I’ve been to Robertson Walk many times, but this was my first at the second level. With so many pubs and resturants on the ground floor, one might not discover what’s hidden at the upper floor. Sage, The Resturant is the product of the determination of husband and wife team Jusman So and Kimberly Chew. With Jusman cooking up delicious creation and Kimberly’s warm service, Sage is warm and welcoming.

We had a special dinner menu designed for us. It includes Scallops, Foie Gras, Cod & Bouillabaisse and Creme Brulee.

The scallop was fresh and well-packed. Its different from the ordinary one where the meat splits up when you cut into it. The squid ink capellini was something that I would want to try again. Cavier was alittle too saltish for my liking. The leek and potato vichyssoise was very yummy. Everyone was asking for more bread so that they can clean off the very last drop of it from their plate.

This was my second time having foie gras. As compared to the one I ate at My Humble House anniversary cocktail dinner, this was so much better. In fact, this was heavenly (and super sinful too!). The pistachio crust makes the entire experience different. Crispy exterior with moist and soft interior. However, after the entire piece, I could feel the fats wrapped around my entire heart! Yes! It was that sinful!

The Cod & Bouillabaisse was the best for the entire night! Cod was cooked to perfection. It melts immediately when it reaches your tongue. I could still remember the feeling and taste of the cod in my mouth as I typed this. The sauce complimented well with prawns and vegetables. The toast was again used to clear the plate. I would love to have this again, but sadly, its not on their menu. This was specially created just for our dinner that night.

The dessert was a sweet-sour-sorbet with not-so-well-received-jelly. I had just half of the serving and gave up. I’m not a sour sorbet fan, so I sure not comment much. However, the Lavender creme brulee and Navel orange meringue was nice. Although a little too sweet, but I finished them both eventually. The meringue tasted like hard and crispy candyfloss. The creme brulee was a great ending for the night.

Overall the dinner was nice and quite an experience for me. However, due to the setting and the many new faces around, I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as I hope to. The food was nice but not something which I would return for more, due to the price. (Total for 10 of us came up to $1022, incl. a bottle of New Zealand Red wine.)

For those who have lived in Siglap long enough you would know that this is the old family-run cake shop next to old Siglap Market (which is now NTUC). It boasts of award winning cakes, namely their Chocolate Truffle Cake and Tiramisu.

They closed at their original location months ago, to reopen as a cafe in the basement of Siglap Centre. It now has a small seating area for 6-7 patrons and is tastefully designed with a chic modern look.

I bought a 500g Chocolate Truffle Cake off the shelf for $20. The price has increased and I'm not surprised. However the quality has dropped. The cake does not have that strong chocolate taste it used to have. It's now a lot of cake and less chocolate. It's still fine just not award winning anymore.

I also bought a few chocolate chip cookies and regretted it. The cookies are just flat pieces of plain sugar. It took me, a junk foodie, a long time to finish it. And they weren't cheap at $2.50 each.

This particular outlet is situated in the bustling Parkway Parade. It's relatively new, since it opened a few months after the major revamp. It's in the basement right next to the food court. Not a cosy ambience with all the noise and bright lights from the surroundings. It has a very casual atmosphere though, which makes it good for family outings and friends.

    We ordered the following...

Black Olive Fried Rice with Chickens and Cashew Nuts
The rice was fragrant and was tasty on its own. However for a one-dish meal it didn't have enough ingredients. There were only a few measly pieces of chicken. The rice was not cooked with the cashew nuts as the nuts was served on the side. It certainly didn't justify its price of $9... It was also really oily, leaving oil marks all over the plate when I was done.

    Pineapple Fried Rice with Seafood
The picture on their website/menu and the one we saw were worlds apart. There wasn't any pineapple in the dish, so it's highly likely they used powder mixtures which can be bought cheap from supermarkets. There was only 1 prawn and 2 sotongs in the whole thing... which kinda made treasure hunting for them a challenge.

The service was not as good as I had expected. We were the only ones there at first on a weekday afternoon. Later on another table became occupied. Yet they took pretty long 20min to serve us and 10min to bring us the bill. Slow service despite few patrons is a bad thing. No smiles could be seen anywhere too.

The only thing that interested me was the ala carte buffet which had quite a variety of dishes. We watched the neighbouring table order and it came in nice small dishes which made ordering a variety easy. But judging from the quality we had, I seriously doubt we would be back for more.

