When my colleagues decided to give Kuishin Bo a try, after reading about it here, we didn't know it was a buffet place. We got excited when we saw the great variety of food on display as we were lead to our table.
The place was packed with hungry customers ogling at the spread of Japanese food at the buffet area. The seats at Kuishin Bo was either trying to create the Japanese dining feel or its purpose is to hurry people to eat and leave, as its not at all comfortable for prolong sitting. It kinda makes it hard to truely enjoy the food. It's also pretty hard to browse and take food from the buffet area as a part of it has only a narrow lane. Not possible for 3 people to past at one time. (Imagine 1 standing to take food, 2 trying to walk in the opposite directions. Not possible.)
As mentioned by the others above, the food to some is good but some feels that its average. For me, I find some of the food not bad. My favorite are the teppanyaki wayu beef and the alaskan crab legs which are hugeeee! The desserts were pretty good too. Especially the chocolate eclair (hidden in a mini fridge near the drink machine).
One thing unique about Kuishin bo is the specials that only first 20/30 diners who queued when the announcement came on will get. The announcement comes after a Kuishin bo jingle that some find irritating while the others find it refreshing and catchy. We managed to get a serving of a special dessert that's wrapped in egg crepe.
Ladies, if you're planning to go, go on a Tuesday as it's ladies night. You get special price for dinner. I'll probably go back again on a Tuesday with my girlfriends for more beef and crabs!
On a day where I am alone, I like to find a quiet and nice place to relax, read a book and fill my tummy. For a long time, I'd not been to the library, so I decided to drop by on a Sunday afternoon.
I settled at Cafe Galilee inside Sengkang Library with a book and ordered some food. With my failing memory, I can't recall the name of the drink and food I ordered! But the experience is still fresh in my mind.
The drink ordered was refreshing, especially for a hot day. Its blended fruit juice with wheatgrass. Seems healthy to me. Haha!
I ordered the BBQ sauce chicken chop hoping to fill my tummy. There wasn't any photo to refer to when I ordered at the cashier. But the staff described to me that it'll come with pasta and bread. So I presumed it'll be not bad. When it was served, I was quite disappointed. The piece of chicken was a tad small, and the pasta and bread was kinda sad to look at. (Refer to picture)
The sauce on the chicken was overpowering and the taste of chicken was totally lost in it. The pasta and its sauce was cold when served. The bread seemed to have been left out for awhile, its cold, tough to bite and the cheese was blunt.
Could have been alot better if they'd heated up the pasta sauce and bread before serving.
It was a great lunch outing and boy the food! If not for the bright bright sun from out the window, it might seem like we were having a dinner feast! Ha!
The spread was good. But there's two item that I enjoyed most! And both are prawns!
The first prawn dish was an add on to the set menu ordered. This is one of their signature dish, the Wasabi Prawn balls. The wasabi prawn wasn't powerful enough. It tasted more like salad prawn with all the fruits (honeydew, dragonfruit bits and strawberries) that came with it. Nevertheless, it was nice and easy to eat too. (No need to peel the shell mah! Haha!) Give me this dish alone and I'll be happy to eat it with a bowl of rice.
The next one was from the set menu, not sure about the name, but it seems like cereal butter prawn. (Picture) Before the prawn was served, waiter brought a bowl of lemon water and everyone started discussing whether the ladies or the men will be doing the peeling. Haha! Everyone sighed a sign of relief when the prawn was served. The prawn was big and fragrant. The mixed of dried chilli, curry leaves and dried shrimp makes the whole dish very flavorful and yummy. Enjoyed it!
This place had been hidden from my view since I first stepped foot on Serangoon Circle, until I saw the reviews here. The shop front looks rather run down and the signboard outside was too old for anyone to take notice of its existence. The windows were covered with white lace curtains, and if you don't take notice of the signboard, most probably you'll miss them too.
When I first stepped into the restaurant, I was amazed at how they managed to continue in such a retro unit. It looks as if you're dining in a run-down 70s restaurant. Even the staff there are retro.
Not knowing what to order, we ordered the set lunches. There were 2 types of pricing, one at $7 and the other above $12. We each ordered one from each of the menu. He got himself the grilled fish and chips set lunch that comes with dessert and drink. I ordered the pepper steak set that comes with soup of the day, ice cream and drink. (The drink served was in kiddo size. Luck they serve ice water too.)
When the soup was served, I knew we made a wrong choice for lunch. The soup was too diluted and it tasted more like water than thick soup.
My steak was served first. The serving was acceptable but the taste just didn't quite meet my expectation. The two other steakhouses around Serangoon Circle. Next came the fish and chips. Oh boy, was my boyfriend disappointed. One word to describe it - tasteless.
The only thing that somehow surprised us was the dessert that came with the cheaper set lunch. It's their own version of muah chee with coconut. Usually muah chee is eaten with chopped peanuts and sugar. So it's quite interesting to taste it with coconut instead.
I'm probably not going to return. There's just too many choices available around the area.

