Wing Kee is a popular stall selling Ipoh Horfun and Ba Chor Mee in the Changi Village Food Centre. It is the one with the red signboard and has been there for a long time, way before its rival sprung up next to it.
Well-known in the area, they have served many soldiers at the nearby camps well by providing a delivery service to the camps. Although they often have a queue in front of their stall, but they are fast and the customers don't have to queue very long. Also, they've not gotten my orders before, despite the large volume and the numerous times I've been there.
Food I always order: Chicken Cutlet Hor Fun / Mee ($3) YUMMY! My favourite food. I would prefer this to any posh restaurant fare any day. The crisp chicken pieces are delicious. The sauce is very tasty too and the serving is pretty reasonable.
Ba Chor Mee ($3) Lots of minced meat in this dish unlike the tiny portions of meat found in other places. Even the meatball is handmade and more chewy with no fatty bits.
My only grievance is that the stalls in the area produce a lot of smoke which makes me gag when I'm in the food centre. My eyes tear occasionally too so it's a little irritating. but I'm willing to put up with that little discomfort. a MUST TRY!
Pretty handmade accessories can be found in this blogshop!
I'm not sure whether or not its true, but personally, i feel that the owner of this blogshop specializes in designing necklaces. The pendant designs are unique and intricate, and are well-made.
I had a love-at-first-sight experience with one piece (out of 2) of necklace which i purchased from this blog. It didn't look as heavenly and fantastic as it did in the pictures (thanks to photoshop), but nevertheless, it was very pretty and well-made, and i didn't regret my purchase.
The necklaces were very well packed (in bubble wrap) in the mail and i even had difficulties trying to pry the wrap apart! Very secure!
Could put in more effort on other accessories, perhaps? Only a few are captivating. The rest aren't exceptional.
The blogshop owner's replies aren't very prompt too. Maybe once every 2 or 3 days, unlike others whom i've encountered. They reply very promptly on the same day!
All in all, this blogshop is definitely still worth checking out. Especially the necklaces! However, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so you got to check it out to determine for yourself!
Not much can be seen from this blogshop. I have no idea when this blogshop was started but there's only ONE spree going and there's only ONE thing for anyone to click.
Disclaimer and instructions for potential buyers are stated by clearly, good job.
Oh yes, and the only current spree links to a website that displays in CHINESE only. What happens if shoppers of other races who don't understand mandarin chance upon it and are interested in purchasing some items?
Great job on neatness on the site though. It visually pleasing to see and with some sprucing up, it could really be a pleasure to scour! Very unlike other blogshops which are too cluttered and lack explanations on how to order etc., or leave those information right to the very end at the far far bottom of the page.
Went there for the first time on Valentine's Day because my boyfriend made a reservation there.
I believe they are best known for their pastries, so i went there with an expectation.
My boyfriend and i had a couples set dinner and it consisted of 6 courses. Generally, the presentation of the food was simple and clean-cut. Adequate, but not visually very enticing. The main course came in a rather small portion. It filled me up nicely (because i'm a small eater who is never able to finish my food!) and i enjoyed it thoroughly!
The desert was the best, in my opinion. Chocolate love pastries. It was basically chocolate mousse contained in a white chocolate "tube" which had colourful pictures printed on the walls. Very simple, yet very pretty! In the middle was a cavity that held raspberry sauce! It was a little too sweet, but i liked it alot nevertheless, given my sweet tooth!
The service of Ricciotti is also great. As my boyfriend and i chose to sit outdoors, it was very windy and our candle kept going out! The staff who was on duty outside was consistently very prompt in relighting the candle, even though i'd expect it to be rather tiresome having to do so ever so often! It just goes to show that they will do their best to uphold the image of Ricciotti.
Furthermore, the staff provided a special polaroid-taking service on that day for couples! I thought that was a very nice touch on top of everything else.
Ricciotti is situated at Riverwalk, next to Home Club. Do drop by and visit it!
Went to La Mian & Xiao Long Bao from Crystal Jade @ Jurong Point last weekend with my parents!
Was surprised that they had renovated, although it appeared too dark upon entering, very much different to its past bright concept!
Order the Saliva Chicken La Mian for myself, surprisingly it has the Chinese taste, very original taste. Despite being cold noodles, I'll give it a thumbs up! very tasty.
As usual, the xiao long bao was ordered, reached the usual standards!
Customer service was good as whenever my cup of chinese tea is emptied, the waitress will come to fill it up!
