Met up with CG for a dinner date and since she wanted soup n me Yaki Udon, we decided upon dining at this establishment i never noticed @ Suntec(yes im slow).
I got the Yaki Udon, CG had the Char Siew Ramen(Spicy Level 2) and we ordered Grilled Chicken and Salmon Cheeze Fry as sides. I had Sprite n CG had Green Tea.
Food came quite fast. I was happy they managed to change the Seafood in the dish to chicken and it tasted quite good. Udon was springy and the Spicyness level was ok. added the chilli powder to make it slightly more spicy. I liked the grilled chicken which was cooked just nice. Not too hard and chewy. The Salmon Cheese fry reminds me of the Salmon frm Yoshinoya, but i liked it anyway.
Service was ok. Our request to change tables was followed through and my request to change The seafood in my dish to chicken was allowed. Green Tea was topped up when they noticed CG's drink was finished.
the total bill only came up to 29 which i did not expect as we ordered drinks and sides so i was pleasantly surprised.
like the previous reviewer i have tried the coco exotic and loved it from the start. i always have a soft spot for cakes with hazelnut crunch in it and after trying the coco exotic i have stopped buying my usual chocolate obsession(which is also very good if u like cakes that are a mix of chocolate, vanilla cream mousse).
also check out the cream puff, the puff pastry is crispy and light and the cream inside is rich, tasty and not too sweet. at 1.15 it is quite reasonable for something which is quite sizable. and of course the mini pastries. usualli ill get the danish with chocolate filling in the middle, bt i notice some new additions, including a fromage which looks like a fish. its a danish with melted cheese and sugar. yummy to take home and reheat in the oven till crispy.
I m also a big fan of the almond cookies, crunchy, with a good amount of almonds, you dont get that weird taste in your mouth after eating too much(like some cookies with way too much baking soda). the chocolate version is a bit too heavy for my liking though).
try the other pastries like the chocolate crossaint, caterpillar and the donuts are ok too
crepes, nutella crepes, nutellacrepes with white chocolate.
close to being in heaven i think.
sure i kinda scalded my tongue cos it was still hot when i bit into the crispy yet soft crepe and the warm delicious chocolate. it is such a guilty pleasure yet i dont mind spending 3-4 dollars for something so delicious and good. some places really do not serve up good crepes but saybons does.
bf got the apple cinnamon one n i liked it, not too much cinammon was used but could still taste both the apple with a hint of cinammon.but still love my chocolate one.
i find the concept very fresh n intresting.the focaccia bread was good too, not super hard and very flavourful, goes very well with the garlic spread.
have yet to try the soups though.
theres always the next visit.
staff are young but professional, friendly..accomodating n always have a smile on their face.
I have yet to try J.Co but till today donut factory is my ultimate favourite donut place. I can easily buy a dozen donuts but half a dozen of em are the double chocolate donuts.
The first time i tried it i felt like i was in heaven. The delicious white chocolate coating and the surprise of a chocolate filling.
It was purely sinful indulgence. I found the peanut butter filling a bit too much though. A bit too thick to me. But another flavour i liked was the kaya. Some people do not like the taste of kaya but i liked it. esp with the layer of glaze around it.
The cheese donut tasted like a pizza, I am ok with it but doubt ill buy more of it. The raspberry heart shaped donut is nice but too too sweet. it might be good if they used dark chocolate instead of white. Rarely get the normal hazelnut or chocolate/peanut butter donut but another one i like is the mocha almond. plenty of delicious crunchy almonds and the mocha flavouring isnt too overwhelming. I hope they open an outlet in the east soon. somehow travelling to raffles and suntec seems too far for me.
The meatballs have always intrigued me as everyone keeps raving about it but due to my religion I'm not able to eat it. But its ok, the salmon is my ultimate favourite until today. If i ever go Ikea its always on a friday as that is the day they have the fish and chips too. The salmon may be small in portion but for the price that Im paying, i dont mind. It even tastes good. The sauce is my favourite and i like the broccoli that comes along with it.
The chicken wings are definitely the highlight.
Crispy, hot and tastes oh so sinfully good. Itll b good if they used thighs too. Cant help it i love the thighs more than the wings.
Desserts are good too. Tried the daim cake.yummy. Its like a tart but with daim goodness in it. The princess cake is not bad too. Though my favourite is still the daim cake.
Have yet to try the asian dishes though. Heard the halal nasi padang is passable but a bit on the pricey side for nasi padang.
If you are an ikea friends member(my dear mom is), can get complimentary drink or something. Not too sure but it is worth it to be an ikea friend.
