My sister yesterday brought back 6 donuts from donut factory. The queue at both outlets alwasy puts me off so I dun even bother to queue for it. After all, I have tasted Krispy Kreme and thinks that nothing can beats that.
Since she did not buy my fav which is apple cinemmon, I ate a blue berry one instead. Well it turn out to be good compared to others that I have eaten in Singapore less Krispy kreme of course. I put it in the toaster for a few mins to warm it up. It turned out to be soft and fluffy the way I like it, the topping , like, others, found it too be a little too sweet.
My mum ate the one with almond flakes and she became a fan of it. Asking me to buy more of it the next time round.
Update (2 Nov 07):
I decided to queue for donuts for my very first time last thursday @ Suntec City. Guess what? There is no queue and I managed to get my donuts in 5 mins flat. Haa... I bought 2 dozens in record time I think. Haa.....
Well I still stand by Krispy Kreme still remians 1st in my heart while Donut Factory is a near second. Still I dun think queueing a few hours for the donuts is worth it!
I was there last friday to attend a wedding. The hotel was a classy, small and unique. It was hidden away in a corner yet near to town.
The wedding took place in their 4th level resturant, and it was a buffet. The service there was good. The service crew actually took a lot of effort to do up the whole place to make it look romantic.
The buffet was good with a wide variety of food and all tasting very good as well.
The room that they have was quite cosy and well decorated as well. As it was a suite, the living room and the bed room was seprated by a wall. The toilet is seperated by frosted glass sos you can see a shadow of the person in the toilet as well.
They got a special design swimming pool as well at the top of the building where it is protuding part and it feels like siwmming in the open air.
Overall It is a small cosy hotel that can spent the weekend. It is within walking distant fromt he main clubbing streets and places like zouk, clarke quay etc.
Long time had not eaten at NYDC so yesterday popped in to have a meal.
Since I was in before 5pm, decided to go for their set lunch.
Main course Coffee / Tea / Soft Drinks Soup of the day.
It is only additional $5 on top of the main course's price. If you decided to have cake of the date, you jz need to pay additional $7.5 on top of the main course's price. Main course can be their salads, baked rice or pasta, or pizzas.
So I order my fav Farmboy Salad! Be warned that the serving is big enough for a main course and plus it is healthy too. Haa... Tons of lettuce, almond flaks, cucumber, chicken shreds, and big pcs if toasted garlic bread. The combination together with Thousand Island (3 dressings to choose from) was heavenly! It is a must try!
Their soup of the day was cream of mushroom. It was think and creamy with big slices of button mushroom in the soup. Good.
Got myself an ice lemon tea. They brewed the tea then served with syrup. So you can do your own mix and match.
Of course one BIG thing @ NYDC is to have their mudpie! I have tasted all of their mudpies and have to say that my fav is the cookie monster. Like the chucky cookies inside the ice cream with a think oreao crust base. Jz loved it. It is one of my happy food, food that will make me happy when I am feeling sad.
The service there was on the spot and fast. Food was served fast and the waitress are pro when taking orders as well.
Glasil is a relatively new store managed by a lady who makes the items herself. I had the honour of watching her in action whilst I was in the store.
The display of the store is amazing. She has bracelets and earrings all over. But most of the items are quite simple and not very complicated. The materials are less common but not the design itself. The finished products are priced about $5 to $100 for those with precious stones.
The materials she sells for DIY are in small quantities and there isn't much variety. She has mainly glass and czech crystal stuff so they are all quite pricey. Even plastic items are not cheap either. It's for the casual maker making for herself really. As for findings and wires there's also very little to choose from.
At the back of the store she sells some bags which are quite interesting. The material may not be good but they are quite cheap.
The owner herself is quite knowledgeable about the materials she sells but her staff isn't. They had to consult her many times on what the material is and where are certain items placed.
After reading all the above great reviews for UNO, I decided to try it out. Not quite sure where Blk 51 is, we ended up driving a big round around Toa Payoh central. But when we saw the bright orange lightbox sign welcoming us at the carpark entrance, we knew great steak is just nearby.