When you're in Genting Highlands, finding good food to eat could be a major problem as you could not rely on fast food all the times and the food court's food are kinda crappy! Thus, you would have to patron one of the restaurants, however most of their prices are on the high side unless you had made a big win in one of the casino!! Despite not winning anything from the casino, I decided to dine at Restoran Good Friends on my second night stay!
It was crowded as usual, maybe many people won tons of money from the casino. I gave myself just minimum pampering by ordering just the cheaper and simple food instead of those food for the high rollers!!! I ordered the following:
Pork ribs old cucumber soup - tasted okay but it's kinda oily!! Roasted chicken with cashew nuts - just like the photo shows, look and taste good! Kai Lan with garlic - not bad, but the garlic not enough lei!! Foo Yong Egg - this one tasted well and it goes well with the chilli sauce!! Plain rice - of course all these need to go with some plain rice, tio bo?
However I discovered something interesting on my table, it might not be interesting for fellow Malaysian as this feature could be found in other restaurants. Nevertheless, it very innovative as it used broadband frequency to activated the waiters and waitresses for the above mentioned services. It's very effective as I tried pressing it a few times and the waiter/waitress came to my table within a minute!!!
Maybe Singapore restaurants should try this to make away the problem of waving your hand and none of the waiter or waitress could see you!!!
Located at 60 Jalan Mempurong, Singapore 759058, off Sembawang Road. It should consider as a rural part of Singapore as it is so deep inside Sembawang, luckily I got the driving instructions.
I decided to give Sembawang Eating House (Seafood Restaurant) a try even though the price looked pricey but there are still those common zi-char items at reasonable prices.
There's preserved vegetable while waiting for food to arrive, I ordered Sambal kang-kong, Fu-rong egg and Fried bean-curd.
Well, the food that I ordered tasted reasonably ok, except the kang kong was a bit oily, the egg salty but the fried bean curd tasted very nice!! Actually I ordered another hotplate beef which did not arrived, luckily it didn't came as I can't finish the food and need to tak-pao home!
My virgin trip to Hotpot Culture was with a bunch of mad Yebbers! The company certainly made the entire experience a great one. That aside... let's take a look at the restaurant itself.
Not too hard to realise that this is a steamboat restaurant but they give each patron their own little pots and soup of choice. There are 5 to pick from and I picked Chicken Soup. Sadly the Kimchi one seemed nicer but my throat was acting up again so Chicken it was for me. But the Chicken stock had very little taste and only started having some taste after I threw some chicken bits in.
For the steamboat there was enough variety for me though more would have been nice. But there was quite a bit of cooked items though. I thought it's quite special for a steamboat place to have so many cooked items. I liked the cooked items, especially the rojak chicken!! haha but it was a terror on my weak throat. Nonetheless i had a good share of that!
I think the best part was the chocolate fondue which they also have! Usually such places only serve fruit for dessert so this is a really nice conclusion to the dinner. :)
We dropped by at Charles Stefano at parkway after recommendations from another friend. It’s in a prominent area, right in the centre of near the escalator so there’s no way you can miss it.
It’s one of the few places (if not the only one) that sells stainless steel jewellery. I’m sure everyone’s heard of gold and silver… but this one is stainless steel. It feels more solid and nice to hold in comparison to silver. And it doesn’t tarnish like silver does. However, the designs are much chunkier. But some of the designs have Cubic Xirconia and diamonds on them which is a nice touch to the more expensive range.
We were very undecided when we got there as we didn’t even planned to get a pair of rings. But the lady was very patient with us, letting us try 10 designs and different sizes before we chose the ones we wanted. She also patiently offered advice on what sizes we should take to avoid discomfort.
We paid $40 for our pair of stainless steel rings.
I was very satisfied with the service and will probably head there to buy if I had to get a gift for my younger, funkier friends.
The cakes are of huge potion. These was 4 of us and we share 2 cakes which was enough to fill our 4 stomach…
Food Ordered: Carrot Carrot One of the best carrot cakes I have had. The texture was just right. It wasn’t hard like some but soft and spongy enough with the cream (whatever u call it ) on top. Highly recommended.
Mashmallow chocolate cake It is a just another dessert cake. Nothing special about it but it is rich.It is very rich in chocolate.I can’t really taste the sweetness of the mashmallows which is really weird. Pasta Pasta had lotsa of rockets on top..which I like. I thought it was quite unique as one wouldn’t normally find that much veg on a pasta
Ambience is good. We had chosen to sit outside the café instead of in the shop. The lighting is brighter. Although u are sitting in the midst of all shop, surprising it was not noisy. Maybe because we had gone on a weekday instead of the ends. The service was excellent with a little pot of water to refill our glasses of water.
