The one thing good about this outlet is that it isnn't that crowded, attributed by its location which is nt very accessible if you are taking public transport.
Therefore, you can expect a shorter queue as well as avoiding seeing or hearing the famous statement such as "Despite doubling our staff and increaing our production efficiency , we may nt be able to serve you promptly as desired, blar blar blar", by another donut franchise. Haha.
As for the donuts themselves, the flavours are more or less the same as that of Donut Factory. And as what Dilly had mentioned, they put their donuts out on display, thu making them cold and not so visually appealing as seeing it coming fresh out of the oven.
Overall, the donuts are just so-so and the only plus point is being the relatively shorter queue.
Had been to this cafe once with my friends. That was my first time eating there though I had walked past it several times while strolling along Singapore River.
Me and my friends ordered a couple of dishes to share among us. Our order included Fritto Misto (a seafood platter with crab cakes, prawn tails), Pollo E Peperoni pizza (consisting of tomato, mozzarella, chicken, bell pepper and basil) and Al Crudo pizza ( consisting Rucola, Parma Ham, Tomato and Mozzarella Cheese). The taste of the platter and pizzas were really quite nice. The crust of the pizza were not too thick and were done crisp and not heavy on the flour. The ingredients were fresh and juicy.
The cafe is famous for its wide range of desserts such as homemade gelato, pastries and celebratory cakes. So we decided to try some of the pastries out. We ordered a total of 5 different pastries, which is called Pasticceria in Italian.
They were Diplomatica, Musa, Cassata Siciliana, Soffiato , and Tiramisu. All of them really tasted good and nt very sweet as well. Recalling all thi smakes me drool!! *Slurp*
So for those who are more health conscious. do not worry!!!
There are many more different types of pastries that I will go back to try as well as the gelato. All in all, I would recommend this place for people who have a weakness for nice pastries.
Had been to this outlet several times before. I would say that the service there is quite good and the staff are very helpful. The view there is great, if you are seated at the balcony area. Also, there is a lesser crowd there as compared to teh one at Bugis and thus, one need not have to wait in the queue for a long time. Normally when I go there, I can go in straightaway without waiting at all. (",)
As for the food, my personal favorite are the Billy's BBQ Buffalo Ribs, Honey Stung Crispy Golden Chicken, Yin & Yang Burger, American Fries and Onio Rings. The taste is good and value for money. Also, do order the lemon tea as it comes in a min pitcher which can be shared among two people.
I would say that the place has good food for money and it is very accessible as well, since The Central is directly above Clarke Quay MRT (NEL ). So do go there and give it a try.
Was at this outlet a couple of weeks ago.. As compared to the outlet at Raffles City, I felt that the service here was seriously much better. Firstly, instead of you having to fin your seats, they will usher you to your seats and let you have a choice of seats if the place isn't very crowded.
Secondly, the staff service was prompt and helpful in explaining some of the items on the menu to us. Thirdly, the staff brought two glasses of iced water to us even without us asking for it and somemore, iced water could be taken on your own from the bread counter as I saw later.
So I ordered a set of CRISPY COMBO, which was a Golden combination of crispy fried chicken fish fillets, prawn dippers, rodeo wings, mixed vegs & fries comes with 2 dips, B.B.Q. sauce & chef's special sauce ( which I think is mayo mixed with abit of wasabi). I must say that the food also tasted better than that at Raffles City.
So overall, I would give it a thumbs up and go back for more if the crowd is nt that huge. Lastly, from time to time, they have special promotions for credit card payments, so do check it out with the staff when you are paying your bill.
If memory serves me correct, I have only eaten twice in that restaurant and both times, I left with a not so good impression.
The first time round, was with a grp of polymates. And one of the guy's meal came only after everyone were already halfway through their meals and his order was nothing complicated that required a long time to prepare.
The second time, again the same thing happened. And like what Polarbear had mentioned, the only thing nice there is perhaps the bread, which is free flow. But hey cmon, I go there nt to just eat bread loh!!!
SO overall, I dnt think I would go back to this outlet anymore till their standards improve.

Ytd was at the Starbucks Raffles City to talk abt some insurance thingy with agent and gf. SO after we were done, gf nated to eat at the Cafe Cartel next door. So despite the poor experiences I had in the past I decided to give it one more chance. But still they disappointed me. I ordered two dishes but they only keyed in one!!! Luckily I discovered it quite early on else I would have been sitting there waiting in vain for my meal. So therefore, its proven to me that this outlet's service still is nt up to standard and needs lots of improvement.
