Poh Piah Stall   Liang Teh   poh piah set   Bang Kwang Up Close   all rolled up poh piah
I was there for the poh piah.... It was soo.... Good..

I always loved poh piah because its healthy with lots of fibre.... I mean how many yummy food out there are healthy and yummy at the same time....

I totally love the idea of wrapping my own poh piah.. I think its fun.. and I can really put the stuffs i want to eat into a nice packet before i stuff it into my mouth.... Poise.. Aside...

You only need to pay for the pot of shredded nicely stewed tunip or some call it bangkwang... The skin, sauce, vegetables and crispy stuff is all free flow, however, only ask for refill when you can finish them... We don't want to waste such good stuffs....

The skin is freshly made from the factory next door... Its fun to watch the SHI FU.. make the skin after which when u eat it, you could totally appreciate the freshness and I could almost taste the Q-ness of the skin......

The tunip.. or bang Kwang is nicely stewed.. Soft yet crunchy, full of flavour especially the baby shrimps totally added to the richness of this dish... Some halfed prawns... which taste like poached prawns... is of a normal size..

    So here's how it goes....
    1) Take a yummy skin.. One will do.. Sprayed some sweet sauce, chilli and my favourite minced garlic.

    2) Add a leaf or 2 Veg

    3) Put 2 spoonful of bang kwang and lace on the prawn..

    4) Absorb the beautiful sight....

    5) Wrap it up with folding the sides first and then the bottom and roll it up to the top...

    6) Lick your fingers and TUCK IN.. after which... lick your fingers again...

    Mmmmm... I'm hungry now...

Totally educational, healthy and fun experience.... Its a must go.. especially with kids... Its fun and yummy plus it does not burn a hole in your pocket...

By The Way... they serve LiangTeh in a guinness stout glass.. Which is so cute.. heehee!

How about some gasless cooling stout???

        333. Burger King (Amara)

Just Taste Better   advert   Ham Crossantwich   The place   the place 2
        I love fast-food.. I'm the FASTFOOD Generation.....
I used to remember during my schooling days... That my best excuse to have a fast food lunch is to tell mum and dad that i'll be studying with my friends at Burger Kings... but now.. i am so pissed... with kids studying at restaurants, taking up space and making so much noise....

Well we all grow... however... till today I am still intrigued with the whopper.... I love the thick beef patty with plenty of veg and sauces.. Though messy to eat.. it is always enjoyable to finish one whopper... Yes... I do have a Big Mouth and a HUGE Appetite...

The outlet at the Amara is quiet during in between meal hours.. but to be avoided during lunch hours.... Its a nice setting, with plentiful seats and very friendly staffs. It’s not noisy and the best thing is that you don't see much students studying there... Who knows... we might meet some cute white collars here :)

With their juicy burgers and low salt fries... I guess burger king is much healthier to eat then other fast food...

A MUST TRY..... is the croissant wich... I love this... It’s Soft, Juicy and Buttery.... Now they serve this all day..... So I don't have to rush for the breakfast set anymore.. How wonderful.....

Menu   place   naked   dressed with chocolate   shadow on the wall?
I was craving for ice-cream the other day and after looking around many other ice-cream cafes.. I have decided on Anderson's of denmark... Matter of fact.. I was a great fan of anderson's Ice-Cream Shakes... I used to buy them as a walk-around dessert in a cup while my mum shops.....

The creamy and rich flavoured ice-cream with thick milk.. though its not very slimming.. but is smooth on the throat and very fulfilling....
I love chocolate chips shakes... as you will have bits of chocolate chips to munch on... If not get the one with bits of brownies... It sure makes you a happie girl....

Quote ME: NO Woman can refuse a good tub of ICE-CREAM....

I mean.. Me and My GAGA Girlie Pals go for ice-cream when we are in mourning or when we have something to celebrate about..... What more.. if we have nothing to do but to laze the afternoon away.....

Back to the ice-cream.... When I was there.. i ordered 4 naked scoops in a waffle bowl.. Just NAKED..... I the fact that it came along with a mini jug of chocolate sauce for me to drizzle on top... Very Heart Warming.. and theres this piece of chocolate in the shape of their mascot......

          I ordered.....
          1) Rum and Raisin - My favourite.. Very rich and have just the right amount of raisin...

          2) Fruits of the Forest - Slightly sour but very fruity, with bits of frozen berries in a lovely hue of purple.... Exotic...

          3) Double Chocolate - Very CHOCOLATELY.. But i like it because it not too sweet and feels a little bitter to taste... Its real DARK CHOCOLATE... NICEY...

          4) Blueberry - My childhood favourite... creamy with streaks of blue excitement.... Exotic

The couches are comfy and you can really laze there watching people walk by... Its also a good meeting place for friends or perhaps a good place to wait for your girlfriend when she shops....

Nice, spacy and Easy to hangout place with value for money and yummy ice-cream :)

          335. Red Lacquer
             27 Feb 2009 at 10:13 pm
Prawn Noodle   My Nasi Lemak   Chicken Curry Closeup   Acar Close Up   Ikan Bilis
I was looking for a good place for lunch the other day with my partner and we came by the Red Lacquer....

Its a beautiful place with Red Lanterns, Red Lacquered tables and chairs, not to forget the great view from the large window pane.. overlooking whats left of the scenery in JURONG Industrial area.

The menu was a simple fare... They serve traditional food like prawn noodles, fried oyster egg, nasi lemak, curry and other peranakan stuffs. What i really like is that they took the effort to write the names in the peranakan spellings.. Its interesting and educational for me.

We ordered one chicken curry nasi lemak. The ikan billis were yummy, achar nice and crunchy, not to forget the yummy coconut rice, which is just right a portion to my delight.... not forgetting the star.... Chicken Curry. A little too spicy for me, however savoury and the chicken is tender yet full of flavour. I was given the thigh and i love thighs.... they are not too hard yet gives a nice firmness...

We also ordered the penang hokkien mee SPECIAL.. in which they gave bigger prawns and perhaps a little more of this and that. It was yummy, savoury and truly peranakan.

One thing not to be missed when having penang food is the Chendol... The chendol came with a separate cup of coconut milk.. I like this arrangement as some people like me, do not enjoy coconut milk as much. However, this coconut milk is rich, creamy and smooth therefore its very pleasing to taste. Its pretty nice, but the ice at the bottom is all frozen. I guess they must have prepared and froze it. Well it serves quickly but the frozen bottom does not add much to taste.

The only thing i am not too pleased is that they do not serve ice or warm water.... I do not enjoy restaurants that do not serve plain water.... Its not costly or troublesome, yet when not served water, it always leaves a bad impression.

I'm not going back there again.. just because they do not serve water... :P
