to re-enter the place again. He didn't care if I'm out to go toilet or what. I was like so scared, cause it's the first time I go there and I've no idea how they operate.

I was called my bf who's inside for help. He took me to the toilet, the lady who stopped me from going to the toilet, wasn't around. When I was near the toilet, another lady wanted to stop me from going to the toilet. -.-

I don't understand what's with blocking people from going to their toilets? Can't they hold their "VIPs" meeting elsewhere???

Then bf and I wanted to go back in to finish our drinks and the same bouncer stopped us again. This time my bf told him we just went in less than 30mins ago and we have drinks inside. The bouncer told the manager or something that we're trying to create trouble and are being "excited". -.- We even have the receipts to prove that we were inside loh.

We manage to get stamped and got back in. Drank a bit and left the place with 2 and a half bottles of drinks wasted.

    1570. Tampopo Restaurant

    feizhu feizhu says:

Popped by Tampopo (タンポポ) for dinner one evening since I was in the vicinity. Tampopo, which means dandelion(a kind of flower) in English, shares the same name with a popular culinary movie in Japan in the mid eighties. The movie focuses on Ramen, which incidentally, is what Tampopo is known for.
Located within Liang Court, Tampopo portrays itself as a casual Japanese diner and shares the premises with Tomton, its sister restaurant which specialises in Kurobuta pork.

Shabu Ramen - Billed as THE ramen to try, as featured in the Straits Times, the shabu ramen had a flavourful soup base with a strong hint of pork yet didn't come across as too overwhelming. According to the menu, the soup is made by boiling pork bones for 2 days, which I guess explains its rich flavour. The ramen was springy with lots of bite while the thinly sliced pork was tender and a tad chewy.

Omelette Rice - The omelette rice, or Omurice, was quite well done in my humble opinion (not that I've tried alot though). Moist and fluffy Japanese rice with a few token pieces of chicken wrapped up in a nice thick layer of soft and milky scrambled eggs.

Special Loin - This is Tomton's specialty and I am most inclined to agree. The meat was lightly breaded and very crispy on the outside yet retaining its tenderness and moisture inside. It tasted fresh with not a bit of the oily residue taste that tends to plague deep fried pork cutlets. Really excellent piece of pork but rather small for $17.

Cheese Chiffon - I ordered this dessert because the other chiffons were sold out. And I actually regretted it as it spoilt what would have been a satisfying meal. The chiffon, though light, was practically tasteless and I certainly didn't appreciate sporadic gratings of cheese which did nothing more than allow the chiffon to live up to its name? Maybe it just didn't do it for me.

I liked the food and $55 for 2 pax isn't too expensive a price to pay. There is a wee bit of a ventilation problem there so you might walk out faintly smelling of food. The place can get crowded so going early especially on weekends is recommended.

    See all my pictures here.
