One of the most interesting cafes I've ever been in SG and whats best is that it is situated conveniently in boat quay facing right on the river.
It was a short climb of stairs up in between the vibrant restaurants and what separates the noise and the serenity inside the cafe was just a glass door. Entering it bloats out the fun noises downstairs into a world of its own. A sweet smiling staff greeted us and led us to remove our footwear, wash our hands and handed us some instructions on how best to enjoy our experience with the cats in the safe house which is another glass door away.
Really like the way the whole place was cleverly designed that is cosy and seriously quite fun. So we got ourselves ready and even ordered our drinks and cakes to be consumed inside the cat's safe-house. While I slide away the door to enter, one snowy white short haired cat was perched next to the high table welcoming our entrance. There were about 14 cats in all, mostly street cats rescued and a large cat play ground in the middle of the room with toys amply available everywhere.
Coaches and vintage looking chairs were available for small groups of friends and photo enthusiast can go ahead snapping away at every moving creature, of course without flash. Love the side shelves and the other cat-friendly fixtures that allowed these cats to play among themselves and us humans spreading some love my lightly caressing and playing with them with the toys available.
Love the dedication the staffs are putting into this place, keeping it clean (i sat on the floor with no hair stuck on my jeans) and the cats were particularly loving especially towards the staffs. Each cat had a story, a unique character and some lovely expression. Wish we could stay longer however we had to go coz they close at 10pm.
Great work at the cat cafe... love the ambience, the cats and most of all the dedication towards re-homing strays. Its true... house cats are really very different from street cats... and yes they do show emotions and are manja towards their owners.
Its an hourly charge, otherwise food and drinks are pretty affordable... Cats are well kept, clean, fluffy and the place smells great, thanks to the clever designs.
The seriously serious burger joint for the die-hard burger fans. Yes... one of the yummiest, economical burgers I've ever had.
A clean looking Burger Bar by the walkway toward Marina Square with a few seats available and interior deco that reminded me of the Old 'CHECKERS Cafe or Billy Bombers', yet ordering is via the I-pads near the entrance, with the order number, make payment at the small window opposite the entrance.
You will find a man behind the cash register that collects your order, collects your payment, hands over your drinks and a vibrating call coaster. Proceed to you table and wait.
While orders are being fulfilled, follow the vibrating coaster to the small window and collect your order, add on the condiments and sauces and you are good to go.
The burgers are huge, beef patty juicy and tasted handmade as its not so compressed like machine made ones. Well executed and lightly seasoned, sandwiched in between 2 soft and crispy buns is a sloppy looking yummilicious burger.
The fries was roughly cut up, fried will crispy and not too oily i must say while the cheese fries was disappointing for me. It was soggy and the cheese sauce, not creamy rather lumpy and hardens too quickly...
The drink serving was also disappointing, i mean we do get pretty thristy after all these fried food and canned drinks were without ice-cubes, you drink from the can via a straw and mineral water was a tiny 330ml bottle... i was expecting a 500ml at least...
Location:4/5, Price: 3/5, Food: 3.5/5, Portion; 2.5/5 (Burger and Fries Size is okay but Drink serving is sad), Cleanliness: 3/5
Pop by here for a quick lunch and though i initially wanted the Bahn Mi (Baguette Sandwich) yet I was enticed by the soft smooth rice noodles (pho). With further encouragement from the lunch set that was going on, i've decided on the PHO set which comprises of a dried pho noodle with peanut sauce (never tried dried pho before), 2 skewers of (tandoori) chicken, a soup and a milk tea which i topped up for an iced lemon grass drink.
1) Tandoori Chicken skewers, though not called tandoori but looked red like tandoori, slightly spicy and skewered meat juicy and well season. No wow factor but pleasant.
2) Dried Pho Noodle was yummy and chewy. The peanut sauce was pretty acceptable but chicken was well marinated and paired with lemongrass. A pretty refreshing and enjoyable main.
3) Lemongrass drink was quite a disappointment as it was syruped... totally not worth the additional $1 paid to get it upgraded.
Plenty of sitting though they are pretty tightly spaced with stools and tables for a quick meal. Service is quite quick but not well polished.
