Bought a couple of cakes to go for valentines day..
Firstly the service was good..i called to order the cakes and the lady i spoke to took down my number sayin to call back as she was busy and she did..she was very helpful explaining the cakes to me and what was in the cakes..
i ordered the
Jupiter, Tiramisu, Mont Blanc, Creme Caramel and Chocolate Classique. Why did i order so much..
cos it comes in a realli realli nice box.
It originally came in another box but i wanted the bigger one so i asked. and even though the bigger box was for purchases of 7 to 8 cakes and i bought 5, the lady obligied and proceeded to transfer the cakes into the bigger and prettier box..
Me n bf tried abit of everything.
Jupiter-dark chocolate was heaven...melted in my mouth and i savoured it. it has good texture and i enjoyed it very much.
Creme Caramel was good too, the wasnt too much like pudding and wasnt too sweet yet can really taste the caramel and the delicious cream. i ended up drinking the caramel like a shot..
Chocolate classique was delicious too but i found it a bit too dense..liked the white meringue it came with..the next day i heated it in the microwave and tried it again and loved it...it was softer and really good warm..
I didnt try the tiramisu but my bf liked it. looked really good though..
Next to my favourite. the mont blanc.i just loved how it was like a cake but it wasnt. it was really really really good. I could taste the delicious hazlenut and the tart was crumbly and still not soggy or soft..its now my favourite tart.
didnt get to try the macaroons but i have heard they are nice. will be sure to try some next time
Where else can u get a burger where u can choose what u want on it?
My first time at billy bombers was with my ex and we decided to get the plain burger and choose what we wanted to put in it..
First the burger..i choze chicken naturally while my ex got medium rare beef. I loved how the chicken was so tender and juicy..it reminded me of a chicken chop..not those patty ramlee burger like chicken..and it wasnt dry!!
As for the toppings, i the american chilli, onion rings and melted cheese..
The american chilli was well alright..it wasnt too spicy which was what i wanted though. But i really enjoyed the onion rings.they were huge and crunchy and the serving was generous for $1.50..and lastly..the cheese..u know those soup bowls they serve at pizza hut..well it came in that!!n they filled up like 3/4 of the bowl with cheeze!!!how sinful is that..naturally my fries all went into the cheeze..Overall i liked the burger n the fact that i can choose my toppings(not realli a big fan of the normal burgers here)..
My ex'es choices sad to say sucked..he choze jalepeno chilli and a cheese slice for his burger..yeah boring..i just rolled my eyes and warned him to leave my melted cheese alone..
The Loved the concept there..the chairs are all so diner-ey n retro n the whole movies/jukebox concept is cool too..not ur average restaurant..as for service..the uniforms are cute..wouldnt mind workin there and theyre really patient and attentive..no order mess ups here..especially cos i have a thing about not likin mayo or mustard on my burgers..and soft drinks are free flow(thank god) tho it came in a glass so huge i tink id have to run to the loo 1st to capitalise on the free flow...
Dont forget to try their malts and shakes..so far thumbs up for the chocolate n vanilla malt n the cookies n cream milkshake..creamy,thick and oh so fattening but wait..i dont care..
Sure ull leave the place slightly depressed cos u just blew like 20 bucks for a burger and drinks(which are free flow by the way)but cmon..once in a while..no mcdonaldslah...
And they alwez have sum promo where u can get vouchers..so the nxt time ur wallet wnt b crying too much..
Was gleefully happy that the place was half full when i arrived..
love the cool decor n esp the booth seats..altho when i arrived they were all occupied
so we were shown to another couple booth thingy..long table(so can order a lot muahahaha)...
bf n i decided to get the calamari($6.90)(duh), chicken n shrimp combo($17.90) for me...
n philly steak sandwic($11.90) for him..n after debatin over onion rings(5.90) n cheese balls($6.90) we choze onion rings...n we got free nachos..cos i was payin with a dbs/posb card n we had already spent more than 40
onion rings..well theyre onion rings..tasted like those u get in the supermarket n fry urself..
