i heard of my friend telling me about this shop thats sells beads, sequins and the crystals used in manicures, as introduced by a popular blogger in singapore.

thinking of stocking up some crystals for mani/pedicure purposes and not to be ripped off by some beauty parlour, i specifically made a trip down to arab street just to get my stuff.

its located at a place so difficult to find, even till now i have no idea how exactly to get there. but it seems like the blogger's 'advertisement' have brought many there as it was quite packed when i reach there.

indeed they have a super wide variety of decorative items but honestly i think they are pretty expensive. the manicure crystals in a pack of 122 (but who exactly go n count?) cost about $8-$10. even though i had purchased alot that day, coz i need to buy my friend's share too, the stubborn owner only gave me $1 discount per packet, even though i bought like 30 packets?
and when i overheard, its like the standard discount rate to be given.

nevertheless, its still one of the cheapest store around that area. the rest of the similar shops gave me a stare when i ask for discount.

however i heard chinatown is cheaper??

Very homely decorated shop with bears ranging from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars (which of course for collectors)

I knew that Sasha'a Bear had a branch in suntec city but after it closed down ive not heard of it anymore. Till during my visit at Arab St the owner told me they are the only branch left.

the teddy bears are pretty classic and adorable. the owner was very friendly and did not show any displeasure when i told her i was merely browsing.

she initiated to give me the history of the shop, saying its a local brand and that they carry hundreds of different teddy bears. or should i generally say they carry many 'oh-so-cute' plush toys.

they have plushies like chicken and ducks with cute and localised name like chi chi and cha cha. and furthermore, by touching their fur of the bears, you can tell that they are really of good quality. reasonable pricing too.

during stock clearout, they have really adorable bears selling at less than $10.

for a classical teddy bear shop, sasha's may be a good place to go to.

this is a very 'arabian feeling' shop that sells many beautiful perfume bottles, which was the reason that attracted me in.

they have beautiful glass perfume bottles which ranges from $20 to a few hundred dollars. even though some of the prices seems pretty reasonable, but knowing that these bottles are actually from egypt and its dirt cheap there, i know the shop is actually over charging. well rentals etc, i dont blame them. but knowing the actual price made me think twice.

they also have a wide variety of essential oils and perfumes which you can tell them what kinda smell you'll like your perfume to be and they can blend it for you.

they have some of their unique blends ready made which are actually quite nice.

id recommend this shop to collectors of perfume bottles or people who will like a personal scent, its actually a shop worth going to. oh yah, you can ask for discount, please remember :)

I am sure teddy bear customisation is nothing new in singapore anymore.

however, after visiting the cool bear workstation, i am actually quite impressed by the ideas.

firstly, you can choose any bear that starts from $39.90, abit expensive but well, girls?

secondly you can choose how 'tough' you want the teddy bear to be, which means how much cotton do you want to stuff inside.

after which, you can write a wish on a piece of heartshaped clothe, which symbolize the heart of the bear, to be stuff into the bear's body. you can also stuff a pre-recorded device thingy so when you hug the bear, there'll be a msg or a song.

fourthly, choose the clothings which average prices are about $20. they have a pretty wide variety with cute themes like nurses, fireman and even bikinis! you can even customized the clothes to be identical to what you're wearing.

lastly, a customized certificate will be given to act as an ID for the bear. you have to decide the name, gender etc.

i was really tempted to make a bear myself. but after calculation it should reach about $100.

its really cool, and i think it'll definitely make a good anniversary present. just that i wont buy one without occasion :)

this shop in heeren sells clothings and accessories from miss sixty and energie.

knowing their prices are quite high, i normally do not visit the shop. but there was once, me and my boyfriend made an exception.

there was practically nobody inside but only the two sales person.

the shop carries a wide range of energie products but only minimal from miss sixty.

we were greeted by this stylish metrosexual guy who was very smiley and informative. we felt welcome :)

as a girl, id say that SOME of energie's products are really quite unique, so does the price too :P

the salesman chit chatted with us and relating the chats with some intention of promoting the items, very clever indeed.

he prompted us to try their stuff and frankly, his tactics worked. i bought a top that cost $240 and my boyfriend bought a pair of sandal for $100 plus.

the salesman gave us a catalogue each, related magazines and sample vials of miss sixty's perfume. till now i still wonder why would i spend $200 on a top, coz it really quite normal. but my boyfriend love his sandals.

people who go to the shop please beware, coz the salesman is really good at selling haha.