Step into Eden Cafe, and its homeliness is the first thing that hits you. Friendliness is next, as Clement and his team greeted us with their warm smile and polite gestures. Service like this is getting hard to come by on our little island! The cosiness of the cafe makes it the perfect place for a quiet evening dinner.

I'm a fish lover, but only if they have no fishy stink and no fish bones. So, Clement recommended me their Ginger Leak Snowfish, which is a made-to-order dish. I was swept off my feet! It has zero fishy stink and fish bones. Unlike regular fishes, the snowfish does not split into bits as you cut it. And most importantly, it tastes really good! It is covered in a special sauce which has peanuts in it for that nice crunchy bite.

My friend tried their famous Black Sesame Mushroom Pasta. The pasta is home-made and is dark in colour. As Clement said, this dish is pretty subjective. Some people might love it, while some might really hate it. I guess I belong to the latter, while my friend belongs to the former, as she loves black sesame. Being one of Eden Cafe's famous dishes, I'm sure there are more people who love it than otherwise. A truly unique dish that you can't find anywhere else!

Finally, we had their Lily Citron Jello. It is a jelly kind of dessert that is stuffed with grapes and topped with fresh yogurt and yummy strawberries. It is as healthy as how good it tastes!

Eden Cafe also serves many kinds of floral teas and floral cuisine. All very healthy food that I want to try one day.

Eden Cafe is definitely a 5-star. I'm already salivating right now over the thought of the Ginger Leak Snowfish!

Health and wholesome goodness comes naturally at Eden...

Was welcomed by the homely and comfortable cafe with smile and greetings from Clement and his staff. Situated up a little slope of Club Street, Eden Cafe is a place where one would love to enter for a smoothing and chilled glass of wine tea to beat those heat from the blazing sun. The cafe feels so homely, I can stay there for an entire day. Great for those who love a quiet place to chill and relax, away from the bustling madness happening just nearby, with some good tea or wine.

As a seafood lover, especially for calamari, I just had to try their Mussel Calamari Dunker ($12.90) served with crispy wholegrain bread. Although the base seems thick, and together with the wholegrain bread seem like a filling meal. But it was just the right amount of everything that filled my tummy but still left room for more. The calamaris and mussels were so fresh, I could taste their original taste even with the specially created base which was made up of seven different vegetables. Including celery, which I hate! But it was so well blended that I licked the bowl clean. (Ok I didn't literally licked the bowl.)

With room for more, I tried their homemade Rosepetal Brownie ($5.90). Yap! There's real rosepetals in the brownie and also on it! My very first attempt at consuming flowers and it was quite an interesting taste. The rosepetals blended well with the sweetness from the chocolate brownie and vanilla ice-cream. The rose petal reduces the sweetness with its light bitterness. And as the brownies has no additional sugar added, you won't get "sick" of eating it, although the piece was quite huge. Surely going to order this again when I'm back (i.e. after I tried the other sinful goodness at Eden).

The next must try is Eden's fusion tea ($9.00). There's so many choices to choose from. When you can't decide, just tell Clement how you feel that day and let him decide for you! Served in specially designed tea sets, you can see the beautiful colors of the floral tea and the nice golden color of the tea. The teacups are cleverly crafted, with the double layer design, you can hold the teacup without feeling the heat from the tea.

With yummy and healthy food, great atmosphere and friendly service, its no doubt that I'm going to recommend all my friends and family to Eden Cafe.

If you can't decide what to eat, just let Clement decide for you.

Have to compliment this guy's friendly and welcoming service. Although I guess he did scare/ gave fright to some of the ladies shopping at Watsons.

Not sure if he's one of the managers but he was wearing a jacket and was well groomed. He went around with basket for shoppers and very politely offered the basket for the shoppers. But I did notice he kinda frightened couple of the ladies who were paying too much attention to the labels on the packaging.

Still a pleasant shock I guess.

My partner commented that they're probably training up for the upcoming F1 race or IR since Singapore is all about providing excellence services for everyone. Hope the service standards will keep improving in Singapore.

Took the First Class Coach to KL and the best part about it is that it is a 16 seater....so no small kids running up and down the bus and crying or causing any disturbance. The entire journey was pleasant and smooth. Highlights?

10" personal LCD screen Total trip to KL about 4-5 hours, so can watch about 2 movies.

Meals on board One meal (Standard or vegetarian) on board served to your seat by the inflight, oops, or inbus attendant.

Attentive service Inbus attendant, dressed like an air-stewardess or land-stewardess, politely asks if you would like tea, coffee or soft drinks. Even blanket provided if you do decide to take a snooze

Massage Chair Get yourself a back massage while watching a movie. Should not all cinemas have this!!!

