My favourite hang out cafe especially on sunday mornings while waiting to go for church service... Located next to subway and the food court which is currently under renovation, nicely tucked at a cosy corner spanning a good number of about 10 tables is everyone's favourite cafe.
My favourite food if you may ask is the good old ham and cheese toast.. Somehow, I feel nowhere makes the grilled ham and cheese toast as nicely as Cross Talk. Well you may say maybe i'm too hungry or perhaps its the press grill... Somehow... its very yummy for me.. I love the crispyness of the bread coupled by the buttery inside with juicy ham and nice gooey cheese... Grab a cup of regular coffee and you are on your way to paradise.
They do also serve a good range of cafe food and local snacks and quick meals like Nasi-Lemak, Soft Boiled eggs, etc. Price wise i think its pretty economical for dining in town. Its a simple small place ran by locals. Extremely homely, cosy, easy and great for small chit-chats or informal business talks. Not really a good place for big groups but if you are looking for a not so noisy and cosy place which serves pretty nice snacks with some quiet chit-chat this is the place. I particularly love the seats near the glass window panals as i love to watch bustling everyday happening while sipping my cuppa potent caffine laced beverage.
Nothing really WOW-ing but its great for weekly or daily homely hangouts :)
Great place, Friendly staff and fabulous grilled sandwiches.. YUM!!!
If you like to eat curry, or curry rice or mixed vegetables with rice, then you must go for the Tian Tian Hainanese Curry Rice. As we know, hainanese are also famous for their pork chops, so when you are there.. Be sure to also order the pork chop.
Located in a Coffee Shop just in front of the carpark and connected via a covered walkway to the Hawker Centre, Tian Tian is almost always crowded. They are famous for their curry rice and I must say, they live up to their fame. The curry drizzled on the rice is smooth, flavourful and very terrorizing. Terrorizing because it made one plate of rice insufficient.
I was there on a weekday late morning and as recommended by my foodie colleague, we went ahead to order the famous pork chop, some toufoo, stirred fried vegetables and fried fish. They have a good variety of dishes to choose from and they all looked yummy but most tantalizing would be the concoction of curry sauce. I noticed the lady mixed up to 3 types of curry sauce to be drizzled on our plates of rice and the smell of the curry is intoxicating and I was salivating while i carry the food over to our table. My first taste of the curry was surprising as I expected it to be spicy but it was not at all. The taste was mellow and pretty much in between the japanese curry and nonya curry. The thinly sliced crispy pork chops were juicy and tasty...
Overall the food was great, though I think the cleaners could have done a better job in keeping the seating area much cleaner, it was a pleasant lunch. Food is great, Price is reasonable though slightly on the higher side, service is prompt and with a smile.... Great Singapore Foodie Hangout :)
Oh yar... If you dabao, they do give a generous portion but do ask for more curry sauce.
I've faced some laptop problems lately, I mean my 4 year old laptop has had better days and i tribute the troubles it had for the last one year as somekind of technological rheumatism, however it has deteriorated into some sort of an immobile conditions whereby it hangs so frequently and handicapped me a great deal. Upon hearing some good comments from a friend who had walked the entire SIM LIM SQUARE meticulously finding the best shop to repair his 3 years old SONY VAIO, I've decided to pop by the shop to see what the damages are.
Located on the bustling 3rd level at the corner, I am greeted by a view of simple furnishing and plently of computer parts, repaired laptops and refurbished laptops stored like books on the shelf. As I stopped at the front counter, the friendly staff immediately asked me what help i needed. Upon discussing the condition of the my laptop, she helped me do a scan and later provided some professional advices which gave me hope. My most loyal and faithful aging companion had finally hope for rejuvenation! She briefly go through the processes she will do and the end result and most importantly, she did mention that she might be able to keep most of the information still intact and an hour is all she needs.
