We were there for a weekday lunch amidst the hot afternoon sun and the place was crowded to the brim with many strangers sharing tables (a pretty sight though). The restaurant is not big and somehow a little run down (old school look means great food) and we were glad. Looks like its pretty popular and while the super efficient uncle served us our own private table for 4, we gladly accepted it though the table looked grimly greasy but the air-conditioning is what we would trade for, otherwise the clean alfresco tables under the hot sun.

There are loads of selections on the menu with many seafood cooked in 101 ways, we decided upon some street food Penang Style hoping to awaken the memories of our long ago vacation there. There were great many choices like prawn noodles, fried rice and even crabs was available yet i;ve chosen assam laksa and fried kway teow as i feel that they best represents my impression of Penang.

The Penang Assam Laksa ($4.80) arrived in a pretty small bowl with plenty of tasty condiments that were colourful with good blending of taste. Love the tangy taste and I must say its pretty spicy. I even finished the soup (claps for the one who takes ketchup instead of chilli sauce at McDonalds) because it was almost all filled with specks of fish meat. I must say this is a must try, super well executed and very yummy.

The Penang Fried Kway Teow ($7.50) for a medium portion was a tad too salty but fragrant and super yummy. Generous portion and the kway teow was soft, springy and looked slimmer then usual. We suspected that the chef might have forgotten and double dosed the salt, yet we still polished it off within minutes of it being served....

Mixed Honey Lime ($2.00) is one good drink to wash down everything with, perks up the tastebuds and refreshes the breath.... Time to go back to work.....

Location: 4/5 (Next to Aljunied MRT)
    Price: 3/5 (a tad pricy)
Service: 3.5/5 (Uncle is nice, some staffs has a face so long it hits the ground, but when we are blinded by yummy food, we tend to forgive on service)
Food: 4/5 (really yummy though it can't fight with those in Penang, yet its good enough)
    Environment: 3/5

    Will I return: Yes
    Will I bring friends: YES

Enjoyed dinner at the Chilis diner last friday evening and it was a pretty nice experience. Loved the nice windows pane booth like seats with a good selection of Mexican influence on the menu.

Though the frozen margaritas were a good deal and had such a good variety of flavour, we decided on the free flow lemonades which was refreshing and refillable.

Lemonade ($5.50) arrived in a nice cool mug and was tangy and sweet.

Strawberry lemonade ($5.50) similar to lemonade yet with a hint of strawberry and i simply loved the bits of berry seeds inside the drink....

Beef Enchiladas ($21.90) is a lovely soft taco roll of loads of chilli con carne with creamy beans and rice. Love the combination as the rich, cheesy and heavy enchiladas was balanced by the staple taste of rice and beans.

Fire Corn Guacamole ($11.50) was a huge serving of super crispy tortillas with 2 generous bowls of avocado dip and fiery salsa. Loved the mixture in taste and the generous ingredients inside the avocado dip. The chips were way to crispy and thin not to gobble up all. Overall this is the best loved dish for me.

Though the dessert selection was tempting as well as the brownie with ice-cream served in a pan at the next door table, we had no more tummy space after the large portions of food that were served.

The portion of food makes the price reasonable and expect to spend about $25 - $40 Per pax. Will return because its really nice.

      Food: 4/5
      Price: 3.5/5
Service: 3/5 (Took quite a while to get attention but refilling my drink is quick)
      Cleanliness: 3.5/5
Amenities: 3.5/5 ( The couch i seat on as got broken areas at the back of my knee that gave me a little rash)

      Overall: 4/5

Will Return and Will bring friends

One of my favourite haunts. Food is cheap and yummy in this market and love the nasi lemak and mee Siam from kuek\'s kitchen. Ingredients used are fresh and chicken wings are superlicious. Uncle is a friendly cheerful fellow with a generous portion served Everytime I buy his nasi lemak. The stall has a good track record of twenty over years.

Was here for a quick breakfast, wanton mee was particularly old school and uncle was really nice. Love the seating and the entire ambience of this coffee shop especially the seats nearer to the grass patch :) noodles were old school yummy with loads of fried pork fat. Wanton were just two but the fillings were extremely tasty :)
