Apart from it being a golf club, like many country clubs, this place has many other facilities, ie swimming pools, karaoke lounge, restaurants. I like the environment there. It gives people a very comfortable feeling, and feels like they can do as they wish around the place. I like the toilets too. The one near the swimming pool is clean and has lockers for people to keep their belongings. The one for golfers is much bigger and feels really exclusive and grand! It actually does make people not want to leave the place.

However, I still feel that the place is lacking many things, unlike other country clubs. This place does not have enough entertainment places. The karaoke lounge is open to many, with a pool table in there. It is not surprising that many people would want to go there, however the place does not restrict people from smoking and many businessmen go there with women of seemingly dubious backgrounds. This spoils the whole image of the club as being an exclusive place. Apart from that, the new management scrapped the whole arcade there. When I used to frequent the arcade, I would normally see many children there, playing the games while waiting for their parents. Now that these games are gone, children there have almost nothing to do.

    *CORRECTION*
I've just been to Laguna recently and realized that the lounge is no longer like what I mentioned above. There are stricter regulations now, which makes the place look much better.

Edited version of review (22nd March 08):

The good thing about hawker centres, in general, is that they offer us a variety of food. We're spoilt for choice half the time.

The good thing about this hawker centre is that they offer us a variety of GOOD food. We're totally spoilt for choice all the time.

      Recommended:
      1) Fishball noodles (2nd row from the bakeries):
They've received rather good reviews from channel u too, though I don't know when was it. Famous for their fishballs, which are served in pretty general portions. Like 5 in the soup, for every bowl of noodles ordered.

      2) Duck rice:
I really like duck rice but seldom find a place with good gravy/ chilli that goes with the rice. But I think this place is not bad!

      3) Roti Prata:
I like their prata, but their curry's a little diluted. Other than that, it tastes quite fine. The prata's a little small though, thus leading me to think that they're a little more pricey!

      4) Dessert stall:
Well they are the only dessert stall there... Their cheng teng's not bad!

      5) Wong's porridge:
They open real early for breakfast. They've got good porridge. Really fine and tasty. Other than that, they sell western food too, with available lunch set meals for students. Very good deal!

Some others that I've never tried but heard were good...
      - hill street char kway teow
      - prawn noodles

Fei fei wanton noodle's supposed to be pretty good, but I don't think it's very good after trying it twice (yes once wasn't enough, I had to try it again and realize I still don't like it). But they have really nice fried wanton!

I'm sure there's more good stuff which I haven't quite explored. But with such a long list above, I think it spells a lot ;)

For drinks like grass jelly/ lime juice/ barley/ soya bean, try the drinks stall near the fishball noodles and duck rice stall. I think theirs are, somehow, more tasty!

People who happen to pass by, this place is really worth a go! (:

From the above comments, it seems like the campaign is pretty effective. I do agree that the government should not hide the ugly images from the public, just because it may frighten some people. Facts are facts, potential smokers (unfortunately they are the younger generation) need to be frightened.

However, I do wonder if those campaign pictures used are real or not. I personally feel that it would be quite a sensitive issue for a sufferer to be approached and asked to be photographed and publicized. I have my doubts about the sources of these pictures, and actually did hear that they are not real. Hmm.. I wonder how true is it..?

This place is not bad, but I won't say it really lives up to it's name. It's not exactly a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. Yes it does have a slight vietnamese flavour, but the dishes available are rather similar to those you can get at Chinese restaurants.

But one good thing about this place would be that you get to eat chinese-vietnamese food altogether! And the food there is pretty affordable for the air-conditioned and quiet environment you get there. Food is served very quickly, good for people who doesn't like to wait long for their food.

I used to think that NYDC had really amazing food, from the impression I had from the exciting names they came up with for their dishes. I went there once. The place was nicely decorated, just as how similar cafes like Cafe Cartel and Breeks! are like. But it wasn't exactly a very fantastic experience. Maybe it's because of the over-exciting name of their dishes, when the food was served, it didn't seem as exciting after all.

I must say that the service at NYDC is fine, and the quality of their food is above average. But I feel that it does not give you the "wow" feeling. And for some dishes, you probably can find almost the same thing at a cheaper price elsewhere.