I've to agree with HisFoodBlog that EN Japanese Dining Bar is one of the best I'd been to by far. Serving the freshest sashimi and to-drool-for authentic cuisine.
This was the first time I tried the Beef Carpaccio. At first sight, I didn't dare touch it. But since its ordered, I just went ahead and dared myself. After the first slice of beef, I wanted more! It was thinly sliced and blended well with the seasoning on the beef. Although a tad too saltish, but still great one to devour on.
As the dishes ordered were more or less those recommended above by HisFoodBlog, I shall just share one more, which is another surprisingly yummilicious one.
The Unagi Fried Rice is most probably the only thing I will order if I should be going back there again. (Cos the price tag there is just not friendly enough for my thin wallet.) The fried rice is very fragrant and the rice grain is the real good stuff. Unlike the usual fried rice, I had at other Jap place, this is solid and slightly chewy too. The Unagi although cut to rather tiny pieces, I could still feel it when I chew on the mouthful of rice and unagi.
Great place to go for good quality Jap food.
(*Please take note that EN Jap dining bar is located along M.Sultan road, before reaching the left turn at Obar. Thanks to the incomplete directions given, when I was there, I couldn't find it within UE Square building. :S)
Beauty, body and hair care at its cheapest! This is the place to go for cheap cheap toiletries, beauty products, hair and body products and even perfumes.
Located in the heart of Ang Mo Kio, you might missed this gem as its hidden among the rows of shops along the main shopping lanes. The only thing that might help make it stand out is the pink sign board and lots of bottled shampoos neatly arranged outside of the shop.
The shop carries most of the brands, such as Loreal, Biore, SK2, and many others. But their prices are the most competitive. Giving the bigger pharmacies and shops a chase for their money.
For instance, the Loreal Facial gel and toner I bought. Usual price for the gel is $6 and the toner is around 10 . At Pink Beauty, the gel cost $4.50 and the toner cost only $6.20! I also bought 2 tubes of Biore Facial Scrub. U.P. $6 at NTUC and Watsons. But at Pink Beauty, its only $2.10! REAL Cheap right?
So now you know where to go for your beauty products ya? ;)

I managed to try 2 of their current offerings... the Unagi Pasta and the Tako Pasta.
Unagi Pasta ($10.90) - pasta choice Fettucini This is cooked with Unagi (Eel), onions and lightly spiced up with chilli padi, top with seaweed flakes. If you're a fan of unagi and spicy pasta, this one is a die-die-must-try pasta! The Unagi pasta is flavorful and spiced up to the right level. After one mouthful of it, you'll just want to have more.
Tako Pasta ($10.90) - pasta choice Penne Octopus and garlic tossed in olive oil, drizzled with tonkatsu sauce and Japanese mayo topped with bonito flakes. This one is for the Tako lovers! (Like me!) First look at the serving, it reminded me of those tako balls you can get almost everywhere, but instead this is served with pasta. They are very generous with the amount of tako used. The fragrance is enough to tempt any hungry soul when you mixed the entire bowl of pasta, tako, sauces and bonito flakes.
Between the two, although I'm a tako lover, I would order the Unagi Pasta again the next time I go. Cause its spicy and more flavorful. Anyone wants to join me for Pastamania when they launch the new menu with the Japanese pizzas? :P
Craving for Japanese food? Why not give Shokudo a try? But be prepared to be stuck with too many choices!