Going back to TPY brought back many wonderful memories to me, I used to stay at TPY. Looking at the blocks around me, I felt as if I was brought back 15 years. The old and retro looking blocks with the elderly ah gong and ah ma sitting near the door looking out to whatever that comes into their sight. Feel so much like I was back to my childhood days.
UNO beef house was not packed yet when we arrived. We ordered the Black Pepper Rib Eye ($9) and Fish and Chips ($5). Both came in less than 10 mins. And both looks equally delicious.
Had a medium-rare steak and it was cooked just right. It's pretty cheap considering that the size of the steak was pretty big. But I had a better one the day before. (IMO)
The one that I thought was fantastic is the Fish & Chips. When eaten hot, its very crispy outside and soft inside. The batter used is different from the usual fish & chips you find at the usual hawkers. It was so good I had to pack one home for Mum to try. But due to jam, the fish was cold when mum had it. Not too nice anymore. But still, I'll sure go back for more of their fish & chips.
Go by 7pm for dinner else you might need to wait a little while longer after that when the crowd starts forming.
Since I dun own a car, public transport to me is very important. Ever since they keep increasing their fare every year, my expectation for them is also getting higher and higher.
Since around my work place, I have to take SBS bus to work every weekeday. I ahve to say that I am quite happy with the bus conditions. However they can work on the bus frequencies, like the bus supposed to come in every 5 mins during peak hours but then one bus decided to come earlier, and the bus will be pretty empty. Then the next bus that came on time, will be damned packed as the waiting time for the bus is longer.
I do find sometimes the bus a bit dirty as well but then if everyone of us take good care of it, I think the bus will be cleaner and no need to wait for the cleaners to clean the buses.
I am quite happy with the IRIS service as now I will always use it to find out how long does it take the next bus to arrive to the bus stop. I does cut down my waiting time as well. However the sms service only limited to Singtel users oly so I cannot use it.
Only 1 request, stop asking to increase fare every year and buck up on the frequency and condition of the buses.
I have been a Hubber for sometime now and I am happy to say that I made the right choice to sign up with them.
MaxOnline for me is really good and cheap. They had been giving us more bandwidth from time to time as well. I seldom had any problem with connection.
I hooked it up to a wireless router so that I can use my laptop anywhere in my flat and it proved to be good. I mainly use it for work and school wise and dun really play online games with it. So to me the speed is really more then enough.
Being a Hubber I got 10% discount some more. So I really find it a good deal!
You must think that I'm sick or something to enjoy and love a painful experience. But that's how I felt when I went for my first free treatment with compliment from my friend. She has been with them for many years, and I must say her face is very well maintained and never needed a speck of make-up. Simple and clean. And now I know why.
My first step at the entrance of the place and I was totally amazed but how big the place is. It looks posh and stylish. Using black as their main color, it brings out the modernest of the place. Angel Sky is a one-stop place for all woman who loves to be pampered. There's a movie room, a gym, a spa, a relax corner with many music CDs for our entertainment, an oxygen bar, reading corner, full shower facilities and so much more. (There's 2 levels but I haven't explored what's the the basement yet.) You can spend an entire day recharging and relaxing.
There were many rooms in the big place and each room can fit in 4 ladies. Great for a girls day out with girlfriends. I also saw smaller rooms for those who prefer to be in private.
My first trial session was by Kathy. She was very nice and friendly. She tells me where I need to pay attention to and taught me what I can do on my own to improve my super bad skin condition now. She wasn't at any one time trying to hard sell their services to me during the whole facial experience. I tried their Diamond-Lite treatment today. It helped lift my face, cleans off my dirt and oil from the face and removes the finer zits. This is done using this suction machine with a tip casted with small diamonds. She did my right side first to show me the difference before and after the treatment, and I did see a great difference. After the treatment, she started picking on my pimples, which was the painful part. I had tears in my eyes and when she did it to the huge one just next to my left eye, I almost cried out. But hey! No pain no gain ya. Have to take the pain if one wants to be pretty. (Pain or not also depends on the level of tolerance for individual. For me, I have the lowest tolerance of pain. So this part might not be that painful as I've described lah!) After the picking, Kathy trimmed my eyebrow and then put on a cold mask and a second layer of oxygen mask. It refreshed my entire face and it was nice.
