    This used to my family's favorite place for dinner or supper. For me, I can eat it everyday and will never get tired of it!

    Alishan serves delicious Taiwan porridge and the wide variety of dishes just make eating porridge so much more delicious and satisfying. There are 2 types of porridge for selection, the normal plain one and the sweet potato porridge. Both at the same price - just 50cents. And the dishes price ranges from $1.50 to $12 each.

    My usual order includes the steamed sotong and the chai poh egg. The steamed sotong is chewy and fresh. Dipped it into the accompanying sweet sauce and eat it together with a spoonful of porridge. Simply divine! (Just the thought of it makes my mouth water! And I'm craving for it now!)

    And then there's the Chai Poh Egg. Just look at the size of the egg! It comes like a huge and thick pancake filled with chai poh and spring onion. The outside is slightly crispy and the inside is soft. Every bite of the egg gives you the crunch from the chai poh. Loveeee it!

    With so many dishes for you to choose from, one bowl of porridge is never enough! My record was 4 bowls of piping hot sweet potato porridge. Can you beat that? Heee.

    Another one to the list.

    I know everyone's getting a little tired reading about donuts, but hey, the fire is still burning (thou not as strong) for all the donut factories in Singapore.

    I tried Missy Donut once, but it was left with only one flavor, which I can't remember. So today I bought some home again to try, since there wasn't a queue when I was there. The selection of donuts aren't as many as some others, but I managed to pick 5 that hopefully will manage to trigger my tastebud.

    One bite into the glazed donut ($1.10) and immediately I had to gulp down water to ease the sweetness. The layer of sugar onto was too heavy and the sugar content was too high. The dough was quite good but a little to the oily side.

    My mum had the nutty choc ($1.20) one and she also said it was too sweet. But lucky for her, the nuts managed to balance the sweetness alittle for her.

    Haven't tried to other flavors yet, but judging from the glazed one, which was supposed to be the basic donut, I'm not having a good feeling about the rest.

    I wanted to try their desserts ever since I saw their poster out at Plaza Singapura. But I kept forgetting about this place when I'm there. But today, I remembered!

    Went shopping with Mum at Plaza Singapura and I needed a break so I brought us to Aji Tei for desserts. The display of plastic dishes and yummy looking photos of their menu lured me in fast and furious.

    As we weren't that hungry, we just ordered a dessert sampler, fried tofu and chicken skewer. The dessert came first, it looked different from the photo. There were a little too much starch (muah chee) in the 3 samplers. The green tea ice-cream on cornflakes saved this sampler. It was our first time having cornflakes with ice-cream. And we love the blend of the two.

    The felt tofu felt very crispy when it was served. I could hear the crunch of the exterior when I moved it with the chopsticks. But the excitement of this dish faded the moment I tasted it. The tofu was tasteless and the sauce that came with it didn't quite help.

    And then the chicken came. Didn't get to taste the original taste as my mum sprinkled chilli powder over it before I can take a photo. The chicken (with chili powder) was pretty alright. Not fantastic but better than the fried tofu.

    For a die-hard Japanese resturants fan, I continue my search for better ones to add to my list. This one for sure, is not going to be listed in my favorite list.

    These two characters are my bf's and my favorite! Every night we would want to listen to them just to hear what they have to say. I miss their show. Hope they'll be doing a new one soon.

    A special evening at Humble House.

    It was their 5th birthday and together with couple of Yebbers, we joined in the celebration last night. On this special evening, the place was transformed to a stylish cocktail environment where tables were set-up around the restaurant with their chefs and service staff serving up some of their best modern Chinese cuisine.

    Without a doubt, My Humble House is the place to go for their chic and modern dining atmosphere. Experience the art of dining at My Humble House. One thing that we agreed in unison was the beauty of the decor and uniqueness of cutlery used.

    The menu served that night includes Lobster Popiah, Foie-grass, Scallops, Wagyu Beef, Peking Duck, Fried Chicken Rice and tantalizing selection of desserts. There were also wine tasting tables spread across the room with 18 different varieties of old & new world wines.

    Personally, my favorite from that night were the Peking Duck, Wagyu Beef and the Fried Chicken Rice. Let me elaborate a little about the Fried Chicken Rice...

    Served in miniature cups, this is not just any usual chicken rice nor how the name suggested. When one hears the dish Fried Chicken Rice, one will imagine having crunch chicken bits with steamed chicken rice. However, their version was the total opposite. With the chicken rice fried and topped with steamed shredded chicken. And before you eat, they add in the chicken soup. The combination was unique and out of the norm. Bite into the spoonful of rice with soup, and feel the crispiness of the chicken rice.

    Overall the food from the night was average. This may be due to the buffet style dinner, mass production of food, and hence the quality of the food is not up to their usual standard. Perhaps it'll be much better to go dine and try the regular menu. But then, that'll also mean paying a lot more for that.

    This is one site that all book lovers should join. Find books in BookJetty and it'll search through Amazon for details and listing of the books that matches your query. The most exciting thing is the integration of the search of the books in National Library too!! Yes! Our dear NLB! It'll tell you where you'll be able to find the book and whether or not its on loan and if you need the list of libraries with the book, you can even send a SMS to yourself so that you don't have to write it down on paper.

