I Pretty enjoyed my flights with Air-Asia on many occasions. Though it truly is budget in many ways, like all flights will depart from the budget terminal (discontinued late 2012), you get to walk on the parking bay and climb up the plane via a stairway... Though not as convenient and classy to fly, somehow I felt I was getting on a coach...But It sure makes flying affordable and with a choice to choose the no frills services like food, beverages and leg space. I find AirAsia's flight prices and deals usually on the better and more economical side as compared to other low cost carriers, at least for this part of the world.
I love the leather seats and I find the plane more spacious then some low cost carriers. The air smells great inside the cabin and though the staff are not so attentive and helpful, they do their job pretty well. I find them casual and not pushy with the cart merchandises.
I'm always on a lookout on their website from new promotions and good deals as I do grab a steal at times. The destinations they do are pretty nicely spread-ed out and you could even go to Japan at a fraction of the cost. Its a pretty comfy flight and cleanliness of the cabin is pretty okay...
Love the in-flight magazine as they have pretty good articles though the merchandise available are pretty boring. And yes.. not much entertainment on-board however, a few times on this flight, they upgraded me to the premium seat near the emergency outlet with so much leg space I could dance and do a 360 flip... (not as if i know how to flip)...
Love this low cost carrier....
Oh yar.... in malaysia, this flight departs from the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) in KLIA and its a mess there.... With so many flights going everywhere, so if you transit or board there, please arrive a little earlier to find your way around. Though the check in is very quick, you could get lost walking here and there....
Took Jetstar a few times to various locations such as taiwan, hongkong, indonesia, vietnam and even malaysia. I should say, judging by the number of other low-cost carriers, JetStar is priced at the higher side.
Though I love the fact that it departs from terminal 1 in Changi Airport and not from the budget terminal (discontinued late 2012), the gate is way way way too far from the check in gates.
The seats are pretty much upright and have almost no leg space, I sat with me knees touching the seat in front and i'm of a height of 1.66m. Seats are completely non adjustable however I pretty like the onflight magazine. Oh yar... you don't get to do much except read the onflight magazine.
Shortly after the take-off, the in flight crew will start to call for sales like (DIM SUM Aunties) on food and beverages. That happened twice for the entire journey and once for the flight shop that merchandises cosmetics, perfume, souvenir trinkets and alcohol.
Most flights these days are almost 100% non-smoke flights and despite the huge plane, the toilets are few. Water is also not provided, you have to buy the bottled water about (200-300ml smallest I;ve ever seen). I wonder if its because of the limited toilets that they are discouraging passengers to drink more water. Toilet cubicle is tight and small however its moderately clean.
The entire flight is boring and non very comfortable. The flight timings are also pretty awkward.. I've ever taken a night flight to taiwan on JetStar and arrived with a back ache due to the non-adjustable seat, sleepy, dehydrated and in the wee hours of the morning... Imagine this.. You can't lay back, you can't lay forward and sleep on the table, your knee is squashed, so is your feet, so... always choose to seat at the aisle so at least you get to stretch your feet outwards.
However, they do have some really good deals to neighbouring countries and I have yet to get on its flight to australia. I hope to try its other route and see how it goes :)
I've been having Long John Silver's for breakfast for a few mornings already.... I simply love the breakfast menu. From tasty thick french toast drizzled in maple syrup to deep fried fish sandwich with a layer of thick omelet wrapped in buttered thick toast... Super filling super yummy and super worth-it.
For a mere S$5.80, you get a good huge sandwich with a cup of coffee.. Add on a few cents for their super potent ice milo infused with mint topped with milo crunch cereal.
Love the entire sandwich combination and i find the fried fish batter thin and crispy with succulent fish within that is both juicy and tasty. Also, I love the fact that their disposable cutlery are made with corn-ware which is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
Environment is spacy and you get many seats to choose from though afternoon could be a little sunny at some spots, but there are ample seats all around and they are spacious. Though the occasional flies and the zapping sound of the nearby insect electrocute, i find it a pretty nice place to hang and for breakfast. Also, you may ask for as many packets of tartar sauce as you like.
Love the space, love the succulent food, love the french fries in their special batter, love the new minty milo and the breakfast menu. LJS... you are definitely gonna see more of me :)
I went to soup spoon for a quick and healthy dinner last week and was glad to find the queue almost non existent.
I simply love the various types of broths and frankly I find their soup full of goodness with a good spread of vegetables and lean meat. As I'm heading for the gym later, I opt for a light chicken based broth which is called TOKYO CHICKEN STEW.... added a half sandwich and ice-tea to complete my meal, costing me altogether ($12.90).
The portion is great , bowl is pretty huge and the stew is full of good stuffs. Love the onions, carrots and all sorts of other veg that is put into it and also the lean chicken cubes.. simply perfect, healthy, light yet nourishing. The half teriyaki chicken sandwich is of a pretty reliable portion, though halved, its still pretty filling. Splash it all down with some good old iced lemon tea that is refreshing and farmiliar...
I love the selection of broths available, the sandwiches are also packed with a combination of healthy and nourishing goodness and the portion makes me feel that my money is well spent. Also love the calories indication as well as vegetarian options on certain stews such as the minestrone.
Do not like the seats as they feel like its in the middle of nowhere and usually during some weekends, its really difficult to get a seat as there are many air hoggers (Hoggers that are not diners and eats air that takes up seat space). I hope to also enjoy dessert here :)
Overall, the price is okay, the food is good and healthy and if you would like to pack home, they have ready packed soup for your to take away... love the packing... great thinking :)
If you enjoy taiwanese street snacks, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snack is the one of the few that does it quite similar to the authentic taiwan street snacks.
Love their XXL Fried chicken fillet. Its crunchy and yummy however, I would prefer it more juicy on the inside. Its really huge the nice staff helped me cut it into smaller pieces. Service I should say could be faster, however there is always a long queue at this outlet. I am disappointed by the type of toppings they have. Usually in taiwan, they do have sour plum powder, black pepper and chilli powder (I find the sg version, not as nice and a little too salty). Here, you only get the chilli powder. The deep fried sweet potato strips also lack in flavour as well as texture though still a healthier alternative to french fries as sweet potatoes are more nutritious naturally.
The oyster noodles also lack in taste and flavour and I find it a little bit too starchy... Its okay for buy, eat and walk and I truly hope that they could improve in flavour and quality of food.... Love the fact that we could find taiwanese street food in this multi-cultural society unique in SG.....
