I just want to rave about how yummy the blueberry pancakes were. I was pretty surprised, no more a fan of the Yummy KFC as there were just too many more delicious fried chicken fast food outlets around. Yet while i was waiting for a friend, I simply decided to have breakfast and I went for the $2.95 Blueberry pancake set.
WOW! It was yummy, the 2 pieces of pancakes served are soft and fluffy, coupled by some maple syrup, scrambled eggs and a large wedge of hash brown. I must say the hash brown was beyond my expectations. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, its thick so you really get loads of fillings and tasted not too salty.
The portion is just right and add-on a coffee or tea for a dollar. I find it very affordable, extremely worth it and very comfortable for a hearty breakfast. Of Course there are other choices of drinks like MILO and other stuffs to choose from like wraps, porridge and burgers, yet i find nothing beats the blueberry pancakes. They are really yummy and priced superbly well.
One of the rare old school markets around, this place is crowded during weekday lunches and weekend dinner. Though renovated quite some time back, this food centre is still well maintained. Windy and spacious with many tables and fast turnover. Expect many square tabled seats for 4 or 6 and few round tables for 6.
There are many famous local yummy food you can find here like fried kway teow, super yummy indian rojak, wanton noodles, pig's organs soup and famous bean curds (Dou Hua) as well as desserts like ice-kachiang. Location is good and handicapped friendly and the carpark is pretty near to the food centre, not forgetting the restroom which is interestingly in another small building a small distance away from the main food centre area.
Parking is ample and many but during weekdays, its a challenge, so the trick is to go for early lunch. One of my favourite stall is the Lee Kee CharSiew Wantan Noodles (No. 13). Noodles are well cooked with a hint of sesame sauce, wanton fleshy and fresh ingredients used and char siew generous.. Very yummy!
It was wednesday night's out and we have decided to hang out at this particularly interesting bar and restaurant just opposite The Central Mall on Hong Kong Street. The location kinda shocked us as we expected a place that is more spacious but a small quiet bar sounds nice for a group hangout of close friends.
We were impressed by the spread on the menu as they serve many exotic stuffs however, we have decided to go for the $29.90 Liquid Buffet made up of beers, cocktails, mocktails, shots, housepours and spirits of almost everykind. We ordered some simple tapas and started the potent drinking games. There were about 10 tables, the place can house to the max 30-40 people at one time and they do have a couch seat for about 8 of us and we settled down snuggly there.
The food came, the japanese seaweed wrapped chicken is badly overdone, its all black and the samosas were a tad too hard but you don't matter the food when you are high in spirits. The truffle fries were yummy, made aromatic with the truffle oil, these fries are scrumptious.
We ordered a good array of housepours from whiskey coke, rum coke, vodka orange, vodka lime to the tad old tequila shots and gin tonics. The drinks were not potent enough and our very worse drinker could down 4 of these and still talk normal. I mean, isn't it easier to get them drunk fast and they could go home quick rather then hang there and keep drinking and trying to get drunk. The concept is a little different. So we ended up downing about 6 glasses of house pours and 10 shots each before we say good bye and wasn't even high for our next hangout.
The staff is friendly and sitting comfortable. There is also a restroom 'unisex of course' that you can use but do use it early as it always gets stinkier and stinkier.
We were attracted by the aircraft dressed in the blue and white symbolizing the US of A suspended overhead at the entrance of this interesting Air-craft themed bar.
Entering the bar you will find yourself sitted in what looked like safety bunkers with sand bags everywhere stamped with the aviation symbols. Extremely interesting set-up inside the bar, this bar has a band playing on certain nights, otherwise its the piped in house music that accompanied the chatter and the slur of happy patrons.
They are famous for their wings and by that i mean the airplane wings as well as the chicken wings. The choices of finger food are plentiful and they also do have chill-out sets that contains beer and fingerfood altogether. Its more a beer place and be served by ultra friendly staff either in male pilot overalls or the super duper shorty overall with tiny skirts that I'm sure I've seen some perky bums peeking out of its parameters. Its extremely sexy yet casual. A total beer place, the music, the ambience, setting is totally a buckets of beer hangout.
You may talk as loud as you want, noise is pretty controlled here and I find this place an extremely good place to hang out with your friends for casual dining and beer.
The photos came out a little dark as the place is not properly lit perhaps its for ambiance. And the sandbags tickled my legs and my butt.. so... choose your seats wisely.

Yes its true, handlebar is a biker's bar and has since shifted to their new residing area. Besides the cool bikers, you can find normal individuals like me hanging out there for a yummy burger and icy cold beer.
Yes, you do see loads of harley's and other chopper looking bikes hanging around the grounds yet you can find none of the renegades just like the western movies. The food is yummy i must say, service is extremely casual and the wooden interior deco made it very warm and homely to hang about. They serve regular western food and loads of ice-cold beer as well as regular cocktails. Love the good old swinging chair and outdoor BBQ tables, not forgetting the dart sections that brings back many good old memories. I seriously prefer the old location at alexandra, its more scenic, green and the iron bridge that we used to make ourselves walk when we are a little high on the spirits is fun.
