24 Nov 2014 (Mon) Raining afternoon, heavy rain and howling wind and i popped over The Quarters with my friend Robert.
Robert and i were searching the place as if we were blind. We spend like fifteen minutes looking for it. I can tell that Robert is such a patient guy, i was already going to give up after encircling the icon village. Totally enjoy the filming interview with Robert and i do not need to worry on direction after i told him my blog will only have three key points (inspiration, best dish and note).
Here’s a direction guide..
After Tanjong Pagar Mrt exit A, turn left and walk 2 minutes, you will see Icon Village (the building name) from the zebra crossing. When you walk in, turn left to the new extension area.
The place looked like a cut out from a movie and we tried a few interesting selections on the menu.
1) Durian Creme Brulee
2) Refreshing drink callled Quarternade, if you like a kick of sour taste from the Lemon. Ingredients: Dill, Mint, Lemon, Love
Dill, mint, lemon i know, Love? DeMing (Founder) shared with me an element of love is needed to make the Quarterade.
3) Fries with Salted Egg Mayo Dip - The Quarters created the salted egg fries where salted eggs were used to create the mayonnaise and eyoli. Indeed highlighting the multi-cultural diversity since the founding of Singapore till today where Singaporeans have influences from the different ethnic quarters of Singapore.
The Quarters is about celebrating Singapore’s cuisine from a modern perspective.
1 Dec 2014 (Mon) Went over for coffee time at Geek Cafe and spoke to Mr Alex Tan, one of the two founders.
Mr Alex has an engineer background with 13 years of IT retail experience, he has always wanted to open a tech cafe with community involvement like ten years ago but did not dare to take the risk until few years ago he met his co-founder Jermaine Jeremiah and started preparation.
A decade of dream incubation. Clap Clap. I wonder how many of us can incubate and persevere a dream for ten years.
Alex exuberant passion while sharing more on his business.
(a) repair training classes- mainly for Apple products: (how to revive water damaged iphone) and (how to open the iphone cover and change the battery, battery included training from $39 onwards.)
(b) coffee training classes – certified by SCAE: (how to appreciate coffee), (coffee cupping) and (barista)
(c) blue box audio
We had a couple of cakes and coffees, Cheesecakes are from Cat & The Fiddle, an online cake shop that offers premium cheesecakes in twelve original flavours created by Singapore’s award wining Dessert Chef Daniel Tay.
-Snowy Xmas cake: Gingerbread base with Brandy Cherries.
29 Aug 2014 (Fri) The FIRST day of opening, i was glad that i came to visit The Milky Way. Mr Renfred Ng the founder of The Milky Way was in the shop.
Renfred participated in Singapore’s first Campus Superstar《校园SuperStar》. I posted my visit on Facebook and my friends were surprised that the teen they remembered has grown into a man.
I always have the passion for F&B and I love to do coffee, therefore I chose to do an ice cream and coffee cafe. #INSPIRATION
I’m not a fan girl but i must say a man serious with his coffee is charming.
I ordered a freshly made waffle with a huge ball of exquisite pistachio ice-cream and another with chocolate chip ice cream. Both the ice cream flavors taste really good and the waffle is crunchy. It was my first time trying Pistachio and i would definitely go back.
26 August 2014 (Tues) My 28th birthday evening was spent together with my friends in Stuttgart Blackforest S-Café Express (;
I feel like i’m on a movie set, the place, originally the office of Lighting shop Verge Light was established in 2011 between two business partners Mr Alan and Ms Siew Khim.
The place is elaborately designed, similarly, perhaps even better looking than the other Stuttgart Blackforest S-Cafe in middle road. While we are stunned by the ground floor, we were more amazed when we got to the second floor. Decorated with many intricate furniture with fine details, I can't help but had to take many pictures.
Great place to rest and relax with friends and I even spotted a Dumbwaiter, no more carrying drinks on my wobbly hands up the stairs. More pictures at RinaLovesLife.com
The mushroom cafe is located at MacRitchie Reservoir, it is on the right side after the washrooms. I was surprised to know that it exist since 2010! It opens Mon - Sun: 7:00 am - 9:00 pm
Bright and well ventilated by the huge ceiling fans, the mushroom cafe offers a wide range of local delights. It is also well priced, streams of joggers, cyclists and families will patron this cafe.
I would say the food is affordable and tasty. I tried both the ice cream waffle and the fried chicken wings! Perhaps i was too hungry? There is a saying that when you are hungry, the food will be tasty. Mmm...
Will be back for more the next time i cycle around the area!
