I went to the place to try out the spicy Fish and Chips. Thanks to DBS, I get to order the Fish and Chips at 1-for-1 offer.

It cost $13.90 for one set.

The spicy Fish and Chips is just like normal Fish and Chips, with the exception of spice powder scattered on top of the fish.

You get to choose either buttered rice or Chips to go with the Fish. I like the rice version, as one can get sick of the fries after stomaching quite a few.

I like the freshness of their Fish, but I realised that there is no Quality Control on the Fish they fry, as the next time I visit the same place for the same dish, my fish tasted super duper oily.

They serve cold water directly from the tap, and didn't bother to hide their act.

Meanwhile, their service crew are generally quite polite and fast on topping up water.

If you are one who prefers quiet dining place, perhaps you can try visiting the place 9pm onwards, where most patrons have left.

Getting sick of eating at Changi Airport Kopitiam and staff canteens, we went to this small express cafe for meals.

We got one set meal, which comes with a cold drink/coffee/tea of your choice, a slice of cake of the day, and a main dish.

The cake I ate happen to be a walnut cake. Not bad, not too dry (some cakes are so dry that you tend to need lots of water after eating).

There are a range of main courses for you to choice from. Prices range from $4 to $6. The rice sets are quite nice, not too much MSG, highly recommended if you are sick of normal mixed rice vege sets.

They clean their tables frequently, after every patron leave the place, so no worries about having to clear tables of used plates yourself.

Typical Western food items, but prepared in an unique way, as you see Chinese vege served instead of salad.

I have tried BBQ Honey Chicken ($5.50), and it is quite tasty. Not oily too.

For 50cents, you can get mushrooms as extra item on your plate.

I find their steak not very appealing, very tough to chew on.

If you are at a lost of what to do, choose Mixed Grilled set where you get to eat lamb and pork.

The place is generally not that crowded, and you don't have to worry about having not enough seats or waiting for a long time before getting to eat.

        Recommended for western food lovers.

I like the Fish and Chips there. Less than $10 and you get a decent plate of it.

Their mushroom soup is super tasty. Not like ordinary Campbell's soup. It is served with a slice of garlic bread too.

Next to recommend is their spring roll. Not to oily.

Cold water is on the house.

Generally, Hob nob is a great place to go if you are not in a large group. Beware, better to make reservations when visiting during weekends.

It is a small shop turned into a cafe place. Lady boss is very friendly. My friend was having gastric, and she is kind to give all sorts of advice when dining.

There is a TV set screening ChannelNewsAsia, while in the background there is music from Class 95 radio.

They serve cakes and alcohol too, so great to chill out over there during the weekends!

Although this restaurant is hiding up one of the buildings along Shenton Way, we prefer this Chinese restaurant rather than those in Far East Square. We tried before their 4-pax set lunches, as well as the ala-carte dishes. And of course, there’s this vegetarian fried rice which we usually ordered, as one of our colleague is a non-meat eater. Their dim sum dishes as well as the Beijing duck, also kept us happy.

For a Tung Luk restaurant, the service at this outlet is not really consistent. There’s this once when we only had 4 pax and the waiter (prob captain level) attentively recommend to us the set lunches available. And there’s this other time when we had 2 tables, but we could hardly find any waiter around us during the meal, to check out on our outstanding orders (which was taking very long to come out). And even when we managed to catch the attention of someone who looks captain level, she tried to signal her staff to attend to us, but of course, it took quite a while for the staff to finally come to us. That meal does however end up pleasantly, with the staff packing our unfinished chee zhun fan in a box for takeaway.
