I was brought to Halia for a celebration. First to start with, it was a long walk from the entrance of botanical garden to the restaurant. But it's always gd to do some exercise before filling up your stomach withy food. Haha...
The restaurant is hidden in the Ginger Garden of Botanical Garden. There's both outdoor and indoor tables available. For a cool & rainy evening, it is ideal to take the outdoor seats (no worries! It's sheltered!) where you can enjoy the cool breeze and the greeneries.
Next come the food. We ordered the recommended crisp black pepper soft shell crab. It came with wasabi aioli but the wasabi taste was not too strong & went well with the crispy oft shell crab. Nice! We also ordered the soup of the day which was cream of aparagus & prawn. The cream was not too thick, just nice to warm up your stomach for the main course. For the main course, I ordered the Hokkaido scallop & prawn linguini (which turned out to be sphagetti) while my partner ordered roasted soy-glazed french duck breast & duck confit. The sphagetti came with a generous serving of fresh, huge scallops & prawns. But the sauce was a little too salty for me. The duck was ok (probably because I'm not a big fan of duck meat), quite tender though. You can even decide how well you want it to be cooked.
Next comes the dessert! We picked a truly sinful but nice one called 'warm bittersweet chocolate torte' which comes with melted hot chocolate in the middle, a scoop of vanilla ice cream & strawberries. It was heavenly! The combination of the bittersweet taste of the chocolate, milky vanilla ice cream & a little sour taste from the strawberries. Oh my god!
It's definitely a nice place to dine in, away from all the high-rise buildings in Singapore.
My friend had a sudden crave for the food here, so we decided to settle our dinner here.
She ordered the eel porridge while I just ordered a plate of xiao bai cai in oyster sauce since I wasn't feeling too hungry then. I had a mouthful of the eel porridge & it tasted quite nice. Sweet porridge. But my plate of vegetables wasn't nice. the xiao bai cai was not xiao (small) at all. Big stalks of the vegetables which were not cut. It made eating quite difficult and the oyster sauce was quite diluted too.
To compensate for the disappointment, we ordered the mango ice to share. It was good! Generous servings of mango on the top. It's definitely worth a try.
It is in fact my first time to do online shopping. Initially, I wasn't too keen in online shopping,especially for clothes as I prefer to try on the clothes to make sure that I can fit into them nicely. But lately, I was introduced to this blog store by my friend & realised that it is quite interesting.
The website provides pictures of models wearing the clothes on sale. Furthermore, they also provide useful information such as the length of clothes, bust diameter, sleeve length, arm hole, stretchability, etc. Very customer-friendly!
From the series, I've picked 2 pieces of clothes. However, only 1 of them was available and it took them quite a while (about 2 weeks) before I was informed. The delivery also took quite some time t arrive (near to 2 months).
On the overall, I like the clothes catalogue, which covers a wide range of clothes from casual wear to office wear. However, their customer service should be improved.
Not too salty. That is the key thing. The soup base is flavourful. I have tried other Sapporo Ramen, this one is quite close to the authentic one that I had in Hokkaido. :D
The char siu melts in your mouth. The eggs are perfectly 80% done. I love the 80% cooked yolk! It's like the Marutama's Ajitsuke Tamago!

Decided to watch Golden Compass on a weekday in Gold Class to pamper ourselves for once. Haa....
Surprised to see that it is almost fully booked on a weekday afternoon. Hmm... Seem like a lot of ppl really dun mind spending money for comfort. Haa...
Once in, we are greeted by very polite servers. There is a lounge for us to relax while waiting for our movie to start. The menu is very impressive as well where we can order set meals to snacks to even beer or while while watching the movies. Haa...
Once we are urshered to our seats, we are greeted by big plush red sofa chairs, with a blanket on the sides. The seats are very comfortable and with a push on the side button, the seat will slowly move into a flat bed position. So you can adjust to whatever position that you are comfortable with.
There is a small table in between the seats where you can place your snacks or food. There is a button on the table where you can press for service.
As there is only like 24 seats in the cinema, the space is really big and no way the person in front can block you. The screen is a wide large screen that fills the length of the room.
Paying $25 per ticket ($30 for weekends), is consider a luxruy to me. However if the movie is 2.5 hrs or even longer, I think the money is worth spending. At times, they will have special promotion for with food tied in with the movie and I think that is much more worth it.
What a way to pamper a movie lover like myself. Hee.....

