Was brought to this place by my gf. First step into the restaurant made a deep impression as the setting was really quite Okinawa-style and had a very authentic and classic Japanese home-owned business.

We ordered a couple of dishes, namely Sashimi moriwase ( mixed platter of sashimi), tori kaarage, pork belly in special sauce, stirred fried beef, gohan (white steamed rice), Chawamushi.

I must say that the taste is really quite different from what you eat at those franchised Japanese restaurants. The sashimi was really fresh (thou only a few pieces). The Chawamushi was very silken smooth and the pork belly was very juicy yet not too fatty.

Although the price is slightly higher, I feel that it is worth it as the taste of the food is definitely worth the price. So do go and give it a try one day if you happen to pass by.

Thanks to a dear friend, I got a chance to enjoy their lunch buffet recently. According to her, the variety of dishes has become lesser as compared to before they renovated and moved up the place. Not sure how long ago was that thou.

When I was there, the crowd were mostly the senior citizens who've retired and has lots of time (and money) to spend. There were also families and taitai look-alike there. If not for the lunch meeting, I would probably never have a chance to dine at such a place.

The food though variety is not plentiful, but the spread was good enough for lunch. And the most important thing is that its fresh and taste very well.

My favorite from that day was the Thai Seafood Curry, Fresh Salmon Sashimi, couple of the appertisers and the hazelnut chocolate cake from the desserts bar.

And the highlight at Rose Veranda is the huge variety of tea available free-flow(!!!) for customers. I spent 15minutes going through and deciding which to try. If I had the time, I would have ordered like few options (one after another) to try more varieties.

Rose Veranda is a great place to spend the afternoon with friends over good quality tea and great food. The setting is very comfortable and they've got very comfy sofa seats too.

If you're planning to give it a try, don't forget to call for reservations! Even if its on a weekday!

Next to find chance to try The Line!

Its one of those rare days where you'll find me in a KTV room. But after that night with the crazy bunch, I think I'll be visiting these cosy rooms pretty often! They made KTV so fun and enjoyable! It's the best session I've had in years!

Like all KTV places, there'll be the standard fruit platters and tidbits which you're "forced" to pay for. And imo, the tidbits is to make our throat feel uncomfortable so that we will order more drinks to smoothen it so we can sing more songs/ better. But of course, you can choose not to those these tidbits and let it lao hong (gets soften) over the 4 hours in the air con room.

The collection of songs was great and about 85% of those we selected were of original mtv. The sound system was very good too. Except for one of the mic in our room which couldn't be turned off. The room was just nice for 9 of us, and the sofas were clean and comfortable too.

One thing I learned about singing at KTV rooms is never to go late! If you book the room at 10pm, be there on time. Their clock starts counting from 10pm instead of 10.30pm where we finally got settled in the room. So instead of the full 4 hours of singing time, we sang for only 3.5 hours.

I'm so looking forward to our next session together! Let's try their other outlets too!

Thanks to the food hunters! We managed to have our Christmas dinner at this hidden place. I think I've heard about it before but never really thought of trying it. But no regret after I tried it.

When we arrived, the place was empty with only one table filled. But as the night comes, the place gets very packed with hungry families and friends.

The choice of food is pretty decent, and they're fresh. Agree that the beef was fantastic! We should have ordered more of it! Love the mini custard bao which needs exactly 2mins in the boiling steamboat to cook/ heat it.

Their choice of cooked food though little, but they are of good quality too imo. Love the lemongrass chicken, fried chicken wing, sotong you tiao and cucumbers!

The service staff were helpful too. When the table couldn't put that huge number of plates we ordered, they helped us "throw" all the food into our steamboats too.

And do you know who owns this place? Its Terrence Cao the TCS actor.

Nice place for gatherings and hungry souls.

*No photos caused everyone was hungry and too lazy to take out our cameras! LOL!

Celebrated at Beng Hiang restaurant for my gf's mum birthday. Came to know of this place thru gf's sister, who claimed that the restaurant served good and authentic Hokkien fare. Therefore decided to give it a try.

The setting of the place was nice and could house about 30 tables. We ordered a few dishes namely the Fish Maw Soup, Ngo Hiang with Har Cho (signature dish!!), Hokkien Mee, Oyster Omelette and mixed vegetables (Lo Han Zhai).

Firstly, the fish maw soup was simply superb and tasted almost like the real shark's fin soup and maybe even better, as it was not that starchy. As for the signature dish, Ngo Hiang with Har Cho, the food were fried to a crisp yet were not oily at all. The servings were reasonable as well.

As for the oyster omelette, it was quite different from what we normally eat at food courts or hawker centers. Basically, it was crisp and non-oily with the oysters fresh and juicy. This was good especially for elders, who can't take too much oily food.