After 45 mins of a fabulous lunch break at the food court in the basement, I received a call from her that my laptop is ready for collection and upon collection, she did a check for me while i witness my rejuvenated Lenovo X61 do its due dilligence. It ran pretty smoothly, just like an antique car fixed on with a new engine. Not powerful and sophisticated like a newly built however, good enough for my usage. I thank her and paid a sum of $50 for all the checking and reinstallation of a new OS complete with some of my inherent programs and drivers.
Service is good, efficient and trustworthy. I mean I have had experience with some other repair shops in the same location that did not do a good job, plenty of take back and do it again recurrents and they charged me sky high... So if you have some laptop troubles, this shop is a good option. I;ve had a good experience here and i'm sure you might too...
.
Great place to hang around if you are with some friends and looking for a place to rest your legs and chat up a little. Sadly they only have like 2 sets of couch seat which could house approximately 8 person and the rest of the seats are normal dining height table and chairs.
I admit... its pretty hard to get seats especially on weekends and near to exam season as we do see many students making study time here. Its not exactly conducive for study with the noise and discussions going on.
2 things i really like about this place.
1) The merchandise corner. They have 2 merchandise area. One is near the entrance whereby you could see all their merchandises like Coffee powders, tea leaves, Coffee Machines, the ever so lovely mugs, cups and other memorabilia. The second one is this rack of tea leaves and cans of premium chocolate powder and other drinking stuffs on this classic wooden rack surrounded by dining tables and chairs. Browsing is easy and the items are so reachable, despite the steep prices, I myself have bought quite a number of their merchandises for myself and my friends and families.
2) The condiment counter is great. Last i checked, they do have a great variety of topping powder instead of just the regular, chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla, they now have 'STOLEN' and other exotic concoctions for you to SPICE UP YOUR DRINKS.. I simply LOVE THAT KIND OF FUN!!!
I always loved the "ALL DAY BREAKFAST" I think its a pretty good deal for a hearty breakfast that always serve with a side salad of hearty lettuce and cherry tomatoes, with chopped almonds and cranberry drizzled with italian sauce... HEALTHY and APPETIZING... Coupled with a cup of all day refill brew of the day... Its pretty worth it as a decent breakfast in a comfy environment just goes at most S$12.
Also try the lunch sets.... I tried the black pepper chicken Fettucini and it was great.. For S$13, I've got a huge plate of yummilicious main with a glass of ice fruit tea. The serving was really good and it took the help of my other friend to finish it. The sauce and chicken is of a generous portion, noodles well cooked and springy when chewed.
Besides great coffee, great breakfast and interesting merchandises.. Now their Lunch are also fabulous.
I took a full beginner's course with Pro18 Golf which consist of trainings on the range and a session in the golf course. I enjoyed the classes as the trainers are helpful and good at imparting their knowledge.
My first lesson was learning the correct grip, hitting the ball and proper stance as well as golf etiquette. Being a total beginner and having 5 other classmates, I struggled a little however with clear instructions from the patient trainers Pro Chubby and Pro Yusri. I finally managed to hit the ball without much embarrassment from flying rooftop balls or balls rolling down or even balls hitting the side guard with a loud bang alerting the rest of the golfers to turn around and look. At the end of the class I was encouraged and the instructors were very nice to invite us to come back to the range to practice on weekdays evenings as they can be around to guide.
The following weekday I turned up at the range and there were other classes, but as I practiced my swing with my bucket of 100 balls, Chubby or Yusri would stop by occasionally and encouraged me while also correcting my posture and training me with more advance techniques. I could see their passion in playing Golf and teaching Golf... These extra classes went on for almost the entire period of my course with them and i truly appreciate the extra tips and training that was passed on to me.
I could now play fairly well and look forward to take on more classes with Pro Chubby and Pro Yusri. I see their dedication, passion and patience in which i think patience is most likely a result from the experience of teaching newbies like me... as we sure could generate quite abit of frustration from Mind / Hand / Instruction non-coordination.
Overall, they are good at what they do, classes and instructions are clear, concise and practical. The location is great and they do have spare equipment for use. Prices are economical and I feel that I received so much more than what I have paid for... VALUE is SUPERB... and they make the classes so enjoyable.. Great memories for me :)
