This is a real old cinema, though the outside foyer have been renovated and the BOX Office at the ground floor turned into an ice-cream parlor, the location of the cinema, entrances and number of halls are still the same. Perhaps a better screen, projection and sound system. It feels the same to me.
I was there the other day to catch a lazy weekend afternoon movie with a friend, because its been a long while since we watched a movie at this theatre, we couldn't find the box office. All we see are the counters that sells food and drinks. Little did we know that the food and drinks counter also sells movie tickets. How convenient now... So we bought our movie tickets and there is no where else to hang as we have an hour before our movie starts, unlike before when there are plenty of space to seat and relax before going into the theatre now you can only find one fashion shop that sells anything from hippy bags, clothing, funny mobile phone accessories and fashion must-haves and the Cafe called 'everything with fries'
So after a quick bite at everything with fries, we entered into the theatre with the rest of the patrons. Its pretty crowded for a location with another movie theatre so close by at BUGIS and we gladly got seated. The chairs have been upgraded to a more comfy version of the plush seats and the place looked pretty clean with no sticky cup holders or pop corn scattered floors. The movie went on well and to access the rest room you have to laterally get out of the theatre to the lift lobby. There are ample cubicles say about 10-15 but there is still a queue when the movie ends.
I must say the experience is pretty good though service is almost non-existent. I'm just glad I don't have to get out of the cinema via some fire-escape stairway or foul smelling corridors. You get out the same way you come in and I really appreciate that.

Attended a function at the Jubilee Hall and I find it pretty nice. The architecture of the entire Raffles hotel is nostalgia and the entire hall is made up of ancient oiled wood. Wooden plushed chairs, warm lightings on a old school Victorian styled chandeliers, sculpted wooded barricades and a completely wooden stage. Love the warm color scheme and the classic elegant style of the place.
The stage is not exactly big but is ample to house a good play or concert of about 30 - 50 pax with ample space to move around. Acoustics is good as microphone-less performance could be held without much sweat. Love the wooden window panels as they surely make the place feel comfy and nostalgia.
It was a very pleasant event for me and I love the staircases in the raffles hotel. The entry to this hall is also grand and classically styled. The restrooms I must say is pretty well-kept however some areas still requires a little bit of touch up. I love the little details like the tap is also classic victorian styled and the mirrors and cubicle doors are also encased in wood. Its nice and very vintage.
myCK is a shop that I visit for toiletries because they are always priced much cheaper then what I can get at the supermarket bearing the same brand, same capacity and I suppose they are the same thing.
The things I always buy are shower gels, shampoos (normal and travel size), facial wash and stuffs like colgate, mouth wash and other daily necessities. Though you might not be able to find english descriptions at the back of the bottle, they are essentially the same thing. They smell the same, has the same texture and does the job great. Sometimes I do find some interesting things that you may not find in regular supermarkets such as hair and body wash of a specific brands or discontinued toiletries that you just simply LOVE to use.
Other household items are priced very reasonably too. Expect to find your washing detergents, cleaning apparatus and household cutlery priced lower then usual. They also do sell basics such as slippers, jeans, t-shirts, shirt, etc however i have never bought them from here before. You can also find candy and snacks like potato chips, biscuits, coffee mix etc, however I do not find them exceptionally cheap.
So I only come here for my standard toiletries which is cheap and good.
Love this healthy main on the go... QQ Rice are rice balls that is filled in the inside with the condiments of your choice. You have 5 types of rice to choose from and mostly the healthy choices of brown rice, mixed healthy grains, etc. Choice of condiments includes fish floss, egg, salted veg, pickles, etc etc etc...
Its like having mixed vegetable rice on the go. Extremely easy to eat.. thats if you know how.. I would usually squeeze while i eat. Continually "patch up" the hole you have eaten.. Hm.. sounds a little funny but thats where the fun is. This is how you prevent the rice ball from breaking apart and how you could ensure you get a mouthful of rice with everything nice inside.
A traditional breakfast for the Taiwanese, these rice balls are a healthy and nutritious complete meals that is easy to eat and wholesome. Sadly, the auntie behind the counter did not provide enough wholesome condiments and there are even things like cheese.. its kinda weird for me to have rice balls with cheese. For the price paid, i rather have a plate of mixed vegetable rice as i might get more dishes to go along.
Location: 3.5/5 Service: 2.5/5 - i hope the auntie knows what she is doing. giving me soo little of everything and loads of rice. Convenience: 3.5/5 Food: 2.5/5 (The taiwanese still does it better)
Will I try it again: Hardly Will I intro my friends: Hardly Possible if I want to keep my reputation.
Lunching at this outlet is quite a breeze judging by the sheer size of the restaurant, expect plenty of seats, space and plenty of people. However i find service not as prompt as I expected.
Went there for lunch and was disappointed by the service though its a little bit for lunch hour, I still get the lunch menu and lunch set in which was a fantastic deal. For the Lunch Set I got a main with rice, an appetize and dessert and its cost between $8.90 for today's special to $18.90 for a premium lunch set.
There were plenty of seats however, its not easy to tread around. I suspect the larger then life arm chairs are to blame for the unease in moving around. The staff dressed in bright orange are cheerful and quick however we felt a little bit ignored, perhaps its the corner seat, it took quite abit to get their attention and sometimes it gets frustrating.
The food was pretty yummy, most thai food are. I find the green curry a little too watery and salty, I've tries better green currys.... The red tom yum fish is spicy and sweet, its normal, not much of a wow factor. The dessert however is pretty interesting.. I've got these crunchy orange cubes of sweet potato of a mix of half cooked and fully cooked texture, so you get the mushy ones and the crunchy ones all at the same time.. Its pretty interesting.
Location: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Food: 3.5/5 Ambience: 3/5 Price Worthy: 3/5 (perhaps a 4 for lunch)
Will I come back: For dessert only Will I bring my friends: If they insist....
I still miss the time when I went to this thai restaurant where they give you a basket of prawn crackers which is refillable for free before you even ordered... Where is that.... hm.......
