Oh my god. Do you know how crowded it is in Tampines Mall. I am just waiting for the new shopping mall / office tower to open on the other side of the MRT station, so that it will ease the crowd at this side of the MRT station.
They try to add more escalators to the basement and to 2nd floor, but there is still too many people around. And, the basement is so full of small stores that I sometimes hope I can fly and not need to slowly walk with the crowd to get to the NTUC Fairprice right inside.
Now, I prefer to go Century Square for the food at the basement. It is a torture just trying to get upstairs to the restaurants at Tampines Mall.
I went to pick up my Christmas Turkey and sushi from this outlet, thinking that it is nearer to home. But I regreted.
I didn't want to spend $ on taxi, since I chose Giant for the fact that its turkey and sushi is cheap. But I didn't thought that they would give me such a badly designed cupboard container for the turkey: the handle got torn due to the pressure and I had to hug the whole container like a baby. And the side also gave way, causing my sausage-shaped turkey filling pack to roll and fall onto the floor. And the free bus was so crowded that my hands nearly break from "carrying the baby". Plus a tray of sushi on top. Luckily an auntie asked her "baby" (a 5 year old boy) to give way to my "baby". Else I can't imagine how I survive the bus ride.
Thinking back, I don't understand why would they want to have a Giant there? I know a lot of people drive to Giant for their big groceries shopping, but I don't find a lot of things cheaper than NTUC. And why did the others without cars, also go all the way to bring back such heavy groceries (like me) other than for the real-cheap turkey and sushi?
And I promise myself not to get conned into going there again. Unless I get a car, else I rather not go to Giant in the long-queue bus rides.
edenstrausssaid: Our flat is within walking distance fr Giant but even then, we find it very out of the way as compared to NTUC West Plaza; I visit maybe once in 3-4 months :P 22 Nov 2008 at 1:45 pm
edenstrausssaid: Hang on, didn't they offer U a plastic carrier for the turkey? Yeah I do agree not all the items fr Giant R quite expensive. I only buy what NTUC doesn't have fr Giant. 22 Nov 2008 at 1:48 pm

I wouldn't say their price is the cheapest, since they do not offer inhouse credit cards like Best Denki (which still give you linkpoints on top) (although they have points reward system where the redemption products are not very fantastic at the lower points).
But I guess it is the creditability and the availability of products, as compared to those smaller stores.
I use to go to the Tampines branch before it closed and that has more things, including printers. The one now at Eastpoint has lesser of these PC related, but more of the TV monitors and the cameras).
But their software offers member's price, so still worth going.

Something lacking in the McDelivery is that they do not offer any credit card discounts and they also do not have much bulk set meals, like those in KFC. I thought if one order McDelivery, there is higher chance that it is for families and you should give more discounts for it.
But I think I will still go for it, for one of those dinners at work, since they can delivery fast and on time, rather than KFC or pizza hut where they sometimes quote 1 to 2 hours. Just a pity not many of my colleagues like burger for dinners, so we hardly order.
I like going Centrepoint Robinson because they often have toiletries and health supprements promotion. Even if they do not have, you can also pop over to nearby John Little for toiletries or to nearby Marks and Spencer for foodstuff (cookies, small bottle red wines etc).
Recently after their revamp, I went upstairs and find more beds/pillows/blankets than usual. But strange is that they do not have Tempur.
But I find the escalator confusing. And the lift seems to be in the wrong location, I wonder how they ensure no shoplifter just take the things and go down the lift?
