Okay now first for the benefit of people who do not know what is Xiao Long Bao (doubt got people don't know), but anyway, Xiao Long Bao also known as soup dumpling, is a type of bao (bread or bun-like) origins from Shanghai. They are usually steamed in Bamboo shoots, hence the name.
The fillings for Xiao Long Bao are traditonally soup and meat, but as people taste bud gets more & more powerful, demands for new variation are made, and smart restaurants have came up with new variety like seafood, vegetarian, crab egg as fillings.
But do you know the origins in Shanghai? That is the founder of Xiao Long Bao. The Shanghai version of Xiao Long Bao is said to origin from a town called Nanxiang, a suburb of Shanghai. I just came back from Shanghai, and there i tried the authentic Xiao Long Bao from Nanxiang Mantou Dian. To see more about the authentic Xiao Long Bao,

After dinner at Aston Specialists, we went to Ji De Chi at Liang Seah for desserts. It was full when we got there, so we waited a while before getting our seats. Cheapest dessert range from $2 to the more expensive ones at $4. Don’t belittle the small bowl of dessert, it makes big money selling them.
We had Sesame paste ($2), Orginal Herbal Jelly ($2), Walnut paste ($2), Mango grape fruit ice ($3.50).
Total bill for 4 desserts $9.50, the desserts are not too bad, price acceptable i guess. Parking was difficult on Liang Seah street if you are driving, so either wait a while to find parking lots, or just take public transport to bugis and walk over.

People always thought that the best meals are having good food accompanied with good wines. But i came to realise its not just that, the most important ingredient for the perfect meal is simply having good company. Food in the company of good friends can be good food, regardless how cheap or expensive it is.
Visit to Aston with my good friends, wee hong, hong yi, sherman. Food turns out to be good (and cheap). Reach Aston at 730pm, and it has a long Q already, did not make prior reservations as they do not take any. Waiting time for us was about 35mins to get to the counter to make our order, the food came shortly after that.
The main problem i noticed about Aston is that they only have one counter for diners to make the orders, so for those in large groups, they usually take quite a long time in deciding and making the orders, when we went in, there was plenty of seats available and they were able to serve the food fast, thus i feel that they should increase the number of counters to speed up the waiting process.
The main course have a wide variety of selections, for chicken there is chargill, black pepper, cripsy fried, hickory bbq, teriyaki, lemon lime, double up, chicken & sausage combo. Most are price at $5.90, with double up chicken at $9.90 and chicken & sausage combo at $10.90.
For steaks there are prime sirloin, black pepper steak, prime ribeye, prime tenderloin, and pork chops, ribs, lamp loin chops. There are also fish dishes, and pasta.
Every main course comes with 2 sides, which includes hot sides; baked potato, french fries, seasonal veggie, onion ring, bbq beans, tasty rice, corn on the cob, mashed potato, and cold sides; potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, house salad.
Prime Ribeye ($12.90) with choice of coleslaw and fries, medium raw. Steak was unusually tender and juicy (heard that Aston is good for its steak). Generous servings of sides, i wanted house salad but its run out. But one thing about the steak is, the meat was rather fat, comparing to steaks i had before, this one was really fat, can see all the fat meat around. Nevertheless, i’ve enjoyed the steak, and at its price i think its rather cheap 4.5 out of 5
Black Pepper Steak ($10.90) accompanied by coleslaw and onion ring, medium raw. Steak was not bad, but i prefered my prime ribeye. This steak also has lots of fat, mister ang had a hard time chewing the meat. lol 3.5 out of 5
Lemon lime chicken ($5.90) with coleslaw and mashed potato. A simple Chicken fillet was dressed up with a refreshing lemon lime sauce, the dish was quite unique because never seen chicken with lemon lime sauce before. 4 out of 5
Hickory BBQ Chicken ($5.90) together with potato salad and onion rings. The BBQ sauce on the chicken was tasty, a bit sweet and u-know-bbq-flavour. How else to describe? Cheap and good! 4 out of 5
Anyway, i would say Aston food are good, a cafe ambience, price are reasonable or even cheap to be exact. Pity the long Q needed, but i think just go early to avoid having to Q for long. Mister ang drive so its easy for us to get there, the shop is opposite Katong Mall. Good food, good price! But they do not serve ice water, each glass is at 30 cents, so we rather buy soft drink. Total bill was $41.20 for 4 pax, dudes treated me for this meal, thanks guys!
On our way there, we passed by the newly opened Cafe Oliv (will probably try them next time), and also, will definitely go back to Aston again for dinner (but kind of far for us people living in the west).