    Nicnic Nicnic says:

Happened to drive past joo seng road and saw many warehouses for furniture.

i went to this crawford italia which has a big showroom. remembering i saw the name somewhere, i think it should be reputable.

i was served by this old man who followed me everywhere. he seems really nice and somehow he gained my trust right from the start.

however, i remembered that when i was shopping for my wardrobe, he told me one of them came with a mirror attached inside.

to cut long story short, when i made my purchase, the wardrobe and a bed, i asked again about the mirror and he say 'oh no la, that one no mirror, only some others have'

obviously he contridicted his words while promoting to me. but thinking that hes old n stuff, i didnt pursue the matter. its just a mirror anyway.

after i got my furniture, in less than a month, the side of the bed broke. which means there'll be a dent. but its covered by the leather so i cant fix it anyway.

so i went back to the shop and saw the same old man. i explained to him my situation and ask if i can have it fixed. he told me he'll check for me and ask me for some details of my purchase. he told me he'll call me back and not to worry.

few weeks passed, and i still didnt get any call from him. so i called and he told me hes still checking. fine, i wait again.

another few weeks have passed, i was out of patience and went back to the shop and saw the same old man again.

when i asked for the status, he had to write down all the details again, even when ive told him on the phone many times.

he said the same old thing - he'll check with the office and that it shouldnt be a problem.

5 months have passed. my bed still has a dent. alright, im stupid

This is a shop i believe have branches over the neighbourhoods in singapore.

i was eyeing on this guess watch selling at their branch at ang mo kio hub. i asked for the price and they said something like $240. when i asked for discount, they quote me $220. i told them id consider and left.

days later, when i decided to purchase the watch, being served by the same saleman who couldnt remember me then, quote me $230. i was telling him i just came some days before and was being offered a cheaper price.

    'price hike la...' he said.

as i further ask for the original $230 quoted, he told me he need to check with his boss. over the phone, the boss said no and i say maybe i can try to pursuade the boss.

i told him of the whole inccident, and said i really like the watch and ask him to sell it to me at the price offered days ago. in his chinese accented english, he said no. i asked why will the price increase in mere few days.

    his answer?

    'dont buy loh'

    enough said.

A new shop i found in the Esplanade.

Its like a natural products based shop. you could smell its aromatherapy from far.

a very nice and cosy shop with two friendly owners. i was welcomed with a small immediately when i stepped into the shop.

i was looking at its products and the owner, by the name of kenneth, came over to introduce the products, and himself! haha.

i could tell that kenneth knows his products very well and equipted wide knowledge on aromatherapy. he promoted to me with his products with much details given and even told me there were certain products not suitable for me when i showed interest. he was enthusiastic and definitely not pushy and furthermore very polite.

they have a wide range of natural skin care and some very beautiful burners for essential oils. all thanks to his friendliness and helpfulness, he made me burn a big hole in my pocket. but a pleasant one :)

for people who are interested in natural skin care products, ill highly recommend the place. dont think that a guy doesnt know about women's stuff, the two guys do!

had a very bad experience at isetan tampines, even with their manager!

my friend and i dressed very casually and went to this reputable brand cosmetic counter waiting to be served by the salesgirl who was attending to someone else.

we waited for about 20mins when the salesgirl escort the customer to the cashier. finally when we thought it was our turn, the salesgirl came back to the counter, sat down and started doing her own things.

we were like 'hello???' and finally got her attention. i wondered if we were invisible for the past 30mins. she gave us a very 'tsk!' look and came over. and when we asked questions about the products, she wasnt promoting but was actually giving one or two words answers.

my friend was totally pissed and asked for the manager, which didnt seem to affect the salesgirl at all. we were then told to wait 'as the manager was out for lunch'.

we asked if there are other people whom we can talked to and after the salesgirl made the phonecall, she said no.

we went back about an hour later and FINALLY got a chance to speak to the manager who also gave us a fed up look. a young lady she was.

when we told her about the bad service the salesgirl was giving us, she just went 'ok' 'ok' 'ok' without apologising or give other response. furthermore, when we spoke to her, it was obvious her mind was not with us as she kept looking around.

my friend flared up and asked if she even care about the customer services provided under her care. and guess what? she flared up too! she raise her volumn and told us, 'our girl was just too busy serving her customers and most probably neglected you without knowing. its a really a small matter to not have noticed you since we have so many customers. ill ask her to apologise to you if that helps. i am really busy you know?' my friend got even more angry and in the end the manager said 'sorry mdm, if you're here to create trouble, ill have to ask the security to get you out of here'

speechless we were. now i know why the salesgirl didnt care, just because her manager didnt care too. didnt see us? we were standing there for almost 30mins right in front of the counter. is it because we were dressed in t-shirt n slippers that we deserve another kind of treatment? we're intending to shop and deserve certain respect. not being told by the manager what a busy woman she is. imagine a manager shouting at customers? its the first time i encounter this. and requesting for good services got us warning to be thrown out of the place? never am i going to step into the store anymore. its not as if i have no money to pay.

Ive heard of many stories about True Yoga.

Not my personal experience though. My friend also did mention that she was offered free coupons to try out their services.

she did not receive any inpolite comments though but she was saying that the person who served her was hard selling and somehow my friend got convinced to sign up.

i have no idea how much she spent but she said it was pretty expensive and the instructor that she went to the classes for gave her the roll eyes look when she couldnt achieve the yoga position being taught. and that made her feel awkward and refused to go for anymore sessions.

    there goes her money.
