    146. Suntec City Mall

Have you been to the newly refurbished Suntec City Mall... especially the Convention center portion. Its glossy and up class new flooring made me excited as I walk into the mall.. The spick and span outlook is entirely different from the old layout. I could not recognize the mall at all and I applaud they for removing tiny corridors, walkways that leads to nowhere and weird spaces tucked at some corners.

It feels more spacy and with more retail shops as well as dining entities. I love the new concept and the toy looking seats they put at the foyer. The shops looked chic and extremely up class with its super high ceiling and top to bottom glass displays. Brightly lit with beautiful lighting and somehow I feel the shops and aisle have been rearranged to ease traffic flow.

The entrance to the convention center now is a open concept, non aircon foyer that is next to the drop off zone. I love the escalator... Its one of the longest in town and fast moving.. I can't help but grab hold of the handrails tight as if I'm gonna slip... I guess its a long way down... The huge display screen in between the escalators is both functional and makes the place so techy.

I love the array of shops I see and I also notice many new eateries... One of which only sells milkshakes and have a logo that resembles BURGER KING... wondering what it is... drop down to the new SUNTEC MALL and have a look yourself :)

We decided on Grill-Out because of this fantastic promo we saw on the entrance to the restaurant. It says set meal for 2 - $38 , set meal for 4 - $68 and we thought it was quite a good deal.

While we are shown to a not so big seating area, the serving staff was nice to let us choose the seats of our delight. It was about 7:30pm on a faithful sunday evening and there was not many tables left. While we are shown the menu, as we indicated we wanted the promo set, we were informed that Sirloin Steak, Salmon Steak and Vongole Pasta had ran out and we were left with only a choice of pork loin, lamb steak and a seafood pasta and these are what we are chosen.

Appetizers were a grill out salad which is a toss of greens on balsamic vinegar and olive oil OR mushroom soup which is creamy and very tasty. I kinda envied those who chose the soup, as its really yummy. However both portion is small.

Our drinks came, we were entitled to juices, either orange or lime which tasted cordial to me and ice water and warm water were served promptly. The mains arrived and I was surprised by their equally small portion. The meat on some mash and some greens drizzled with a chunky bbq sauce... thats it.

The pork loin was juicy and crispy, I should say pretty well made and the sauce goes well with the meat. Mash is yummy and creamy and paired with balsamic olive oil drizzled greens is a good way to balance the taste.

The Lamb steak comes in thin slices. We asked for medium well and it is as so. The lamb is juicy and tasty and easy on chewing.

The seafood pasta is a below expectations. The seafood is just 3 pieces of prawn with 2 mussels. Mussels tasted normal and 3 prawns were shrinky small and not fresh at all. They were dry and no taste to it. The pasta is a bed of spaghetti with nothing more than drizzled with Olive oil. The pasta tasted blend, there is no characteristic to it but the texture is okay. This entire dish i must say is a failure. This i learnt.. when we go to a grill restaurant please just order the meat as the pasta or other stuffs are definitely not their forte.

I love gelato, they are beautiful, flavorful and always exciting, however Vitalia Gelato though supposedly authentic italian handcrafted is not as exotic as the name sounds. The flavors are pretty limited, they have about 15 flavors and the usual stuffs like mango, chocolate chip, caramel and the exotic ones like durian.

The ice creams were not dressed as beautifully as the ones we see at other malls, however they are big in taste. Creamy and of the right balance in taste. We could taste the bitterness of the burnt sugar in the caramel yet its sweet and yummy.

However we were disappointed, as of the promotion, there is suppose to be a free cone and we were not given any but a white paper cup.. Our 2 scoops of gelato were tiny, we expected at least a ANDERSON's size. FREE TOPPINGs were almost no toppings at all, It was just 6 flavored syrup for you to choose from the bottles on the top.

Ice-cream is nice but we kinda felt cheated by the promotion.

I arrived to a neon signage that says THE GRANDSTAND on a faithful sunday evening for a dine out! Let me guess... Its been like 5 years since I've visited this place and formerly a turf club that bears horses and exciting races, this place is set in the lush greenery somewhere in bukit timah. Its not an easy place to get to but they sure did make it better with proper signage and directions.

I must say this is a pretty unique place and they sure did a good renovation. The old and faithful GIANT supermarket is still there however, they do not bear as great a range of products as before and the freshness level has surely gone down.

The number of restaurants available is astounding. Restaurants with various themes, serving a good range of asian and western cuisines. Theres also an interesting Vegan Burger Joint that I would love to try the next time. Many things have been upgraded and I love the small little parkway that links the walkway allowing alfresco dining to be a little more romantic then a roadside scenery.

Its a nice place to pop by for meals... and theres so many restaurants to try out.. I guess it will take me more than a month to try them all out. They do have a shuttle service, however I seemed to not have seen the bus anywhere.

Love the ample parking space and most importantly, FREE PARKING...

Somehow, I find Sportslink stuffs much nicer then the other sports departmental stores... First they carry a good range of all the big brands such as NIKE, ADIDAS, PUMA and not to mention some china brands such as ERKE... This outlet is a neatly arranged shop with my favourite bargain racks with reduced price items.

I was surprised by the quality of some of the other wannabe brand's items such as Erke... Though it sounds eeekeee.... the items were quite well made with pretty quality materials such as quick dry and dry fit shorts. Though the designs are usually copycats and not attractive to the eyes, its sure worth the space at the bargain racks. If you would like some sports wear comfy enough for home wear, then you can buy some Erke apparels.

The other items on display are pretty similar to World of Sports and Royal Sporting House like the sport shoes, sport equipment, Sport Apparel and accessories. Its not particularly special in anyway, however you might grab a good bargain.. You never know until you have shopped...