    I've not been reading for long long long long time. (Apart from reading in Yebber and the other blogs I read.) But now with BookJetty, I might just pick up reading again! So loving the feature of BookJetty! Go try it to see it yourself!

    Value for money buffet...

    After a whole day without food, we went to Sakura for buffet dinner. Each pax $28 7%gst on weekends and $26 7%gst on weekdays. Price wise, its considered one of the cheapest buffet around. Serving quite a wide spread of Japanese food (sushi, sashimi, tempura, tepanyaki etc), Dim Sum, Chinese cooked food and yummy cakes.

    We've been there many times for their high-tea buffet which consists of just sushi and sashimi. This was our first for their dinner. And we were satisfied with the entire experience. The food is good (not very good), taste wise still alright (after eating that much, the taste just blended) and the choices were alright for the price.

    Can take a peep at what they serve in the photos I've uploaded. These are just 1/3 of what they have there.

    Was at Millenia Walk with two girlfriends and I wanted to try out Abof, but the price was alittle high for a casual dinner. So we went to Bab Noodle. Although the name suggested that they serves noodle, but I saw my rice on the menu. To change the rice to noodles is an additional $2. Shouldn't they call it Bab Rice then?

    Anyway, the 3 of us ordered 2 starters to share and a main each with iced lychee tea for all of us. There were 3 lady staff at work. And as it was late already, the place was rather empty. We were given all the attention we needed. So this was great. Except for my missing straw in my drink, and the fallen spoon from my table. Other than that, the service was great.

    Now the food... the starters - Pidan with cold tofu and Seafood tofu were great! Love the taste. As for the main, I was contemplating between the Sukiyaki Beef Set and the Stew Beef with Karrage Chicken Set. I asked the lady who took our order which she recommends, and Sukiyaki was her choice. So I gave that a try. The serving was rather big for me. I was too full only half way through the set. But then the main problem came when I reached home couple of hours later... yap... had a "blasting" time in the loo... perhaps its the beef. As there were some that I thought looked weird. Or again, might be due to the combo of food I had for dinner. Lucky for me, I feel better now after the blasting.

    Total spent by the 3 of us was $58.40.

    For the service and attention, I give 2 stars and for the value-for-money set meals I'm giving another. Not going to rate the food as my experience was probably uncalled for.

    'Sh... its a secret..."

    Secrets at Eleven is a relaxing and very nice place to get your pretty nails. Located on the second level (above Happy Daze). The decor is simple and welcoming. I had my meni done at their balcony. Imagine, relaxing on a big arm chair, with open view of the happenings below me and the friendliest manicurist. 2 other friends can sit next to you by the balcony and together have your nails done up, drink a cup of nice warm tea and catch-up with the latest happenings in life.

    The manicurists know their products very well and their service and skill is good. When come to choosing colors for the nails, they'll try on every color you want to see on each of your nails so that you can see exactly how it looks like on your hands. (I ended up with 10 different color on my fingers!) This is great cos you'll not regret only after all the nails were painted. They wouldn't rush you and they'll be more than glad to try on as many colors as you want so that you're happy with the decision.

    For just $23 for a classic mani and $33 for a classic pedi, Secrets at Eleven is the place to go with your girlfriends!

    I'm loving every bits of this new magazine! Saw this new magazine at the newsstand and was attracted by its name - Smitten. Curious to know what's it about, I picked it up and glance through the cover and saw that this copy is their debut issue and topics looks pretty interesting.

    Project Smitten is the name of the magazine. (Smitten reminds me of kitten. Small, cute, playful, fun, pretty and mischievous!)

    Flipping through the pages of Smitten and I'm greeted by the faces behind Smitten. In Smitten picks, the key ladies in Smitten share they favorite picks for the month. This gives me, as a reader, feel closer to the magazine as I'm able to match the names to faces. Loving this!

    Every page you flip to, you'll find the trendiest and uber stylish fashion. Best of all, they show you exactly where you can get them! Even the cute little puppies.

    Another section I love is the spy section - spy now and smitten spy. You'll be able to find rare finds and hidden treasures locally, internationally and in the www in these sections.

    Was delighted to have received my first subscribed delivery from Project Smitten (Jan/Feb08) this morning at my doorstep. Since I’m at my CNY shopping mood, I quickly flipped the pages and see what they’ve in store for us. Spotted a “Hot Buy” of a bag organiser from M)phosis on page 55 of this issue and wanted to get one for myself. Went shopping at Bugis Junction and stopped by M)phosis to ask if they’ve stock for it. Looks like, I’m not the first who was there to ask about this bag.

    The salesgirl asked which magazine I saw this bag in and told me that the bag I was looking for was from months ago! They no longer carry it! I asked if they’ll be bringing in more, she said it depends.

    I was quite upset that this thing happened. Why does a fashion magazine publish a product that was already not on sale? I was very pleased with their content once. But after this incident, and many other which I’d heard (from their facebook group), I guess they’ve got to improve a lot more to gain back the trust from existing subscribers and attract new ones.

    Dropping my 5 stars rating to 3.