Introducing.. the New Cripsy Thin Pizza Delight Meal!
$25 for 2-3 pax, choice of 2 soups of the day or salads, 1 regular Cripsy Thin Pizza with choice of 7 toppings selection), choice of 2 beverages (iced lemon tea or peach tea/soft drink)
Tay and me tried the Cripsy thin pizza from Pizza Hut because we haven had it before, obviously we had hawailian, and notice one slice of pizza is not there? Cos i forgot to take the picture when it came, and that slice end up in Tay stomach alr. lol
Hmm.. hawailian pizza is my fav, toppings of ham, pineapple, cheese makes it good anyday. But the problem with cripsy thin pizza is its really thin, and the price is the same as the normal pizzas from Pizza Hut. Since the ingredient for making the cripsy thin pizza (so much thinner) is less, how come the price is the same? Anyway, its not really as filling as the normal pizza. But i think Pizza Hut came up with cripsy thin pizza because Canadian Pizza does thin pizza (according to tay, don’t quote me!)
Spicy Drumlets! Always the must-have when you visit KFC, we add-on for this @ $2.80
All in all, although Pizza Hut Cripsy thin pizza are a new experience, it is unlikely i will try them again, prefer the thick crust pizza! But after eating at more expensive places, i come to find pizza hut is rather cheap, so i will most likely go back often for pizzas. Cheers! Service-wise, they could be faster, have to stand up to catch the waiter attention to order and for the bill. Total bill adds up to $32 for two person.

No Signboard Restaurant, chinese name is Wu Zhao Pai. I used to though it was Pepper-Brand (hu jiao pai) because my mom always pronouce it that way. Haha. Well well, when u think of No Signboard Restaurant (NSB), this is only one thing that straight away comes to your mind. Crabs! Naturally, their restaurant logo already told you that, the logo is a big crab.
Frequent No Signboard many times already, always go there for the crabs. My family prefer the white pepper crab over chilli, although sometimes we will have a combination, half pepper half chilli. What to say? Crabs are their speciality, not much place are their half in doing crabs. Although i am not a crab-lover, but their crab won me over.
Geylang branch is not air-con, by the roads of red-district (you-know-what), yet we went today on tue, its fully crowded. By 7pm every table is full, so prior reservations are recommended
The Must-have at NSB! White-pepper crab, their crabs are really one class above the rest, first bite into the meat of the crab, you can really tell the difference, the meat is firm and hard, not like those normal one u know? One Kg at NSB is $35, ours is abt 1.5kg coming at $50. Definitely better than Jumbo or any other place! 5 out of 5
Lobster! I luuvve lobster! But then the lobster here is not so good, mayb its because its local breed lobster, not air-flown from Australia. Look, i am not a sucker for overseas stuff, but then the overseas lobster really do taste better than local one. Price of cos got difference, the local one is $7 per 100 gram. This lobster is abt 700g, costing abt $49. Hmm.. eat salad lobster two times a bit no feeling already, next time must try other type of lobster.
Sambal Kangkong ($6), one of the more popular vegetables commonly found in restaurants and zi-char place, the one here i find it a bit too dry, some place cook it too wet and some do it too dry.
Fried-chicken Wings ($6 for 4). Decent chicken wings, nothing to shout about.
Malay Mee Goreng ($7), Wanted to try this to compare with the one at Jumbo, but this one really lose to Jumbo two hands. Too dried, i prefer Mee Goreng wet wet one, nice! So pls try the one at Jumbo. Also, i wanted to order small $5 one, but i nv say anything and the waitress asume i want the medium one, end up having too much to finish. But still at $7 the serving is a lot bigger than the one at Jumbo although not as nice
After our meal, they provide everyone with dessert, free! haha. But its just have one logang. No Signboard restaurant definitely is one of the best restaurants in Singapore to have crab, you can’t compare it with those very high end restaurants, but with seafood restaurants and zi-char, i feel its one of the best around. Service wise, the staff at Geylang Branch is quite good, they are friendly, not impatient while waiting for us to make up our mind on ordering, and serves food really really fast. Total bill is $130.73 for 4 person
