This is the usual hangout for me and my family. The aviary ktv situated at level 2 of The Chevron's Club is a great place for family gatherings and chit-chatting afternoons.
I was there the other sunday afternoon and I was glad that there were plenty of seats available in the hall. The hall is a huge enclosure with one KTV set with a large projector screen with somewhat and small stage and tvs everywhere. You could order beverages and start singing. Singing is free as long as you order a drink and the free-flow of maruku has been the my best buddy to tide me over the noisy singing sessions. Be sure to order also the sotong balls, chicken wings and seafood tofu... These are the few things i love to order and they taste fabulous.
I love the simplistic designs and the casual ambiance. Its more like a family thing, though no fanciful lighting or professional equipment, i think the sound system they have there is pretty good. The main hall can seat around 50 - 80 people with 6 sets of huge family couches complete with comfy pillows and some small tables of 5-6 pax. I love the fact that they do have 2 pool tables and 2 sets of dart machines to entertain the non singers.
The selection of songs are excellent, they have various languages and genre. If you would like to sing in the privacy of the room, there are about 10-15 rooms for you to book. Love the fact that the names of the rooms are all types of BIRDS...
Serving attitude is great but looks rather short handed mostly. I find them easy going and prompt which is fine by me. The toilets are ample and clean, air-conditioning have no stinky smell, floor is not sticky, and cushions not mushy... So i should say its pretty comfy and best of all its open to public.. So even if you are not an SAF staff, you may also pop by. Exclusive location and great pricing :)
A new outlet for all bread lovers. I was really curious with never-ending queue forming at this bread outlet spotted while enjoying my favorite kway chup at the coffee shop... The queue moves quickly and yet it goes on and on... So after my yummy lunch, i've decided to pop by and take a look.
WOW.... where can you find $0.60 buns in Singapore? Here you have a good variety of various flavored buns all below $1... I was utterly shocked and have decided i must a good variety to try all the buns to see if they are good...
Butter Bun ($0.60) A shiny full flavored bun that I find a tad too oily but yet its not dry like the other buns. Great to go along with some mushroom soup
Cranberry Cheese ($0.90) A soft and fluffy bun with a mouthful of creamy cheese on every bite. You can still taste a little of cranberry despite the overwhelming cheese and the size is just as any regular buns but fluffier.
Golden Sand Bun ($0.90) Is a mixture of salted egg custard which is the latest hot favourite. It tasted more sweet and I couldn't taste the salted egg at all.
Black Sesame Peanut Bun ($0.90) Is an interesting old school combination. More creamy then nutty yet we don't find this flavor elsewhere.
Its very value for money and the buns are the regular sized. I love the idea that the buns are sold cheap and the ingredients and quality are not compromised, in that way, everybody gets to enjoy it without feeling the pinch and its the good stuffs... Good Job :)
Popped by this outlet the other day.. I must say the view is really beautiful. Though a little too sunny for my liking, its a great place to chill on a weekend afternoon. The corner location is nice, its like a little hideaway in a bustling mall, though this mall is hardly bustling...
The selections of drinks is plentiful though we had the regular milkshakes and coffee, they do serve some alcohol inspired coffee based cocktails which i find rather refreshing. Food served are regular cafe chomps which makes a decent meal if you ask me... Quality of food is pretty decent for the price paid and service is just so so. They see you they see you, if they don't then you have to exercise your hands further.
A few things i hope there will be improvements: 1) Power points for charging of laptops or other electronic devices 2) WIFI... I cannot even access the free public wifi 3) Some sun shades - translucent kind will help cut down the afternoon sun 4) Sound proofing in the kitchen / staffs are talking too loud.. Its not obvious if the cafe is crowded but when its not, we could here your laughter and conversation which is rather rude i suppose.
High Cut Canvas Shoes have come a long way since my teenage years. I remember how excited I was when my dad got me my first pair of school shoes that bears the round CONVERSE logo. The fabric skin and the thick rubber soles though a tad too heavy is extremely long lasting. I loved it so much that i even wears my converse school shoes out when I hang with my friends on weekends.
Walking into the Converse Boutique really brought back many fond memories. The high cut ever famous canvas shoes now comes in a various hue of interesting colours and material. I love the black leather high cuts as it fits my now matured identity and looks stylish with a tinge of casualness. Though they have female cuts and designs now for their shoes, I must say most of their shoes are unisex and they do have huge sizes for my huge feet.
I am also glad to see various other merchandises like school bags, t-shirts, checkered shirts, belts, socks and other go to school and go out to play MUST HAVES... After browsing through the many shoe designs, I ended up being pretty fond of this high cut leather textured shoe that i deem good for my active lifestyle. While I have a pair of odd sized feet, the staff brought out a couple of sizes for me to try on and it made me feel good. I've decided to buy this pair of shoes though priced steeply at S$99.90, with the instore discount, I had a 30% discount which i find it pretty good.
Overall, though the shop wasn't very big, I find it comfortable for me to walk around, merchandises are neatly stacked and the staff was friendly and helpful. Payment was swift and I'll be sure to be back for more shoes.
I was shopping at the *Scape Flea Market when I spotted a humble looking booth with nothing but a few t-shirts hanging off the make-shift clothe hanger. It made me curious because the rest of the other booths are packed with goods to sell as many as the birds perched on an evening tree and the shoppers chattling away while some sellers fanning themselves hysterically, all thanks to this very warm afternoon. This booth was quiet with some passer-by's empty glances. Then I noticed the t-shirt the seller was wearing.. It looked subtle, young yet very smart, somewhat a feeling that we seldom experience unless we come across something that intrigues the mind and brings out the fashionista inside you. So I went up to browse through the merchandises which is nothing but a few carefully hung pieces on the rack. The seller then introduced to me his products which are pieces designed by a local artist and is carefully sized according to our local SINGAPOREAN sizes. The designs are interesting with floral hems and pockets and with limited pieces produced and pretty good after sales and exchange services they provide, i hastily bought one piece for myself. I also love the fact that the item was pre-washed and it will not expand or colour-run.
Well supporting local talent is a social effort and being the owner of a local designed limited production top is a piece of art and a slice of SINGAPORE on the GO.....
