I went to several Cafe cartel outlets and this was once of my best experiences.
I was there with my friend the other night, with a craving for pasta. As there was promotion for Citibank card holders, we were more than happy, walked in and choose a sofa seat for ourselves.
Their menu have been changed, with a few additions here and there. In the end, we ordered a plate of spaghetti each, and shared a fried platter. Although we didnt order a set, we were still offered free flow of bread. My friend and I were impressed with their service and friendly staff, as we were a tad troublesome, asking for more sauce, warm water, take-away etc etc.
We left satisfied, and happy. We will definitely be back!
Have not dealt with them before, but have read quite a number of negative reviews regarding them. I wouldnt buy from them in the first place as i do order clothes through my friend, as we spree directly from the tw supplier, which is definitely cheaper. But like some people, who are not patient enough to wait, they might be more willing to pay more.
I am very sure that they imported goods from tw, china or hk websites, and sold them off at a higher price. We have experiences in ordering from various tw auction sites, and have no problems, except for maybe a few colour mix up.
My point is, even overseas website allow exchange and products are not suppose to be inferior. The measurements on shoplah! are not as detailed as those on the taiwan websites. Together with the negative feedbacks provided, i personally wouldnt buy from them, when they cant deliver what they promise, despite a supposingly "shorter" waiting time.
This place serves good waffle, they have quite a wide selection of waffle dishes including burger waffle, fondue.
Their little corner is cosy with alot of customers' feedback notes on the wall, colourful.
Their prices are reasonable cheap. a small fondue cost only $15.90 with 5scopes of ice-creams, fruits and 1waffle and 1 drink. We tried their durain paste and maple honey waffle which comes with 1drinks each at $5..90 a set. Yummy,,, except dont expect v good durain.
Sorry forgot to take pics of the food, too yummy,, eat already then remb, so end up took some pics of the area.
Garibaldi, located along Purvis Street, is part of The Garibaldi Group of Restaurants helmed by award-winning Chef de Cuisine Roberto Galetti and his team. An Italian dinning place that provides a fine exemplar of contemporary, stylish and elegant dining experience all rolled into one, it came no surprise that the tantalising menu emphasises authentic Italian gastronomy primed with the best ingredients imported directly from Italy.
Stepped past the seemingly discreet sliding door and one will be ushered to an elegant bar that offers a great selection of wines by the glass and excellent cocktails – HFB can imagined this to be a perfect after-work to-be-seen setting for chic finance executives and lawyers to mingle at and network.
Make a left turn, and one will find the sombre interior of the small dining area coerce on you – call me unsophisticated but HFB certainly didn’t take to the air-of-pretentious atmosphere of the restaurant.
Also, having a row of smartly dress yet clueless service staff standing at the side of the passageway greeting and staring at HFB while he is seated with his peers add on to his already discomfort.
Kudos to the Complimentary Bread & Balsamic Vinaigrette, which was one of the better renditions that HFB had tried – certainly no one will complain if one goes for a second serving.
For the Antipasti e Insalate, HFB plumped for the Capesante Al Taleggio, or Grilled US Scallops with Porcini Mushroom and Truffled Taleggio Fondue ($25.00). Being a big fan of porcini mushroom, the sautéed nutty flavoured shrooms along with the intense creamy truffled Taleggio cheese was divine. However, HFB felt let down by the textured scallops that were slightly dry for his liking – he thought Sage, The Restaurant did a better job with their Seared Hokkaido Scallops with Normandy Sauce.
What’s an Italian dinner without pasta – the Linguine Al Granchio, or Linguine with Crab Meat and Vodka Sauce ($30.00) was commendable – nice aromatic vodka-infused tomato-cream sauce integrated with the flavours of the sea from the crab meat was simply blissful. However, the serving portion was definitely pathetic and HFB could easily wolfed down another plate with ease.
Dessert was Fondente Al Cioccolato, or simply Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Hazelnut Gelato and Raspberry Coulis ($18.00) – it didn’t wow me but definitely not the worse I have eaten. However, accolades must be given to the hazelnut gelato that everyone around the table seemed to enjoy it.
Overall, 4 of us choked a total of $428.00 including a bottle of wine and taxes. HFB felt that the pricey wine was a total rip-off and service although professional, lacked cordiality.
This is a very small outlet. Not v much of a choice for people in punggol area.
Due to area constraint, they dont have all the products, at times, they dont have the offer other outlets have too.
There are a few times, I saw offers at other outlets, thought they should have it too so I dont have to carry heavy bags shopping, but when I'm there, disappointing to say, they dont have the offer I want, they dont even know that other outlets got that offer.
Ok no much of a choice for us, unless go to compasspoint the nearest for punnggolians.
Tried a few times still v disappointing. Not only the ice not so good, even the hot dishes.
They abit too petty with sauces, we ordered 10dumplings for 3 to share with other hot dishes ordered as well, but we only got 1 sauce, when we asked for more, they look at the sauce on our table and hesitated.
I realised they put the ingredients in open container, right under the arms of the guys who do the ice and cashier.
The last time i was there, a couple complain of hair in their ice. Dont think will try again.
Plaza Singapura has changed alot over the years, I can still remember when my mum call it, Orchard Yaohan.
Now it's getting trendy and hip. Alot of new shops and facelift are done to match today's shopping mall. Though it's just one mall in that area, with cityhall and orchard along side, it's still attracting alot of people to shop and eat there.
I love the convenience coz of direct mrt in just 25mins. It has quite alot of changes lately, alot of new shops popping up. Sanrio, my favourite shop, thou I might not buy but just take a walk inside brings me back to childhood.
The new johnlittle was still abit small thou but seems neater and posh then before.
Awaiting for more new surprises when Im there again
Been there a few times, mainly having drinks in starbucks.
This place is so convenient just above clarke quay mrt, but still it seems to be so quiet, except for the shops at the front still in operation, alot of the tiny stalls at the top inside the mall, most of them are closed.
This is such a pity as the location is easy to access, why is not attracting enough people.Seems like the bustop got more people then the mall.
What a waste of space. sad to see yet another quiet mall.
This our every saturday place to go. I will swim and enjoy the jacuzzi while he goes for the gym and appear in the pool after 1hour.
Love the place, nice decorated and posh.
Think it's getting crowded nowadays, alot of non safra members dont mind paying more then public pool's fee to enjoy the pool and hot/cold shower facilities.
The bowling alley was a nice and cozy place to stay put if it's raining, I spent almost 2hours watching people bowl one day when it starts to rain and no swimming is allowed. Just abit too cold.
Walk around the place, you will love it as I do. Enjoy