Thanks for the reviews here, I already know what to expect at the entrance. And I quickly got into my adventurous mode the moment I stepped in. *haha!*
The first impression I got was Wow! So big! It's about the size of the old Marche at Heeren. But cos this place is done up in a Japanese kind of style with minimum decorations around the place, it seems slightly more spacious than the old Marche. As it was a weekday, there wasn't much crowd when I went. With many tables available, I skipped the "Reserve table" part and went on to find food.
After going around the place, I kinda got lost of my orientation. (Perhaps I was too hungry then.) Good thing I didn't place my "Reservation token" at any of the tables, cos I would most probably forget which section it was. The place is divided into various themes so customers can decided where is more suitable for the mood they're in. (This is not quite possible if you go on a crowded period thou.)
As I was alone, and having limited cash with me, I opted for something friendly for my wallet and tummy. I bought a "Hakodate" Seafood Cheese Pizza ($8.80) and a glass of japanese orange peel drink ($price forgotten). The pizza is made fresh upon ordering, so I settled down with my drink to enjoy the peacefulness during that time. There was soft music playing in background and I was totally relaxed and enjoying my time alone after a long day of meetings.
The pizza was different from the one we usually see. This was served in a rectangular wooden pan and the pizza crust was thin and crispy. There were plentiful of toppings and one bite into the pizza will make you want to have more. The pizza might not look big nor sufficient for the hungry people, but if you're having it alone, its fills just right the right amount in one's tummy. Due to its thin crust, you'll not feel "sick" of the pizza.

Had eaten many times at this place but had never gt down to write a short review abt this place. Basically this is a normal coffeeshop which sells Tze Char. What I like about this place is that the staff are friendly and the food is great. In addition, the serving of the food is pretty fast as well as they have three cooks in the kitchen handling all the orders. As such, one does not need to wait for ong before your food is served piping hot.
Some of their dishes included black pepper beef on a hot plate, kang kong with cuttlefish, jellyfish salad, prawn paste chicken, pineapple rice, thai hor fun and many more.
However, this place can be a bit small and is always packed during peak periods. Therefore, you might want to consider going there before the peak periods start at the usual meal timings. In addition, I have also observed that many foreigners patronise there as well and some seem to be regulars there too, form the way they interact with the staff.
This further strengthens the fact that this place not only appeals to locals but to foreigners as well.
As for the pricing, it ain't that expensive either, for two ppl ordering 4 dishes and a couple of drinks, the bill is arnd $30-40, depending on the quantity and type of dishes that you order. But rest assured that you get your money's worth.
Gave this place a try after my gf and her frens had tried it abt a week ago. Had passed by this place several times in the past but had never really taken a second look at it. As my gf said it was nice, I decided to check it out with her.
Upon stepping into the restaurant, the ambience was nice and authentic Japanese looking. The staff were friendly and the place was not too crowded. We gt our elves seated comfortably before getting about ordering our food. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the place specialises in serving up the premium Wangyu beef. However, the price was really quite steep adn as such , we deicded to give it a miss. Instead, we went for the more affordable meats such as beef tongue, beef intestines, p-toro, chicken and some vegetables.
Like waht Polarbear had mentioned in his review, the concept of this place is similar to that of Seoul Garden, whereby the food is served raw and you get to cook it over a hot charcoal stove. And I definitely like the fact that the charcoal ain't smoky and does not leave a smell on your clothes that lingers on even after you left the place.
Another plus point is that the staff are very attentive and will assist you in changing the wire gauze whenever you request for it. As such, you will not find that your meat becomes charred easily due to the residue of the soot. This no doubts enhances the platability of the food. Besides that, the staff were also very forthcoming to check if you need any assistance in cooking your food. To me I feel that this in indeed quality service.
Lastly, to finish off the meal, we orderd a single serving of macha ice-cream, which was smooth and not too sweet ( for ppl who do not have a sweet tooth). All in all, I would say that the meal was good but the price may be slightly steep ($120 for 2 ppl). But I do feel that the quality of the food and the staff do deserve such a price tag, which is more than worthwhile paying for

Lastly, to finish off the meal, we orderd a single serving of macha ice-cream, which was smooth and not too sweet ( for ppl who do not have a sweet tooth). All in all, I would say that the meal was good but the price may be slightly steep ($120 for 2 ppl). But I do feel that the quality of the food and the staff do deserve such a price tag, which is more than worthwhile paying for