I must say this is the better free trial facial I had. So good that I was already considering signing up with them when I was resting with the masks on my face. And guess what, with all the additional free sessions and services thrown in, I signed up as a VIP on the spot! Kinda crazy but I just couldn't resists the 30% discount for first timers and the extras thrown in.
I highly recommend Angel Sky to all of you out there. (Not just for the ladies, but for the guys too!)
If you want to give Angel Sky a try yourself, let me know and I'll get a free trial for you too. (Limited invitations only. While invites last.) So drop me a message soon yio.
This used to my family's favorite place for dinner or supper. For me, I can eat it everyday and will never get tired of it!
Alishan serves delicious Taiwan porridge and the wide variety of dishes just make eating porridge so much more delicious and satisfying. There are 2 types of porridge for selection, the normal plain one and the sweet potato porridge. Both at the same price - just 50cents. And the dishes price ranges from $1.50 to $12 each.
My usual order includes the steamed sotong and the chai poh egg. The steamed sotong is chewy and fresh. Dipped it into the accompanying sweet sauce and eat it together with a spoonful of porridge. Simply divine! (Just the thought of it makes my mouth water! And I'm craving for it now!)
And then there's the Chai Poh Egg. Just look at the size of the egg! It comes like a huge and thick pancake filled with chai poh and spring onion. The outside is slightly crispy and the inside is soft. Every bite of the egg gives you the crunch from the chai poh. Loveeee it!
With so many dishes for you to choose from, one bowl of porridge is never enough! My record was 4 bowls of piping hot sweet potato porridge. Can you beat that? Heee.
Been to Night Safari last month as a surprise for someone special and at the same time Starhub is having a promotion as well. It has been a long time since I had been there as well.
So took 138 from AMK interchange to reach there, fast and easy. Direct to the gate of Night Safari.
Once we reach there, we head for the ticketing counter and it was a breeze to buy tickets from the efficient and friendly staff.
Even before we step into Night Safrai, there is already a tribal show going on in front of the main entrance gate. They were there literaly playing with fire. Attracted a lot of crowd to stand and see them. They perform 3 times a night and definitely do their best to warm up the crowd before entering Night Safrai.
There is a few options to go when we are in Night Safrai. Me being a planner, decided that we took the tram ride 1st. The tram ride is basically an hour ride around the park, some of the places in Night Safrai is only accessible by the tram only. The presenters on the tram are really good as they correctly managed to remember almost everything in the park and even the names of the animals as well. The ride was fun except for some people that keep letting go of their flashes despite numerous reminders.
We dropped off at the half way point @ Lepord Trail. Took abt 25 mins to complete and managed to see most of the cats in action (ie moving.) Then took the tram for the 2nd half of the ride. This time round, was brought through a tropical rainforest.
After reaching the starting point, we headed towards to join the queue for the animal show, Creatures of the Night. Be warned that you better be there 30 mins beore the show starts as the queue is pretty long. A lot of kaisu peopl there already started queueing an hour before the show starts.
The show was good as all the presenters are very professional and all their animals are well trained as well. OUr show dragged a bit of time as an owl did not cooperate and decided to not to fly down so it took a bit of time to coax him to fly down. It is a must watch show in Night Safari.
After which, we contiune to walk on the remaining two trails, the Forest Giant trail and walk through a suspension bridge and the Fishing cat trail. Each also can be completed within 25 mins as well.
We ended the whole trip ard midnight and still managed to take 138 back to AMK interchange.
It is definitely one of the best attraction in Singapore. Worth to go and check it out.