Last visited this place abt two months ago for a fren's birthday chalet. Basically, the place didnt change much since years ago, thou a new cineplex is coming up at the end of teh year I think. Maybe by then things will get better.
Over there, nthg much to do except going to casino, Wild Wild Wet and Downtown East Theme Park, which I think is a waste of money cos the games aint that exciting and yet the queue can be quite long.
Also, the swimming pool in the chalet area is pathetically small!!! ANd with kids all playing aound in the same pool, one can't really do any serious swimming.
Overall, I would say the chalet facilities are just normal, with a small TV, a fridge and the beds are like so small. In addition, the walls are actually nt that thick and if one listens intently, u can actually pick out parts of the conversation going on in the next door. LOL.
So hopefully when the new cineplex is up, things will be much better with more entertainment amenities.
Was at IKEA Tampines on Sunday to see see look look. Wanted to try out the meatballs recommended by my colleague, who has been talking abt it. So the first thing I did was to go and find the Swedish meatballs at the cafe. Upon reaching, I saw that the crowd was quite big, with a lot o fthe 3-tier trolleys lying around and blocking the passageway. In addition, there were people who were hoarding the seats even though they were already done with their meal.
The queue itself was quite alrite, thou it did take me sometime before I got out of it. Just bought the Swedish meatballs. It was ok, nt really that fantastic as I thought it was.
May go back and try the other foods on a weekday perhaps instead to avoid the crowd.
Was at this restaurant during Father's day. My sister had previously eaten at this place with her colleagues and found it to be good so we decided to go there and try t out.
Indeed the food was not bad. During the lunch period, you could opt either the tim sum buffet (30 items) or the chinese dishes buffet (50 items). As fo dinner buffet (yet to try till now), there was only the chinese dishes buffet available.
While we were there, we opted for the tim sum buffet. The food was served promptly and the servings were fairly large. The taste of the 虾饺, 烧卖,猪肠粉,etc were good too and juicy and fresh. Just to add on, even though we had ordered the tim sum buffet, we did still ordered a couple of the chinese dishes on an ala carte basis. And I must say the chinese dishes were well worth the money too. The price list is as shown:
Buffet Lunch
11.30am - 2.30pm (Last Order at 2pm)
Tim Sum - 30 Items at only
$11.80 Per Pax (Mon-Fri)
$14.80 Per Pax (Sat, Sun, Eve of Public Holidays & Public Holidays)
Chinese Dishes - 50 Items at only
$20.80 Per Pax (Mon-Fri)
$22.80 Per Pax (Sat, Sun, Eve of Public Holidays & Public Holidays)
Buffet Dinner
6.30pm - 10.30pm (Last Order at 9.30pm)
Chinese Dishes - 50 Items at only
$21.80 Per Pax (Mon-Fri)
$23.80 Per Pax (Sat, Sun, Eve of Public Holidays & Public Holidays)
However, do take note that this restaurant is really uite crowded, especially on occassions like Mother's Day, Father's Day. So do make a reservation before going down, cos' I really did see them turning people away who did not make a reservation when I was there.
Had been to the Straits Cafe on several occasions, always there for its buffet dinner. The spread of food was quite ok. There was salmon sashimi, nigiri sushi, smoked salmon, bbq chicken, steak, etc. There is also local food such as laksa. As for desserts, there some nice pastries as well as the traditional red bean and green bean soup. However, as compared to the some of the buffet dinners I had before, as such that in Pariss or Vienna, the spread was relatively lesser in variety.
The taste of the food was overall satisfactory, but not to be really fantastic. In addition, the price of the dinner ain't that cheap either. Therefore for those looking for a good meal at a good price, I don't think this is the place for you. So you may want to give it a miss.
However, if you really want to at least try it once, I do recommend that you make a reservation as it may be quite crowded at times and you end up making a wasted trip there.
Was at The Cathay yesterday to catch the show "Lust,Caution" at Hall 2 of the Cineplex. This was only my 2nd time watching a movie there.
I must say that the leg room was quite good. Wide and plenty of room to let ppl walk past effortlessly. All the seats were like couple seats, as the handrest between two seats can always be lifted up. And the sound system was quite good as well.
However, the cushions seems to have some sort of a smell which both me and my partner noticed. As I don't frequent there, I can't confirm if it was just my seats (I was sitting in the last row corner) or the same for all seats. Anyone else had such experiences to share perhaps?
And I must say that the food there seems to be slightly pricier than that of GV cinemas. And like what Pharque had mentioned in her review, the number of shows and times lots also lose out to GV.
Overall I would say that it is a good cinema but more improvements could still be done.
