Dropped by Old Town White Coffee one Saturday evening as my aunt wanted to try out their white coffee. We heard that this is a very well-known established brand in Malaysia, comparable to Singapore's Ya Kun!
As expected, we were greeted by a Saturday evening crowd.. with kids running around and people who had just finished their beach activities at East Coast Park.
We went in to the shop and there was no sign telling us to wait to be served to our seats so we thought it was self-service and we could choose any seats we wanted. As the cafe was full house, me, my sis and my Grandma waited at 3 different tables for the customers to finish.
A waitress then came to ask if we were waiting for seats and told us to wait at the entrance. After ten minutes, we were finally given a seat meant for 4 persons when we had 5. The space between each table was so cramp! However, we later changed to a longer 6-seater sofa seat which was more comfortable and suitable for us to dine in.
We ordered these items: - 2 Nanyang Kopi-O - 1 Iced Chocolate - 1 Iced Blended Milk Tea - 2 sets of Nasi Rendang Chicken - 1 Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun - 1 French Toast - 1 Kaya Butter Toast - 1 Garlic Toat - 1 Peanut Butter Thick Toast
ruffnooka is right about them not having many items on their menu available for customers.
My aunt & mother at first wanted their famous White Coffee but the waitress informed us that all White Coffee drinks are sold out! They had to change their orders.
And 2 of our toasts ordered initially also had to be changed to other items. The manager even had to come to our table and cancel all those items that were not available!
The food soon came and the Nasi Rendang Chicken was really good! The rendang and chilli, I believe they handmade themselves. The Ipoh Hor Fun was quite little but the soup was very tasty and those who can take spicy stuff, add in the red chopped chilli!
My aunt complimented them on their toasts cos they were made on the spot and the kaya was fresh! Their bread were toasted to perfection too.
We spent a total of $50 for this meal and I think it is quite reasonable but my Grandma thinks otherwise! She feels that cofee & bread should not cost that expensive.
But I would recommend this place to others because the food served is special and the taste does not lose to restaurants!
Yes.. Threadless tees are the most awesome tees your wardrobe can ever contain. Haha!
Firstly, the designs are all original and submitted by designers all over the world. Some are quirky, some are humourous. Some are design images, some are slogans.
Personally, I prefer slogan tees because it's so cool how a simple slogan can attract a person's attention to your shirt! Haha.. so far, I have only purchased 3 tees from Threadless but I assure you, I will continue to do so for as long as Threadless is alive.
By signing up as a Threadless member, you can not only submit your own tee shirt design and slogan, but you can also earn cash and store credit if your design is being chosen!
As for people like me who don't posses a talent for designing, you can choose to score other people's designs.
The best thing about Threadless is that unlike many American online stores, they ship internationally! Which means I do not have to go through VPost or Comgateway to order. You only need a Credit Card and you are ready to purchase your favourite Threadless tees.
Oh, another thing is - do wait for their sales! They usually have sales about 3-4 times a year when it's back to school for the students in USA and all tees are sold for only USD10! Which means it come up to around S$16-17 for each tee including shipping.
I highly recommend this online store to everyone because it offers cool tees/hoodies for men, women, kids and even babies! Now you can convert your whole family into Threadless addicts!
My friends and I headed for Vivo City on a Monday afternoon and we reached the mall at about 2 pm. We were famished! So we walked around, hunting for the most worth-it set lunch we could find. As we are students on budget, of course.. prices below $15 would be ideal! As almost all restaurants end their lunchtime set meal at 2pm, we were left with not much choices.
Ah-ha! At last, we chanced upon Kim Gary HK cafe! The menu looks surprisingly wide in variety and best of all the prices were within our budget so we immediately decided on this!
We were ushered to our sofa seat where we got a good view of the sea and the place was not crowded thus it was spacious and comfortable. The waiters were polite and patient when explaining the dishes to us.
What we ordered: - Iced Milk Tea - Iced Yuan Yang - Iced Honey Lemon Drink - French Toast - Garlic Pork Chop w/ Spaghetti - Black Pepper Pork Chop w/ Spaghetti - Preserved Veggie with Fish Noodles Soup
The drinks came first and I was super refreshed with my Honey Lemon drink! It was blended together well and it tasted not too sweet like any other soft drinks. I love this!
My main dish was the Garlic Pork Chop with Spaghetti and sad to say, the spaghetti was undercooked! Me & my friend both commented that the spaghetti was a tad too hard for our liking. The pork chop was alright, for mine, the Garlic sauce was very fragrant and tasted good with the pork chop.
After our main dish, I realised that my French Toast have not come! I told the lady waitress about it and she was very polite and checked for me. I realised that Kim Gary hires many middle-age ladies and they are very kind & polite!
Soon, my french toast came... AND IT WAS SO YUMMY! I totally love this, in between the butter-soaked french toast was a generous helping of peanut butter! This is my favourite dish of the day.
I will go back to Kim Gary for the Unagi stone grill rice! Their stone grill rice is their newest addtion to the menu.
I would recommend this cafe for all budget customers!
I first came to know about this quaint little cupcake shop through two of my friends' blog. They shared photos of this cupcake shop and raved about how beautiful the cupcakes were.
So, I went there the other day when I was out with my girlfriends! When I first step in, the PINK walls attracted me. Along with the pink walls, there were silver sofa princess-like cushion seats! The walls were also filled with black and white Audrey Hepburn photos in photo frames. I love the decor!
