If anybody remembered anything about West Lake, it would have to be infamous Kong Bak Pau (Braised Pork meat in Bun). I guess they have the best Kong Bak Pau in town. The meat is braised to perfection having the savoury and fragrant spices soaked through the thickly sliced pork belly. Coupled with black sauce and some fresh lettuce sandwiched by fluffy mantou (Plain) bun. Meat is tender and of the right balance of spices and sauce, its not too oily nor too fat, I must say just the right of everything. i can eat like 3 in a row....
Their other take away snacks are also nice like the red bean pancakes and other chinese finger food kinda snacks but their restaurant menu is also fantastic. So if you really like their finger food, be sure to have a feast at their restaurant at Blk 4 Queen's Road.
I have to stop here as i'm getting hungry from all the Kong Bak Pau Talk.
Price: 3/5 (the Kong Bak Pau is a little pricey i must say)
Location: 3/5
Cleanliness: 3/5
Yumminess; 4/5 (Just the Kong Bak Pau)
Service: 2.5/5
Swissbake breads are wholesome and unique in its own way. Made with a good blend of wholesome and healthy ingredients, these bakery items are good to eat on its own or made into sandwiches. I should say the choice of retail items are interesting, some of the breads looked so dusted with flour as though its totally raw, and some looked chao tar but yet all tasted yummy.
This outlet has a wide selection of breads and other pastry items including savoury pies and some delicate cakes, interestingly they also have raw dough ready to be baked into bread that I have yet to try. I hope the finished product will be similar to the ones shown on the shelves.
The location of the outlet is conveniently situated at the exit and payment point of cold-storage, perfect for the muddle-headed me that always forgets my breakfast staple food. Store is neat and brightly lit with bread packaged nicely and easy to purchase. Staff at the counter friendly and efficient. Really good store.
If you are looking for a Hong Kong Style breakfast place, Wan Chai at IMM might just be the best place. They stay serving breakfast earlier then many other food outlets here in IMM and serve up one of the best hong kong style chinese cuisines.
Definitely no walk in a grab whatever seat you like. First, you must queue at the reception counter near the Daiso entrance and you will be allocated a seat and the paper menu. Get seated and choose your choice from the menu and proceed to pay at the counter opposite the Daiso. Drinks and desserts are collected from the counter and everything else they will deliver to you. Cutleries, serviettes and the other stuffs you too collect from the side service counter and water is not served... matter of fact, they don't service plain water; for tap water please go to the restroom...
Food take a pretty long time to arrive but tasted pretty yummy. The baked chicken rice is cheesy and with a large piece of thigh meat with a bowl of double boiled corn soup. We also had a salted egg meat patty rice which is piping hot with a veg soup and not forgetting the ever so famous wanton noodles.
The wanton noodles is really nice as the noodles they use are special. They are chewy and cooked just right, mixed with a good variety of sauce that brings out the natural flavor of the noodles and shrimp filled dumpling are just the perfect surprise for the day. The portion is not good enough for me, after finishing my plate, I would love to have another, its either too yummy or just not enough...
Love the breakfast toast and egg sets too. You get to choose from the regular traditional kaya toast, or polo bun kaya creations or the ham and cheese toast that looked just like a mini pizza. Toast are crunchy, full flavoured and eggs are properly blanched and opened for ease of eating.
We kinda didn't enjoy the breakfast as much as they made us all 8 squeeze into a 6 man seat though they do have other tables available. The tables are not exactly clean and the service staffs are loud, unfriendly and mostly just talking among themselves rather not attentive to customer's request. Though food is yummy and a little higher priced, if I can avoid, I might as well will.
A pretty interesting outlet, Gong Cha at the West Coast Plaza serves up a good mix of coffee, tea, juicies and anything in between. The interesting concoctions that I really like include Winter Melon Tea with Cream, Bubble Milk Tea and Caramel Milk Tea.
Service is prompt and you get to choice the level of sweetness you want. Upon ordering and payment you will receive a receipt with your queue number. I'm impressed by the serving speed, in a jiffy before I could strike a decent conversation with my friend, my queue number is called upon.
The end product is a clean looking cuppa yummy dessert hot sealed in a durable plastic cup accompanied by a conveniently sealed straw. Love the fact I could choose the sugar level but pearls are chargeable and the drinks only come in a standard regular size.
Price: 2.5/5 (As compared to similar chains, i think they are more expensive and they charge for pearls in which some other similar shops don't)
Convenience: 3.5/5
Service;4/5
Cleanliness of outlet: 4/5
worthiness: 3/5
Will I come back : Yes

A charming place for breakfast surrounded by some lush greenery and freshly baked swiss affair... Breakfast here is like a fresh air from the hilly pastures. Freshly baked wholesome bread with the aromatic brew of premium coffee and the soft piped music is totally relaxing and soothing.
This is a standalone outlet next to the escalator of Rochester Mall and dressed in its signature red and white, this cafe looks rather cute and appealing. Not many tables, I will say approximately 20 pax max and a barside table that house about 4 more... But I love the quietness of the place. They serve up a wholsome range of their gourmet breads and a good bistro menu as well.
Feel things I love...
1) Yogurt and Muesli ($4.50) - You can get them from the self-serve fridge, its really yummy and wholesome. Premium yogurt that is delicious and good quality fruits and nuts muesli.
2) Toast with Coffee breakfast set - Just 2 slices of German blended bread toasted and some butter and jam is delightful....
3) KraftKorn Sandwich ($8.90). - I love the grainy and savoury kraftkorn bread, however it is only available via the sandwich bar, so do check it out before ordering the sandwich else they will come in ciabatta styled.
Dining there was good, service was so so.... and my sandwich was 45mins late because they kinda totally forgotten about my order, however they apologised and I accepted that. The staff are not very attentive and while they speak it was pretty hard for me to understand what they are talking about. They seemed happy but too noisy as the place is small. Dining area is fairly clean but seats are not very comfortable, however the natural sunlight is great and air-conditioning sufficient. Food is yummy as premium ingredients are used and reading materials sufficient to occupy your time. Would prefer with free wifi also however they don't have that.
Will I come back: Sadly I think so as I love the setting and location
Will I bring my friends: Sadly we just have to endure the non attentive service because the food is yummy and the place is nice!