One trip ticket cost about $58 to KL. Definitely a must for the business traveller who decides not to take a plane. Several of them were with their notebooks turned on throughout the flight...oops...again...the coach ride.

A rather small WWII museum but nonetheless unique in its contents. Some of the interesting highlights are the drawings of Mr William Haxworth. Not a painter by profession but his drawings (done in secret) portray the day to day life of POWs interned at Changi and Sime Road.

Just wonder how people can remain in their sanity while being enclosed in camps with horrible conditions. One of the ways the POWs do that is to inject humour in their confinement and peril. Some of the exhibits portray the lighter side of internship in Changi and you just marvel at their ingenuity and positiveness in one of life's darkest moments. How would the modern generation fare if they were to be thrown into the same mire and deep pit that these POWs had to go through. Sometimes the unassuming might just rise to the occasion and prove to be the most courageous of the lot. History has accounts of many people who experienced that.

To think further, these POWs were once colonial masters who spent their time drinking tea and playing cricket in the Posh surroundings of Raffles Hotel and the Singapore Cricket club and had to face the deplorable conditions of Changi the very next minute. Sometimes, infact many times, life can take the turn for the worst and the images injected at the MOFF museum illustrates that to the perfect degree.

Another highlight of the MOFF is the room where the British surrender took place. The room where all hope was lost was rather bleak and small. The table and chairs (not sure if it was the original that Yamashita and Percival sat on) retains its gloomy appearance. Very much the mood exhuberated on that fateful day. Staring for a few minutes into the room, you can feel the atmosphere of being here in 1942 when it all happened.

Interestingly, the Ford factory ceased operations after 1942 and became a factory producing Nissan military vehicles and other vehicles for the occupying forces.

What remains of the Ford factory today is just 1/10 of the original factory. Only the front portion remains, the back is now occupied by a residential condominium. Imagine living on the grounds of the historical building. Sometimes it might bring a chill down your spine.

We reached there at 4:30pm and closing time was 5:30pm. One hour was not enough to read the experiences, listen to the stories and view the well preserved documents. We left the place with a surreal feeling, wondering if all that was done in the past is forgotten by people today. Sadly, most of it is forgotten.

Anyway the staff manning the museum was kind enough to tell us that we could come back another time for free if we wanted to since we had only been able to spend a short time there. How thoughtful!

I am allergic to raw fish, so I always hesitated to eat Fish & Chips which is my Dear’s Favourite. I afraid that the batter is too thick until the fish is not well done. So…. Fish & Co will not be on my dinning list, but I decided to eat there on last Friday because I was starving (as usual)..

I ordered the safer item - Wild Mushroom Carbonara Spaghetti. It was good. The sauce was thick and creamy.

The Soup of the day, Clam Chowder, is So-so only. Not flavourful enough. But there were a lot of ingredients. I felt like I was eating a Salad more than drinking a soup. ;p

My Dear ordered the Philadelphia Fish & Chips. I dun like the Fish. My Dear finds it ok only. :p

My nightmare is the Squid with Paprika. The servings was too big for my own consumption. My Dear dun eat Ika. :( So I got to “enjoy” it all by myself. After a few pieces, I fell like puking. The squid was too soft, and the taste was a bit salty. Coming to think of it now, I still feel like puking. I think I will not touch Ika for quite some time.

The items that we ordered were exclusive at the Paragon Branch. You can’t find them listed on their webby.

They gave us a mint after the meal. Maybe to prevent us from puking after they saw the leftover of the squid. :p Haaaaaa…..

Besides the food, I find that their service is good. They are prompt even though dinner crowd heavy.

Glasil is a relatively new store managed by a lady who makes the items herself. I had the honour of watching her in action whilst I was in the store.

The display of the store is amazing. She has bracelets and earrings all over. But most of the items are quite simple and not very complicated. The materials are less common but not the design itself. The finished products are priced about $5 to $100 for those with precious stones.

The materials she sells for DIY are in small quantities and there isn't much variety. She has mainly glass and czech crystal stuff so they are all quite pricey. Even plastic items are not cheap either. It's for the casual maker making for herself really. As for findings and wires there's also very little to choose from.

At the back of the store she sells some bags which are quite interesting. The material may not be good but they are quite cheap.

The owner herself is quite knowledgeable about the materials she sells but her staff isn't. They had to consult her many times on what the material is and where are certain items placed.
