We always love the retro setting with cool mini juke boxes to play with at the side of the table, the plasticky seats thats makes a farting sound everytime u wiggle and the cool metal container from the ICY MILK SHAKE that's still in my #AwesomeDrinksList.
We were looking for a nice place to have our midweek dinner when we decided to grab a good burger at Billy Bombers.. While we browsed through the menu, we realised that many of the very yummy stuffs were no longer available. We used to like a whole steak for patty on the burger but now there are only a choice of chicken and beef minced meat patties.
We ordered burgers and it looked yummy, as usual burger is huge as ever and love the medium doneness (as requested), however the fries were soggy... The root beer float tasted as glorious and the milk shake was as good as ever (I loved cookies and creme for the longest time).
The interior deco was however a little run down with the mini jukebox badly beaten up with parts held together by masking tape and seat cushions tattered and torn. The place was pretty empty while we were having dinner with only 2 other tables of couples.
I did not intend to write a review for this restaurant / cafe however the excellent service I received made me think twice as I did not take any nice pictures on the food.
We went in to this restaurant tempted by the selections of ice creams near the entrance however we didn't manage to order any desserts...
The varieties of mains, sides, appetizers and desserts are ample with lots of meal options to choose from. You may take a while to absorb whats inside the menu and well if you generally love pasta, then this is the place to go with lots of pasta and pizza selections.
We made our order and added on a half pint of draft beer which came in these really cute glasses. While we were digging into our food, one friendly staff came over and explained to us the promo available and offered to change our beers to a 1 pint one which could give us a free deep fried pork ribs.
Though the pork ribs were really tiny cubes of deep fried boney stuffs, we appreciated the staff to take time to explain to us and offer us a better deal. Anyway, we had 1 pint of draft beer each and had some free snacks which made us too full for dessert afterwards.
The food we ate:
1) Carbonara pasta : Pasta was well cooked and sauce tasted creamy and flavourful. It was pretty well done and portion was just right for one.
2) Half Chicken with coleslaw and baked potato. Chicken was drizzled with a BBQ sauce and grilled to a crispy skin. The entire platter was generously placed, chicken juicy and pleasant to eat.
3) Deep fried Ribs was just deep fried. It was crispy and goes well with the sweet thai chilli sauce.
Service (4.5/5) - Staff have lots of initiatives, very responsive, meal came quick and tables are cleared quickly and very clean. Never seen staff clean the table with the rag so strenuously. I'm impressed.
Food (3.5/5),
Location (4/5) - Mall is Super near to JE MRT station,
Price (3.5/5),
Ambience (3/5) - Cafe like and noisy but casually nice :)
Had a superb time at playnation last friday night in the wake of my grossly postdated birthday date. Its mine first time and we had so much fun, we stayed till closing and didn't wish to go home.
At this prinsep branch, you really don't see much from the entrance as these shop houses were deep and spacious as such after we made payment for our hourly packages, we had to walk pass a dining, lounging aka board game play area before we reached our play area.
What looked like excerpts from different living rooms, these cosy open living rooms houses a comfy couch, tv console, nice huge flat screen tv, a XBOX 360 and a Wii and some came with remote control guitar, drum sets and all the gadgets you need to play whichever game nintendo and Xbox has created for us.
While we were there, many of these cosy living areas were filled with bunch of friends playing TV games together, some banding up with each other singing and making music with their high tech instruments, while some 8 people playing a crazy dancing game. Laughter, shouts, exclaims and giggles feel the air as the music from the TV blasted through with slogan like GREAT!, WINNER! being heard frequently.
It was fun and a fresh experience for me. While we were gaming, my friend ordered a slice of rainbow cake for us to share and the staff presented it to me with such charm and a slow hum of birthday tune. I was touched and well the cake tasted yummy, though heavy and pretty, we ate it all up.
Great place to hang and play with friends... Do something unique besides just movies and drinks all the time... play some tv games together with no worry of dirtying mom's favourite cushion cover or knock over daddy's antique vase...
Price: 4/5 (its pretty worth it with the free flow drinks and selection of games),
Location: 3.5/5,
Environment: 4/5 (cosy, clean and nice),
Variety of games: 4/5 (though some are pretty used, yet they still function appropriately),
You wonder if we only review on the yummy items, you are wrong...
You wonder if we only review on our anger and unhappiness, you are wrong...
Yet this review is on about out disappointment for such a good idea and franchise concept.
Nihon Mura might just be one of the cheapest sushi outlets you can ever find in Singapore, though the increase in price from $1.50 to $1.60 per plate kicked in, its still one of the cheapest in town with many outlets to choose from and a good range of various types of sushi, grilled items, fried items and appetizers. The only part that bewildered me was why the standards are so different from outlet to outlet.
Here at city square was one of the worst outlet i've ever been despite my shockingly good experience at Yew Tee Point. Here at city square, it was almost empty on a saturday afternoon and well service was okay as there were only 2 staffs outside. We were shown to our seats pretty quickly and well the seats were tight single seating space in the middle with a narrow walkway.
The servings on the belt were plenty in choices (the standard stuffs), yet what annoyed me are the portions. Salmon sashimi cut so thin... its the thinnest i've ever seen, display was messy, ugly and badly done. The appetizer cold dish were like a small mess and jelly fish a few strands. Its either your plates are too huge or the chef is extremely stingy. Everything was cut real thin, i was half expecting a bald patch on my salmon sushi.
We had like 2 plates and we left coz it was really not-appetizing and a disappointment. The most stingy outlet we've ever been... trying to make us choke up more plates? Well, if you are a little more up to the standard.. the business will come... Please do well and QC your portions before you put them on the belt... Theres only one chance to make the first impression....
Just got some real good deals in this outlet... At least 70% off and am very glad. You can find loads of Australian designed basics such as t-shirts, berms, pants, jeans, tanks, dresses and accessories for both ladies and men.
So these are what I bought...
- 3 knitted cardigans and pull overs retailing at ($79.90 to $89.90) and I paid only $19.90 per piece.
- Men Shirt of a pretty good material retailing ($79.90) and I paid $19.90
- Mid High Cut Boots retailing ($89.90) and I paid $19.90
There were others going for 50% off and bundled priced sales... Materials were great, cut was more on the relaxed casual kinda style and service was great. Staff was friendly and there were 3 changing rooms hidden discreetly at the back of the counter with plenty of waiting and walking space.
Location: 4.5/5 (Underground mall CityLink)
Price: 3.5/5 (only good during sales)
Service: 4/5 (Friendly, helpful and good product knowledge)
