Everytime i go to AMK i would definitely walk over to the coffeeshop to get the currypuffs. The currypuffs are all hand-made so most of the time, the currypuffs that you get are all warm and piping!
Crispy on the outside but soft and filling on the inside. The curry filling is also mixed with an adequate amount of chicken, so it's more satisfying than eating other types of currypuffs which only have potato as filling.
Indeed the prices have risen alot since the past, but I will still continue getting tip top currypuffs :p
Came here for dinner upon recommendation by one of my friends. But it was a first try for the rest of us in the group.
Reached at close to 730pm and realised that there was a super long queue outside. but since my friend wanted to eat there, we waited in queue. We only got a table of 4 at 9pm. By then, we were starving.
Hoping for a good dinner to make up for the waiting time, we started ordering. Main courses and sides first, wanting to be served quickly, before thinking about the drinks and desserts we wanted.
The dishes came relatively fast, about 15 min. But we were shocked by the servings.
The Tako,Ika & Mentai pasta (16.80) which came first, was only about 1/3 of the gigantic plate it came on (My friend finished her meal before mine even arrived). Next on were the Katsu Tamatoji pasta (15.80) and cream seafood pasta (16.80). Servings were equally small.
I ordered a Doria with scallop and cheese (baked rice, jap style). Mine looked most presentable out of the 4 dishes we had. However, it wasn't baked well enough such that i felt like i was eating half-cooked campbell soup with rice.
Not to forget the side dish we ordered - Salmon Cheese (8.80) which came in 4 half pieces. This tasted the best out of everything that night, but I feel that the portion was not really worth the price.
Of course, we did not stay for dessert here and subsequently asked for the bill. The bill came up to 86 bucks for 4, without any drinks or desserts. Not a price that I would be willing to pay for such food.
Final highlight of the night - they mixed up the bills and gave us the wrong bill/change back. Had to wait some time before they sorted out and came back with the right check.
Similar to the above review, my family ordered KFC delivery to celebrate on Fathers' Day. Since the tastes of KFC is rather known to all, i shall comment on their delivery hotline and service instead.
When I called up, I was faced with 2 choices, to make a new order or to enquire on past orders. Since I havent tried home delivery for some time, I proceeded to enquire on my previous order. After waiting on the line for quite some time, an operator picked up the call.
Upon enquiry, she told me that my previous order was not available anymore and the only 8 piece chicken meal available was their current promotion of 8 pieces of chicken, 1 medium whipped potato, 1 medium coleslaw and 1 regular popcorn chicken with a free gift of 4 cups of agar jelly. I was ok with it and wanted to proceed with the order. But was told that currently i was being transferred to an enquiry line and so i had to make a call to the delivery line again and choose the 1st option instead.
So i called again and waited again and finally made my order. However was told that the delivery would take an hr and a half.
Finally when the delivery came, the family was already quite hungry. But when we opened the box, we realised that they gave us 8 pieces of original flavoured chickens, prior to my order of 4 pieces of crispy and 4 pieces of original chicken :(
Perhaps the next time i should just walk down to the store instead of getting a delivery.
was walking pass the city hall area the other day and was attracted by the attractive posters of cheap japanese food on the walls of this restaurant so decided to try it out.
It's located at e basement of funan, and you can choose to sit around the revolving sushi or at the tables at the side. Initially we wanted to have sushi but there was not enough space around the revolving top, so we decided to take the side tables and try the set meals instead.
The menu had the usual sets, including jap and korean style food and also some unique ones like sushi pizza (sushi ingredients but on pizza base), which i really felt like trying.
In the end we ordered a katsu curry set, seafood/oyako don set and a beef teriyaki set, plus some gyozas. The sets were normal but one thing to note is that the seafood/oyako don was of a very big portion. It came with a platter of fried seafood including fish, prawns, squids... and a big bowl of rice with meat egg and other ingredients mixed together. A definite value for money, think the set was only bout $11.90 :)
As usual, we spent a long time in the shop, chatting after we finished our meal. The service was rather good with the staff refilling our cups quite efficiently. Overall, was a rather good experience.
Chanced upon Just Acia when I was searching for a place to settle a late dinner, not wanting to eat or spend too much and also a place to chat with my friend. This cafe took up almost the whole of dhoby exchange? haha in my impression cos it had seating areas all around. Anyway, we were attracted by the free flow of drinks and ice cream so we settled on it.
I had the prawn roll (ngor hiang) noodles set and my friend had the spicy chicken. Both tasted quite good and were rather value for money, adding up to less than 10 bucks each.
Free flow of drinks made it a gd place for people who like to sit around and chat. However i didnt really like the ice cream cos it was too icey, rather than creamy to my liking. But oh wells, for the price we cant ask for much rite?
All in all, it's a rather good place to chill out :)