However, the Hokkien mee was served quite late and the taste was not really that fanastatic as compared to the other dishes. And in the midst of waiting for the Hokkien mee, we ordered another signature dish, the Kong Ba Pao. The meat was not too fatty and the portions served were reasonably good. However, for a small size serving of the Kong Ba Pao , there were actually 10 buns!! This is something which I observed for many other dishes, where a small sized serving was slightly oversized for a small group of people. In addition, like the chicken, you can only order either half a chicken or one whole chicken. This seems quite inflexible as customers cant have the option of ordering a portion anything smaller than half a chicken.

However, I would say that the dishes are indeed very tasty and I would go back there to try out the rest of the other dishes as well, especially the suckling pigs, which need to be pre-ordered. And one good thing is that there is no service charge for the bill. Though you are charged for the peanuts, tea and towels, which may be less than 10% of the bill if you eat more dishes.

eaten a couple of times at Werner's Oven. Had tried their clam chowder soup, which was quite nice, thou the amount of clams could be slightly more generous. Also tried their calamari, which was not too oily and yet still tasted very nice. The garlic sausage was quite good as well and the serving was just nice. Lastly would be the pork knuckle, which everyone should try. The pork knuckle was deep fried to a crisp and yet the meat was still very tender and came off easily the bone. The taste was not bad either, though I personally felt it to be slightly saltish. A side note is that the lime juice and pineapple juice were nice as well.

Overall, I find that the food there is quite to my liking. However the service of the staff there tends to be slightly sluggish and could be improved. WIll still go back there to try out the different foods.

heard a lot of Hog's Breath but yet to try it till a few days again. The place was quite sparsely decorated with only a couple of customers. Looked through the menu and saw quite a variety of food. Decided to call a Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib and half a slab of the Baby Back Pork Ribs.

The Baby Bck Pork Ribs were quite nicely done and the amount was fairly large as well as it was served with fries and salad. As for the Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib, It was less than ideal though. Though the serving was large, the taste was not that fantastic. I had ordered for it to be cooked medium-rare, but the meat when served was overcooked and none of the tenderness it was supposed to have. In addition, there was none of the pinkish-red in the meat as well for meat that was expected of a medium-rare meat. This was definitely not comparable to that of Aston's.

I think I would not try Hog's Breath again in the near future, at least not in this outlet.

Been to this Japanese Food Bazzar a couple of times, Basically I would say that this place's concept is quite similar and in some ways identical to that of Marche's. Only difference would be that this places serves mostly Japanese food instead of Western, which suits me fine.

I have tried the egg omelette, seafood pizza, sashimi, grilled food ( squid, bacon and asparagus on skewer, beef on skewer, fried vegetable, etc). And I must say that they taste much much better than those I have eaten before at Marche's. It is likely due to the sauces that they used in teh grilling. As for the sashimi, it is fresh and melts in your mouth. But the price is a bit steep for only a few slices of the sashimi. But I personally feel that it is worth the money.

It can get quite crowded on weekends and as such the waiting time for your fo dcan get a bit long as well as the queuing up time to get into the restaurant. Therefore do be prepared to wait. All in all, this is a great place to eat when you are with a big group of friends. But do watch your orders to avoid racking up a hefty bill.

Was at this outlet of the Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe at Plaza Singapura a couple of weeks ago. Ordered the prok floss fried rice, beef horfun as well as the deep fried spring rolls. Inaddition , ordered two drinks, namely the Honey Green Tea and Iced Lime Tea. For the drinks, felt that they were a bit tad too sweet. So had to ask the waiteress to add more ice to the drinks to dilute them to make them more drinkable.

As for the food, the pork floss rice was quite average, with the amount of pork floss deemed to be quite measly. As for the beef horfun, it was ok but the taste was not really superb. At best, it was comparable to those you eat at hawker centers. The only good thing was perhaps the spring rolls, which were considered the best amongst the three dishes.

To conculde, the food there is only average and does not justify the slightly high price. Unlikely to go back there again in the near future

This shop is at the basement of Tampines Mall, loacted just opposite the NTUC Fairprice supermarket. It sells nice cakes such as chocolate truffle, Tiramisu, Banana chocolate cake and many more, It also sells nyona kuehs and cookies during festive seasons. Everytime I go there, I never fail to buy some back for my family. And everytime the quality of the cakes have never failed to impress me. The cakes are neither too sweet nor too creamy for those who are more health conscious and yet like to eat cakes.

The prices are quite affordable and if you wanna try the cakes, they have samples or you can buy a single slice of the flavour you want before buying one log of the cake. In addition, if you are a SAFRA member, you can get 10% off the total bill. All in all, this cake shop though having a limited selection of variety of cakes, is one that is worthwhile to pay a visit to.
