Its been a while since i've wondered through the dull granite flooring of one of Singapore's most iconic shopping mall and convention centre, the Suntec City Mall. Rigorous renovation have been taking place for a long period of I guess more than a year and have unwrapped into a delightful surprise.

The fountain terrace, a area where most would satisfy their hunger pangs have unveiled a new look with new concept restaurants and plentiful of comfortable and squeaky shiny plastic patent decos and furnitures all around. In place of the old Kenny Rogers and a few other indian and chinese restaurant along this stretch is the chic looking Food Republic Food Court.

Food republic is famous for their clean local english looking decos and functional yet charming shop front displays. Here you can find plenty of seat and lots of variety to choose from. The choice is ample and the food yummilicious. Its a mixture of local delights as well as localised foreign tasting dishes. We could almost find a good seat though its a crowded weekend lunch time and the staff cleared them table almost immediately leaving almost nothing behind except a wet stain that dried up almost immediately.

Seats were not exactly comfy to laze but good for dining and the way the space was utilized is great. Its crowded yet we have ample space and could eat without knocking somebody or get knocked by somebody. Air conditioning was good though we could see everybody's food smoking, the overall atmosphere was cool and comfortable. Real nice place to dine and prices were a little steep but is the regular town food court pricing like $6 for a bowl of wanton noodles or $6.50 for some hot plate korean meat set.

With the high recommendation of some friends who frequents this area for lunch, i have decided to pop by to try it out. Best Kway Chup in Geylang as some may say turned out to be quite a disaster.

Its not easy to get a sit during lunch time, not to mention a parking space on a rainy afternoon and yet we managed to secure a nice windy spot right infront of the TV (to my delight). Theres not much other stuff to order at the coffee shop except mixed rice, roasted chicken and duck noodles or rice, fish soup or stir fry stall. Since we have decide to try the BEST IN GEYLANG kway chup, we just ordered and went back to sit. Shortly the lady shouted at us to pick up our food. I was both embarrassed and shocked because my good friend told me to sit and that she will bring the food over. While she called out to us, he pretended to go buy drinks!

So I served myself, well i later then i saw the SELF SERVICE Sign, so well, had an embarrassing moment there. While we unloaded our food, we realised the portion was so small for 2. The meat were little, no pig's skin and the extra side veg was also little not to mention the kway in the bowl was like 2/3 of the bowl. The meat tasted tough and the kway also thick and not smooth. The food i must say is not as rumored. Its not nice, even the food court near my home does a better job, otherwise if its not as tasty at least the amount gives you some content and feel money well spent.

We felt we were being ripped off and its really not so yummy.

Bought my first M1 mobile plan here though they don't display many of their products and you won't see the latest phone for trial, service is pretty fast I must say.

I was there on a saturday after and the queue was not too long. Information of their latest phone offers are placed pretty obviously at the entrance pillar and many staffs at work. I was promptly serviced at the counter and then before I could warm my butt on the comfy bright orange cushion, my number was called.

Details taken quickly, scanned and signed and terms and conditions clearly spelled out by service staff who has rattled non-stop almost everyday, you could hear clearly what they say but before your mind could process its OVER :) I was clearly amused and yet the straight friendly faced looking staff was nonchalant.

I got my items checked quickly and swish i was showed to the counter to pay. Its a quick service and waiting time is a good everything done within 20 mins. I was impressed both on the efficiency and the great staff PR skills. While my bunch of waiting friends lounge at the waiting area, which is pretty spacious and comfy, the cannot but be humored by the large and packed crowd opposite the Red Coloured Telco's shop.

Will I intro my friends: Depends if they carry the latest models they wants or if they had angered the 2 other telcos

             The Stall   dsc_2386.jpg   dsc_2387.jpg
One of my favourite stalls serving a good variety of Yong Tau Foo and 2 types of soup base - Normal bean soup which is tasty and healthy and the Curry Laksa base that add OMPH!!! to all that you can order.

There is so many varieties of fish cakes, veg, toufoo, tau pok, egg plants, mushroom and everything else to choose from, i usually visit with some friends so we can order a huge bowl of goodies in soup and separate noodles as I don't usually my bowl of noodles clumped with loads of ingredients that are usually large like any yong tau foo. Most usually a too crowded bowl might cause alot of yummy ingredients to be dropped around the table, thanks to my butter fingers.

On warm days, you can also opt for them dried, just rinsed in hot boiling water and served dried with loads of sauce. I enjoy the curry laksa soup base as well. It is really tasty and the ingredients are mostly fresh and yummy. Like they always say, you can judge the freshness of the ingredients with the colour and the look of the displays and in this stall its always green for the veg, bright purple for the egg plant and bouncy white for the bean curds.

Then how do you judge if you are getting the fresh and good stuffs, the bean curds tells all. If its stale and hard, its probably been there too long, but here its always fresh and bouncy with no trace of the sourish stale taste.

We love to order dried beehoon separately, which cost you only ($0.60) and you can add on the condiments such as spring onions, chilli sauce, sweet bean sauce, loads of fried onions and make it look super yummy.

Its a good stall with really value for money and fresh ingredients. Its very enjoyable to buy from them, service is prompt and price is reasonable.

This is the only place you can hang besides the Mcdonalds opposite the building. Indoor and Outdoor sitting available, matter of fact, its a pretty big food court around this area that serves old school food that is pretty yummy.

The choices are many, you get to choose from handmade noodles, to the regular roasted chicken or duck, charsiew and pork belly noodles or rice, yong tau foo, two stores of mixed veg rice and one stir fry stall that serves up a good meal. Yes, the stir fry store is yummy but its a little pricey.

When I am there, I would usually sit outside on a cooler day and eat my favourite Yong Tau Foo. This one is special as you can opt for a laksa based soup instead of the plain bean soup. Though you might get a few smokers, this food court is bigger than it looks as the corridors are all areas to sit.

Food choice is good, varieties plenty and price quite reasonable. You also get some nice local desserts from the dessert store and of course healthy cut fruits. Service is good, our dishes quickly gets cleared and cleaned and though it can get noisy, sitting outside is more conducive for coffee chats.