My friends & I ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea to share, and 3 types of cakes. We had a strawberry cheesecake, a double chocolate cupcake and a mango cupcake.
There were no other customers other than us when we were there so the service was really good. The waiter was very meticulous in serving us and even offered to help us take a picture when we were camwhoring away, haha!
The Earl Grey tea was nicely brewed and we had 2 cups each so it was actually a good choice to order a pot to share among the 3 of us.
The cheesecake was really good, it was thick and there was a hint of strawberry too. The cupcakes were so-so but their pretty decorations were too hard to resist!
In total, we spent about $6-7/person as the cupcakes were $3.50 for one if I remember correctly.
This is such a heaven for girls who love to take photos! The cupcakes itself aren't that good to rave about but I would say there's no harm going there to have a cuppa afternoon tea and a piece of cake with your friends.
Just went to try it out, took me quite some time to find the place as it is located at the end of yishun. It was not bad overall, I also find the chicken wings nice, but not really the best i guess. I like the size of the nasi lemak also, was good enough to fill my stomach as I normally eat alot lol.
Great place if you are looking for video games. If you are short on cash, there is also games which are second hand and are selling at a much cheaper prices. The staff there are very professional and they really help me out whenever I need to look a particular game.
GameScore has a various collection of console and video games. Eventhough the shop is mainly for console games, there are also PC games too, but don't expect to have the title that you want as the variety isn't that much as compare to a normal PC shop.
Finally got a chance to have a meal at TM's Din Tai Fung! Went there on a weekday evening with a friend. No long queue surprisingly, we got shown to our seat after about 5 minutes of waiting.
As we had late lunch, we ordered only 3 items to share! We ordered the Xiao Long Baos (a must at DTF!), a plate of Fried Rice with Pork Chop and their Dou Sha (Red Bean Paste) Bao.
The XLBs were reall tasty when eaten with vinegar and ginger. No wonder they are the signature dish of DTF all over the world!
The fried rice was nicely fried till every grain was oily and shiny. Really good. The pork chop was so-so, didn't had much taste and was abit tough.
The red bean paste bao was nice! The paste was genorously given and the bao was really soft.
Overall, this meal was a very pleasant experience. The furnish of the restaurant is very traditional chinese and the service crew were all very polite and friendly.
Paid a little less than $30 for the meal for 2 pax. A little on the expensive side but I wouldn't mind going back to try their other dishes again!
My mom loves international buffet because she can get a taste of every country's cuisine! So yesterday we went to Safra Tampines to have our lunch at Sakura.
It's been almost a year since I last came to Sakura and in my heart I really hoped they would have new dishes or better quality dishes at the buffet table.
Ok, first complain - We had to pay before we get in the restaurant to start our buffet and the cashier was so inefficient! My mom took at least 15 minutes to settle the bill.
The food spread looked the same as the last time I went there but however it does not fail to make me drool. A wide spread I must say but quality wise, it's only average considering the price we pay.
I started my first round with Japanese food, normal sushi and salmon sashimi MY FAVOURITE! It was fresh and thick and taste really good with wasabi, no complains!
Up next, I went to order some teppanyaki and satay.. the dory fish was really nice! It's grilled on the spot after you place your order and they pour this special barbeque sauce on it, I like!
There's also unagi, beef steak and lamb chops over at the teppanyaki section. However, there was only about 5 clips on the table so the amount you can order is quite restricted!
The pizza section was tucked away in a hidden corner, I was so happy when I saw it! However, it was such a huge disappointment. The pizza base tasted so flour-ish and the toppings were lousy! Worst pizza I've ever had in my life. I only ate one mouth of it.
The fried stuff section was good, there were tempura, takoyaki, chicken wings, sotong balls etc. Great for fried food junkies like my sis, she had a whole plate of it! Haha!
There was also a huge spread of chinese cooked food, a few choices of dim sum including siew mai and har gow. The salad bar also had appetisers like baby octopus and kimchi!
They even had baked scallops with cheese, I love it!
Desserts were really meagle in variety compared to the main dishes. The cakes were cut so small I had to take a few pieces at a time. =X And the cakes didn't taste quite good.
Drinks were free flow and had everything ranging from hot coffee and milo to cold beverages like coke and green tea.
Overall, it's a nice meal but if you're a person who goes for quality, this is not your place! People on a budget, this is for you! :) Safra card members get 10% off.
After reading the review on http://ieatishootipost.blogspot.com , I finally made a trip down to e.Blackboard last night for a taste of their famous Cajun Chicken!
I ordered the Cajun Chicken, my sis had the Fish & Chips and my aunt ordered the Unagi Aglio Olio, their new fusion dish.
First that came was the pasta, the aglio olio was abit too oily for my liking, it was soaked in olive oil! The unagi was one whole big piece that took up half the plate space, very generous I would say.
The unagi tasted really special with the pasta. I would wanna try this dish on my next visit! It tasted so special, I've never tasted anything like that before. Who would have though unagi goes so well with spaghetti?!
The fish & chips looked exactly like Fish & Co's except their serving was a little smaller. The tartare sauce was very good for a tartare sauce lover like me! They used dory fish and it was fresh and smooth.
My cajun chicken was a big disappointment though! I couldn't taste the seasoning of the chicken. It tasted so bland and the mozarella cheese that was melted on top of the chicken didn't add flavour to it either!
I was disappointed with my choice of dish! Had the cream brulee for dessert was it was soooo sweet. I saw a few customers having their pasta and they looked really yummy.
I am determined to try their pastas on my next visit!