Before we started, we were served some tea, before we start our Jacuzzi. Since it was outdoor and it was raining, the hot Jacuzzi was a good welcome. Spent about 40 mins in it. We were given fresh towels to dry ourselves.
After which, we were urshered to our respective steamrooms.
While waiting for the scrubs, we were urshered into a holding area, where we can sit down and relax, with hot tea provided.
For our body scrubs, we chose sugar scrub with lavender scent. We were urshered into a room with smoothing music playing at the same time. While lying on the bed, they "forcefully" scrub the lavender scent sugar crystals on us. It is not painful but a little ticklish. Hee.... After which we were asked to shower off. Our bodies were smelling great after it.
After another cup of hot tea, we started our massage. I got the Traditional Indonesian Massage while my partner got Indulgent Aroma Massage. For mine, it was done in a good and forceful way. It did relax all my tensed muscles. The whole massage was smooth and relaxing. The massuer also used enough force as well.
After another quick shower, we lazed around with another hot cup of tea, relaxing.
The whole experience was very good and it was done in a professional way as well. It seems that we have the whole palce to us as there is no other people at the same time. This was great as we dun feel like rush to complete our package.
In fact the whole experience was so good that we signed up for another 3 more couple packages. Since the spa is located in Safra, the rpcie is also cheaper than those in town area or in hotels. So looking forward to our next spa experience. For those who have not tried it, should do so quick!
At first glance, we thought that Marche had changed their name to Vilage, pronounced as vee-lah-jay. The ordering system was the same, food was also the same and everything else looked similar. Vilage was also occupying the same place as Marche at the basement of Heeren. What can we say but good marketing move to open a similar styled restaurant occupying the same premise as your competitor.
We dined at Marche a few times and the experience at Vilage was no difference. We went for our personal favourite... the rosti. Looked and tasted the same. Only later did we realise that about 10 of Vilage's pioneering staff were from Marche. They crossed over together with Marche's former kitchen and operating manager.
Does that explain the similarities in the mascot also?
We had the Baked Cod fish $14.50 and that was all it was on the plate. One piece of baked cod fish. Side dishes were no where in sight. The taste and texture of the fish was nothing to shout about. It was creamy and juicy and tasted like the one we cooked ourselves, except that the fish we cooked was larger in size. :)
Perhaps there is something different in the Vilage with Marche. Most of the portions have shrunked - rosti, pasta, pizza, etc, except the Erdinger Beer. haha.
Our total bill came up to $45 for 2 persons and we were still hungry. Maybe must eat more.
Curry rice hunting lead us to this place touted as one of the best in Singapore. The queue was not too long and we were able to have our first bite in about 10 min.
Like all curry rice, we had to stop the uncle from "messing" up the rice and the dishes with tons and tons of curry, gravy and whatever it was that he poured on it. Perhaps that is how it should be eaten. But that was not to our liking. Despite pulling the brakes on the gravy the plate was still covered with much of it.
The pork chop was medium sized and tasted ok. It was rather soft and it did not feel crisp. Perhaps the gravy softened it. The rest of the other dishes were just about there. Nothing to crave about. We will still stick to our fav stall at Maxwell Road Food Center.
Have you stepped into a cinema feeling a little weird about the positioning of the screen? Today was the first time I felt that way.
As usual, we'd queue up and get our tickets. I had the choice of sitting at the side but further from the screen, or sitting in the middle but nearer to the screen. I thought, hey, no difference right? So I took the seats at the side.
I stepped into Cinema 4 and looked around. The lights were still lit and the place looked clean and fine. No weird smell, nothing. Nice.. Time to sit down and just wait for the show! But wait.. there's something amiss... And that's when I realized that the screen was rather centralized and it was no wider than the middle block of seats. Rather weird I'd say as I noticed that at most cinemas, the screens would usually span almost across the wall. Also, the seats were not positioned in a suitable angle that allowed us to face the screen better.
I guess it's just a little weird. I would say it would have been better if the seats were slanted abit more or the screen was bigger. But other than that, it was comfortable (:

Went for my 1st Spa experience @ The Rainforest Spa. When 1st step in, the whole place gave a very calming and peaceful effect.
Since it is our 1st time there, the reception was patient to explain our package to us. Our package includes of
1. Outdoor Jacuzzi & Steam Bath

3. Massage
