The amazing Isetan supermarket finally arrived in the heartland of the west side of Singapore. I was super excited to have found it as the Isetan shop front at the ground level is a bad gauge of the actual size of this departmental store.
One level down is a whole level of household, lifestyle goods, children toys and fashion while another level down you get to shop at a full fledge jap supermarket, complete with good quality sashimi and during weekends boosting lots of food stalls. I love to buy, walk and eat and especially in love with Japanese food.
The entire supermarket is well spaced and neatly arranged with a good choice of many cooked food and I must say very reasonably priced. Theres sashimi of all kinds, sushi and even Bento boxes for you to buy back. Grilled food, tempura, yummilicious salads are also plentiful and as I browse away, I saw something pretty conspicuous.
I saw these 2 guys sitting at a pavilion look alike counter in the middle of nowhere drinking beer and eating sashimi... I mean can they eat before paying? and they seemed to look so relaxed. I went nearer for a closer inspection and realised there indeed is a mini island bar that can house a band of 10-15 brothers. They serve wine, alcohol and other beverages while you could enjoy your supermarket sashimi there. Didn't really find out how they charge, yet i think its a great idea.
Nearer to the door are some pavilions which houses what look like temporary stores. One selling snacks like black beans, grilled octopus and many more interesting side dishes, i couldn't help but got myself a box of grilled squid and it was superlicious. For $7/100g, I was given quite alot of squid. It was chewy but not tough, juicy and tasty. I also bought for myself a box of tempura mushrooms but it was not nice at all. First it was cold, then soggy and limp.... rather tasteless... So well, choose wisely... everything raw is good but deep fried is cold and not tasty.... Never buying another deep fried thing there again unless its right out from the kitchen :)
The place is wonderful and I'm sure to go back....
We were excited to meet Puppymoo at the No Man's Land Event held on the 1st / 3rd wednesday every month.
Offering a free service of glitter tattoos on anywhere of your body, the queue was way too long as the night gets later, however wait i must wait. So you choose a motif then she cleans your skin and put on some non-toxic skin glue, motif on and then glitter powder... The process was superquick and very cleanly done. It last a few days on the skin minimum if you don't so often try to scratch it off. While on ankles it can last up to 2 weeks, perhaps coz we don't scratch our ankles so often. So i took a card and browsed at her site and I was amazed by the unique products Puppymoo carries on her online shop.
There are a few really interesting products and I must say some so great for children's party. Besides the non-toxic and child safe glitter tattoos that every princess loves, theres also water based nail polish which I have never heard off. The products were amazingly unique and hardly found anywhere else in Singapore. I love the service, love the concept and the interesting products. If you are looking for interesting party ideas, puppymoo is definitely the place to go to...
Head on down to the PuppyMoo Site and surprise your friends with something unique and interesting... It gives the oomph to make your parties a WOW event.
He caught my eye when his wallets starts to flame and I vowed I smelled zippo fluid or some relates that to the smell of burnt dollar notes... I mean who on earth would set their wallets on fire except to prevent their wives from over spending during a shopping spree... So while he moved nearer to me, i placed my bag behind me.... *Burn me first before you touch my wallet....*
I am always excited to meet a MAGICIAN... they never fail to wow me with their fast moving hands to make that dollar bill disappear or the pick a coin from my ear and your ear and his ear and from somebody-else's buttocks. Yes, this was not what tommy does. Matter of fact, his illusions are always laced with lotsa smoke... as our first handshake make him smoked out of his coat sleeves, so it either I'm SMOKING HOT or he is just leaking smoke!!!
Tommy has real fast hands... I mean it in a constructive way... He's engaging and have a good sense of humor. While he did some close up magic that made me wanna shut the Awing Mouths of his audiences, the performance on stage made the whole hall of people amazed. Its Fun, Amazing and Astonishing...
Being professional and creative in his tricks, Tommy indeed wowed many with the simple props and casual approaches.... It made me feel like I've made a friend that is fun, makes me laugh and keeps me away from boredom. Though he couldn't make me disappear *most likely because i'm wearing a bulky body* yet he made my worries disappear like the smoke that leaked from his sleeves. Its a wonderful experience and sure did lighten up a serious looking party with many men in suits... otherwise a starched face. :)
I was delighted to have encountered the services of Blissful Studios at one of our partner's event. They put up a themed background with a booth-full of props at the entrance of the event while Guest, Friends and Staffs get to pose with many of their cutsy props, secretly hiding the drunk look on their faces.
Yes.... with these popup photo booths, we do get a good before and after look... Before event, everybody with the near to perfect makeup and hair looked poised for pictures and the after look is usually decked with masks, hats and a fake smile to cover the drowsy looking expressions. (I'm kidding... haha). The props seriously up the fun factor for the entire event and leaves a lasting physical memory, something for you to bring home to look at, drool at and throw darts on, whichever that you fancy. Met a new friend that you pretty like, you could always drag him or her out to take a pic and keep a pic to pose on your FB, tag and have something to say to him/her for the longest time.
Service is quick, from choosing your props (if you are picky then you hold up the queue) to posing for a picture with 4 quick shots and collection of photos take about 5 mins plus minus, depending on crowd and how long you guys take to pose. But within the end of the event, you are sure to have your pictures matched to your faces and given to you in a cute memorabilia photo holder.
The Blissful Studio team is an efficient and effective team with friendly and smiley staffs that did a great job from the setting up of the booths to the clean tearing down. Though i didn't see the setting up, I've spied them tearing down with my drunk right eye and the packing up was quick and clean... I was impressed and be sure to engage them at our other events. My favourite prop would definitely be the smiling mouth.... it helps when i've got veg stucked between my teeth... :)
It has been ages since I've stepped into the Japanese Garden and while the many years of being a gym hamster didn't help in losing an ounce, I've decided on something drastic like outdoor jogging and exploring my neighborhood. Yes.. I might just be the weird one that had never been to one of the most scenic and talked about park in SG while my 30 years of staying right next to it only causes me to be amazed from afar by the beautiful scenery.
Set next to Chinese Garden and watered mainly by the Jurong Lake, this iconic Japanese Garden have got 2 entries, one from Chinese Garden Mrt and another at the other end where the carpark is. Extremely accessible, clean and conducive for children, seniors and handicapped friendly. Restrooms are available as well as plenty sitting spaces such as park benches and huge shelters that could house about 20 people.
The space apparently looked like a bird sanctuary while my early weekend jog was accompanied by a merry groups of photographers chatting away and demoing their spanking new equipment under some shelters. Bird enthusiasts and photography hobbyist gathered on a grassy space with their tripods and quietly watching, while my heavy running footsteps was almost thumping their target of affections.
I spotted some speakers that emitted bird sounds which is harmonized by the array of insect callings and real bird singing.
Theres really alot of arc bridges, streams and japanese garden art like stone gardens and carefully maintained bonsai. The place is exceptionally beautiful and I'm glad i explored this park as I'm sure to visit it more often. Its an eventful morning no doubt the one mosquito bite. Yup theres a good load of bugs yet one bite is good for a mozzie attractor like me.
Only joggers and walkers allowed, no cyclist or any form of fast rolling transport equipment. The park is only opened till 7pm, so its more of a morning and afternoon thing. Theres also an event area that is open for booking that overlooked the Jurong Country Club over the other side of the river. Its a nice space to hang with your family. The park is naturally cool and clean, perhaps is the many shades and luscious vegetation. Yar.. its free to go, no entrance fees required.
