I had walked past this new restaurant a few times while I was there. the first time I was about to walk in for dinner, they were closing alr. So too bad. This time whiel walking aimlessly in Orchard, thinking wat to eat, suddenly thought of it and decided to give t a try. Hee....
So the place was pretty packed when we were there. We were in the queue, waiting to be ushered to our seats while browsing the menu. The next thing I know the couple behind me was ushered in. Hmm.... I think the waitress should have asked us first since we are in the queue.
There are 4 tables, each able to seat 10 people. The decoration is simple but the plates and sauces plates that they are using are very nice, with plum flower prints. Very classy touch!
The menu is pretty simple. All in set meals of cos there are ala carte as well. We ordered a seafood set and a beef set. Since there are other customer seating at the table, the chef already started cooking their food, from the looks of it, it loks promising!
The seafood set comes with 3 prawns, 2 scallops, fore gais, duck meat, assorted mushroom, rice and miso soup.
The beef set comes with beef, chawmisu (the steam egg thing), assorted mushroom, rice and miso soup. Still got something that we did not managed to taste out what it is. Hee.... Oh yes, still got the garlic rice as well.
Overall, the food is good. The chef did not do anything amazing. no stunts while cooking. The food is cooked in rotation, mean the food does not come in at the same time.
I was amazed how the chawmisu (the steam egg thing) is being cooked. Using an onion layer as the bowl, the egg contents are placed inside and "steamed" on the hot plate. It is great!
A lot of garlic is used during the cooking and it does makes everything taste good. Of cos, for those who dun like garlic too bad.
Overall, it is a good place for some teppanyaki food. It will be fun if can get 10 ppl to seat together. It will be a lot of fun.
Sorry no pics for this post as got stangers seating at the same time. Hee.... Too pai seh to take pics.
We were looking for a place for coffee and decided to settle at Breeks. We sat at a corner table and was immediately given the menu. Our order came quite promptly. We didn't ask for ice water which we usually do, and I don't know why we didn't.
Anyway, the manager (i guess) saw that we didn't have any water, other than the coffee we ordered, she automatically served us warm water. Felt this was a nice gesture especially at cafe like Breeks. Some places don't even serve ice water. You've to pay 50cents for a mini bottled distilled water.
Great place to chill and rest. If you've no where to go over the weekends, I strongly recommend heading to Harbourfront. Especially with the $2/entry parking from 10am to 1am on Sat/Sun and PH!
Forget about the full-sized donuts! Marcial Kobe's mini ones are much more yummilicious!!
Happened to be at Central last week and decided to give these cute little donuts a try. Located at the corner of Central basement (where I usually get lost walking as it seems like a maze to me). There were about 10 flavors to choose from. Not sure if its on promo or the usual price, but I got 12 mini donuts at $4. Quite cheap lah!
These donuts are very crispy and are not too sweet. The size is just nice to pop into your mouth. But I had to bite them bit by bit to savor the different taste of each mini donuts. There were the sugared ones, caramelized ones, chocolate ones, and alot of others, which I can't recall! All are delicious lah! So go give it a try when you're around The Central ya!
Vivocity is one the biggest shapping mall in Spore. I will be there almost every weekend as well. Haa....
I feel that it is one of the best design shopping centre as well. When I was there for the first time, I have a feeling a being lost as the place is really big, even with the help of a map. However after a while, I get used to it and find it quite easy to move around as well.
They boast the biggest cinema in Spore, got a sky train to Sentosa, and they are next to St James, the biggest entertainment outlet.
They also managed to get a lot of big fashion brands like Gap, River Island, Tangs, etc.
Electronic shops like Samsung, Challenger, Best Denki and many more handphone shop.
Restaurants, from small cafes like Ben and Jerry, to the usual coffee joints like Starbucks and Coffee Bean etc, to the fast food, special ones like Super Dog, to all lot of food courts, Food Republic. Too many to list down here.
There is also a big wading pool on the roof top where good to see kids running in and out. There are also lots of grass patches to have a picnic maybe.
So there are tons of things to do there. Good way to spend a weekend, if you are sick of town shopping centres.
While waiting for my movie to start, decided to hang out out Ben and Jerry for some ice cream. I think this is one of the biggest outlet in Spore with a space for some bands to jam.
I am always a big fan of Ben and Jerry ice cream, especially Chucky Monkey! Hee....
The service of the place is pretty smooth. Nothing to wow on.
The main thing that I dun like was the band yesterday. I thought that I can have a good chat but it turns out that the band was too loud for any chit chat and the singing was not good. The singer was screaming at every word. Sigh..
So in the end we jz finished out ice cream fast and move out of that place fast! I think if their plan is to use the band to make the customer move out of the place fast, I think they had done it.
The ice cream 5 stars but overall experience at the outlet 2 stars.
After reading the above reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Couldn't find the place at first, but thanks to Lucardia, I managed to find it.
The concept of the ice-cream sticks ordering system is interesting, but if fact I feel that its quite inconvenient for the customers. Let's just say, we still pay 10% service charge but we do half the work for them, i.e. ordering. The sushi belt is right in the center of the place and you have to carry them back to your seats. The tray they provide is small. The most you can put is 4 plates at a go. Well, still consider alright since there aren't that many options to choose form.
99cents for a plate of sushi is cheap. But that's all they are. Cheap. The other dishes available looks normal. Ordered Fried Ebi and Fried Tofu. Tasted nice. But not fantastic.
One thing I don't like is the after-smell that's stuck with you event up till now. The spell that I call the "foodcourt smell". (That's one reason why I avoid eating at foodcourts.) So ya, I'll be avoiding this place too.
