What's brewing in Lido Cineplex? Nothing actually. One of the earliest cineplexes in Singapore. It has been some time since we walked into Lido for a movie. So when we walked into Lido 7, it felt as though we were transported back to the 1990s. Not a complement :)
The cinema emits a strange smell. We were wondering where the smell came from. When we sat down in our seats, it felt as though the seat was about to drop. The cushion was almost non existent...as though totally worn out. Only then did we realise that the smell could have come from the cushion (it was fabric...soft...too soft...like almost never washed). Good thing the lights were dim and were kept dim even after the show. Just wondered if the cushion was stained with human dna samples from active sweat glands over the years.... the collection of which gave out the arid smell.
Anyway it was the first time also after a long long time that someone's head blocked our view so that we had to watch the show between 2 heads...which seems pretty huge.
Anyway the show saved the day...and we vowed never to step into Lido 7 again...until the place is being renovated and upgraded.
Spacious and clean was our impression when we were here for a movie. Like what the other Yebbers mentioned, there is no need to assume a foetal position when you have to make room for latecomers who try to squeeze their way through to the seat in the middle of the row and in the process decorating the cinema with spilled popcorn.
The only problem was that the back rest was too upright and stiff. The seats do not recline, hence providing a much awkward viewing angle. Imagine seating in an upright position for 2-3 hours watching a movie....try to slouch and you will end up sitting with no back support.
Not our favourite cinema, but still better than Lido 7. That is another story.
To me, this Cinema is the most comfortable of all.
The seating are comfortable -
Wide leg room,
You dont have to worry about a really tall person seating infront of you. He wont block ya.
It would e great movie-ing experience there. You can shop or dine there before or after movie, many amentites available at VivoCity and Harbourfront Centre.
Book a tix before you go down okie?
Dont get disppointed if you cant get tix, esp on hot movies!

* Size available ranged from 6 to 16 (depends on which clothing)
* Prices generally affordable.
* Staffs are friendly to help.

Comments: The food taste pretty normal - not much of any special, but slightly salted. But i love their Clear soup. It tasted light and nice, you dont have to worry about those free supply of MSG issue). I think the Paste De WaRaKu is much better over there.

Comments: Once again, i dont really eat Seafood. But the Mussel still taste okie to me ( But i seemed so delicious to my mussel-craze eating mate, i tink if you like Mussel it should be delicious bah!) One thing i must credit, the service there is rather good. Supposingly, the ladyBoss was very attentive and friendly ( serve us sauces, plates and water without even us requesting!) She made me a pleasant dining experience. =)

Comments: Umm. Food there are kinda Norm(though they specialise in seafood, maybe its bcoz i dun fancy Seafood - But i like fish de leh!!). But the Mushroom cream Soup is awesome.
If you guys ever walked past this Pasta De WaRaKa Restaurant, bet you would somehow be attracted by the delicious looking of pasta "specimen" displayed outside.
Gosh. I am so so tempted to try. I dragged my boy down to Marina Square last Sunday and finally got my chance to dine there. Umm try to go-in around 5plus - Coz if you reached there after 6pm, chances of waiting / queue-in will be relatively High (most applicable to weekend!)
They have got a Menu of Pasta to Rice/Grains to SideDishes to Pizza to Drinks to Dessert. Many things to choose from! and we spent like 15mins browsing through the menu and still can decide and what to order.
And after another 5 mins of discussion, we decided on this..
- 1 Carbonara, the waraku style
- 1 Soup Based Pasta - Bacon and Vegetable
- 1 Prawn & Scallop Pizza
- 1 tiramisu wif banana wif vanilla ice-cream dessert (Umm. i forgot the whole name)
Waiting time is relatively short. And before the main course is served, We got a small serving of salad each ( All pasta are served wif a free small bowl of salad!). And the Salad taste awfully Nice!! The dressing makes the Veggie smooth to your throat and makes you crave for more! The dressing tasted a combination of Sweet, Salty and Sour - Very appetitizing. Even my boy commented tat the salad is delicious (Very amazing about that coz he nv eats raw veggie.) **So we actually checked out with the staffs on the dressing that they used and we were told that its called Black Vingarette - The Chef imported them from Japan. The staff is very helpful, he even show us the bottle of the vingarette.
We tried out on different type pasta. Mine is Tomato sauce and my boy's Cream sauce. And both are equally Nice!!
Mine is Soup-based Pasta(Tomato sauce), The soup is not too thick nor saltish , serving just nice and the noodle doesnt taste soft even soaking in soup for sometime. But its best served Hot!
My Boy's Carbonara, the waraku style, its the one wif Egg Yolk. Umm, i only tried a few mouthful. But this few mouthful is enough to satisfy my taste bud. Coz the cream sauce doesnt feel or taste too milky, in fact its delicious and small niceee ( i dont fancy cream sauce though!)
And afterwhich is our Prawn and Scallop Pizza. The serving size would be just nice for 2 person. The extreme Thin crust is coated with tartar sauce and some cheese, then baked till
crispy. Topped with fresh prawn and scallop. Not only does it taste nice, it looks nice too! Serve a slice with cheese and chilli powder. Guess you will popped in the second slice after you finish your first! *Slurpss.
Lastly would be our dessert. The tiramisu wif banana wif vanilla ice-cream dessert. Tiramisu plus ice-cream, very nice. Amazingly, it doesnt taste as sweet as i thought it would be.
We spent about S$60 for this dinner. Might be alittle pricey. But i feel that it definitely worth the money. Service is Great ( they respond pretty fast), Food is Superb, Ambience is conducive.
UNO Beef House is one of my favourite place for western food! I believe they are famous for their steaks, but since I'm no steak lover I can't give any steaky recommendations.
But their fish & chips and chicken chops are excellent! Portion is large and prices are reasonable (around $4.50 and above).
It helps that they are so near my home. :) Highly recommended if you happen to be free to drop by.