The calamari rocked. The batter wasnt too overwhelming..And the calamari was easy to eat..not the kind u have to cut into a few pieces n chew and chew and chew. It can rival those from fish n co...I loved the dipping sauce it came with..was spicy with a peanut like taste..abit like satay sauce..dipped everything i ate in it. No chilli sauce for today
didnt get to try the bfs sandwic but he seemd to enjoy it. I did however steal his fries. they were crunchy and yummy
my chicken n shrimp..i had no complains..the chicken was done nicely..it was flavourful..n not hard. Well done. And the shrimp..battered nicely too. The shrimp was very crunchy and fresh. I liked it a lot. Reminded me to the LJS shrimp but a lot nicer.
The nachos were alright. They're nachos. Not much to say right nut I liked the cheese dip and the fact that the cheese came in a seperate mini bowl/ plate made the nachos not too soggy
I did try the fried mars bar once and it was good too. A bit on the pricey side though for a mars bar and ice cream but still good and very sinful.
Overall i love NYNY. Good and fast service, Good food that is different(where else can u find a main that consists of chicken, shrimp and even has salad-how balanced is that). And serves up a mean fried mars bar. Next time, I shall try their waffle and their chocolate fondue.
Im not a rice person..yes im partly malay but iv never been a big fan of ze grains..mayb cos it makes me full n i cnt try the other yummies at the table but eighteen chefs has totally changed my mind.
Each time i walk past the place i will debate with myself wether i should go anot..liked the decor but was hesitant cos well im not a rice person..but finally went there a few days back..amazinly on a thurs nite it wasnt crowded with students..it was pretty quiet and i had fun checkin out the nice decor
me n my bf decided to get a few things to share...I naturally wanted salad so we got the prawn salad..
the prawns were sooo nice!!!fresh n peeled and went well with the dressing..tink it was vinegar..forgot..but i loved the salad..one of my favs...
next came the snack platter..now im a huge calamari lover and iv been pretty dissapointed with the calamari i had at pizza hut..so it was nice that the calamari here isnt hard..the batter is juz nice..and it just melts in ur mouth..nuggets are well nuggets..same as the fries..but i have to mention the fish nuggets..they were my fav..and the onion rings too...
ok..now to the baked rice..i loved the fact that u can choose what base ud like n the topping..cos im not a fan of tomato..i chose the spicy garlic base n chicken sausage topping..it was delicious. i felt that maybe they should have added more sausages but all in all it was good. Rice was nice and not undercooked or overcooked and there was an abundance of cheese making it taste scrumptious.
but mayb its best to stay away from the pasta..tried the creamy chicken and well..found it quite bland..stick to baked rice...overall i liked the food..very filling and good..food came fast and utensils too..the staff had a smile on their face all the time. Furthermore they do not charge service charge yet they hav very helpful and attentive staff.
My first cafe cartel recently experience was at Plaza Sg on my birthday..
I went there a few years back and remembered the free flow of bread and their unique ordering style.
I love the free flow of bread, mainly because I love bread. And the butter/margarine provided is nice too. Ordered the supreme platter, oriental chicken salad, seafood pasta and a burger for my bf. dissapointed with the supreme platter as even though the menu stated that it came with the cheese waffle fries, it came with normal fries. but the nuggets were goof though. boyfriend had that crispy chicken burger which he seemed to like.
My favourite 2 dishes were the oriental chicken salad and the seafood baked pasta..
the salad was fresh..love my lettuce and the chicken wasnt hard..small pieces that prepare me for my next meal..and while im not one who likes salad dressing, i find this dresing light and quite refresing. not creamy like thousand island.
as for my baked pasta..the servings are generous..the prawns were fresh..squid didnt taste like rubber bands and sauce was tasty..i get to choose my sauce..either tomato or cream..definitely the latter..plus anything with cheese baked on top of it gets thumbs up from me..esp if its well baked..aka not too burnt..juz nice and brown..the cheese isnt hardened n u get that effect that the cheese stretches with each fork/spoonful of pasta u take..
love the service too..theyre so patient with my many requests for my food..like
-salad without dressing..
-no carrots..
more sauce..
and they alwez get the bread for me..even tho i dont mind gettin it myself..
worth it..esp since no 10%..juz the 7% charge..
Firstly the service was good..i called to order the cakes and the lady i spoke to took down my number sayin to call back as she was busy and she did..she was very helpful explaining the cakes to me and what was in the cakes..