This incident happen to me over the weekend and have to say that I am very impressed with the staff over there.
I ordered a regular Black Forest and when I got it and drank it, I find the drink very diluted, seem like they forgot to add something in, I only have the coffee bitter after taste only, no taste of chocolate or whatever. Confirmed this with my galfren, who also find the drink under par.
So I mentioned this to the manager (I think), without any questions asked, he immediately offered to replace a new drink for me. The new drink was replaced to me within a min and it was prefect. Think they forgot to add in something in the 1st drink. Hee....
So based on this their customer service is really number one! I am really impressed!
Had dinner over there on Sat with a fren of mine. Was expecting a crowd as we went during dinner time but was surprised to see that it was almost empty with only a few tables occupied only. Maybe after Octoberfest, everyone need a rest.
We were led to a table and immediately I find the service very on the ball alr. Hee.... Within 5 mins after I was seated, I was asked 2 times by 2 different waiters for my order. Maybe too free, as there is no one else alr. Haa....
In the end we ordered a sauage platter, a pork knuckle and 2 x 0.5l light beer.
After ordering, the waiteress brought out some bread, in fact it is slices of different kind of bread with butter.
Food also came pretty fast, like after a 5 min wait.
1. Pork Knuckle, have to say that after tasting the pork knuckle @ Marche last weekend, I am a bit disappointed with this version. It is not as crispy as I expected to be, and it appeared to be smaller as well. However, it is still consider one of the better onces I have tasted. It also came with the usual side dishes as well.
2. The sausage platter came with 5 different types of sauage. All tasted good, the flavour is there and juicy as well. Haa... I like it a lot.
3. I also like their beer, like Brewerks, their beer does not have a bitter after taste.
Whenever I think of German food, I would go there to settle my craving and have to say that it is one of my fav drinking hole as well.
As The BIG MATCH is going on when we are having dinner, thje bar downstairs is packed with people and can hear their cheers going on as well. Haa...
I’ve been to Robertson Walk many times, but this was my first at the second level. With so many pubs and resturants on the ground floor, one might not discover what’s hidden at the upper floor. Sage, The Resturant is the product of the determination of husband and wife team Jusman So and Kimberly Chew. With Jusman cooking up delicious creation and Kimberly’s warm service, Sage is warm and welcoming.
We had a special dinner menu designed for us. It includes Scallops, Foie Gras, Cod & Bouillabaisse and Creme Brulee.
The scallop was fresh and well-packed. Its different from the ordinary one where the meat splits up when you cut into it. The squid ink capellini was something that I would want to try again. Cavier was alittle too saltish for my liking. The leek and potato vichyssoise was very yummy. Everyone was asking for more bread so that they can clean off the very last drop of it from their plate.
This was my second time having foie gras. As compared to the one I ate at My Humble House anniversary cocktail dinner, this was so much better. In fact, this was heavenly (and super sinful too!). The pistachio crust makes the entire experience different. Crispy exterior with moist and soft interior. However, after the entire piece, I could feel the fats wrapped around my entire heart! Yes! It was that sinful!
The Cod & Bouillabaisse was the best for the entire night! Cod was cooked to perfection. It melts immediately when it reaches your tongue. I could still remember the feeling and taste of the cod in my mouth as I typed this. The sauce complimented well with prawns and vegetables. The toast was again used to clear the plate. I would love to have this again, but sadly, its not on their menu. This was specially created just for our dinner that night.
The dessert was a sweet-sour-sorbet with not-so-well-received-jelly. I had just half of the serving and gave up. I’m not a sour sorbet fan, so I sure not comment much. However, the Lavender creme brulee and Navel orange meringue was nice. Although a little too sweet, but I finished them both eventually. The meringue tasted like hard and crispy candyfloss. The creme brulee was a great ending for the night.
Overall the dinner was nice and quite an experience for me. However, due to the setting and the many new faces around, I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as I hope to. The food was nice but not something which I would return for more, due to the price. (Total for 10 of us came up to $1022, incl. a bottle of New Zealand Red wine.)
Went there for lunch with my colleagues today. I had been to other outlets but some of my colleagues had not step in Pepper lunch before, therefore they are very interested to see how the whole thing works. Haa....
While waiting at the entrance, there is a big menu to choose from, all the different combos they have and at the same time there is a TV screening they way that you should "do" to your food when they arrive to ur table. Hee.... We were given our table number and order at the cashier while the waiter put the table number on our table.
So we ordered:
Combo Chicken and Steak with egg (Mine)
Combo Chicken and Lamd with egg
Chicken Pepper Rice with cheese
Curry Beef Pepper Rice
Mine came 1st so I can show what they can do with their food. All of them are quite excited of what they can do with their food. Haa.... Soon all of them arrived and they managed to cook their food before the heat dies off. Haa....
Adding the egg is quite interested as you can determine how you wanna ur egg to be like. Mine ended up scrambled egg. I like to add the Honey Brown sauce to my meat and the Garlic Soy sauce to my veges. Haa... The chicken is tender and juicy even though some of it are stuck to the hot plate, while the beef I managed to cook it to medium rare, which is also good.
One of my colleagues who had the lamb say that there is no "yang siao wei". The meat is very tender as well. Quite surprising as it seems that they did not do anything to the lamb at all. Haa....
Overall, my colleagues like the idea and their food. In fact they say they will come back to try some other dishes next time.
The service there is quite fast and good. From the cashier to the waitress who served us our food are prompt and polite.
One thing, I dun like is after the meal, tend to smell like the food. Haa... Well there is nothing they can do about this as well.
Total bill came up ot be $50, whihc is considered decent. Seem like we will be back to try other of their dishes sooner than expected.
