Went there to have dinner with a few close frens for dinner yesterday. As usual ard dinner time there will be always a queue in front of the resturant. So we waited around for 20 mins (Yes the place was full before dinner time!), before we are seated.

When we joined the queue, the waitress will hand us a copy of their order form and we can start to order our food alr. A good way to shorten the waiting time when we are seated.

The place is nicely decorated, with a feel that we are in the wood of some forest. Got the feel of we are sitting in the mitddle of a pavailion having dinner. However I do find it a bit cramped as again they tried to squezze in as many tables into the small place they have.

So what food we ordered? (Sorry too bz eating and forget to take pics Hee....)

    1. Samsui Chicken. Their star dish and one dish that I will never get sick of. Haa.... The chicken is tender and boneless. The way to eat it was to put a piece of chicken in the large piece of lettuce, then add in lots and lots of their special mixed ginger! The ginger taste mixed with the chicken and the cruchy lettuce makes a prefect combo!

    2. Begger Ribs. It is pork ribs that are BBQ. The ribs are a bit in the small side. The pic that they showen on the poster seem much bigger. Hee... However the taste of the rib was sweet and juicy. The meat also seperates off the rib without much effort.

    3. Spicy prawn tofu. This one comes with a slightly spciy but thick sauce that definitely goes good with white rice! The prawns are big and fresh! The tofu is tender yet not mushy. Although I ordered in small size, the portion came in a pretty much generous portion.

    4. Sambal Kang Kong. Well it is fresh and cruchy. However not as spicy as expected.

    5. Soup of the day. Hmm... the soup is winter melon, carrots plus pork ribs. It is good and can taste that they did not sue any MSG inside the soup. However, it seem like everytime I go, the soup of the day is the same.

    6. Steamed rice with chicken. This i ssomething like the steam bamboo rice. The chicken and mushroom are tender. The juice of both are sipped into the rice making the rice more fragent and bale to eat on its own!

The service there is much prompt, systematic and good. The food also came out pretty fast, in about 10 mins, all our dishes came alr.

Something funny happen, which I consider it good, we orginally order 7 dishes, the waitress when confirming the dishes with us, suggested that we ordered too much for a grp of 3, so she suggested that we take one dish away. This turn out to be good as we barely finished all the dishes in the end. Haa....

Spent ard $83 on the meal, making 3 people very happy with the dinner!

I have tried other outlets as well. Seem like all outlets provides almost of the same quaility of food and service as well.

    2872. Cafe Swiss

Cafe Swiss - a not too recent addition to the Swissotel family and specialising in traditional Swiss and European Cuisine. Honestly, I have but a vague idea of what constitutes Swiss cuisine. My idea of Swiss food goes as far as Cheese Fondue. Its shameful really, considering that I had a Swiss buddy in school while I was pursuing my college education.

Far from the maddening crowd, in a private space with a soaring ceiling on the second level of Raffles City, Cafe Swiss provides the perfect place to have that idyllic dinner as crowds are scarce and the ambience is one of contemporary elegance infused with soothing comfort.

The de facto opening dish - complimentary bread. Although Cafe Swiss serves up various varieties of bread in a neat napkin wrapped basket, none of them impressed me at all. Not to mention they weren't the least bit warm as well. So much for the purposeful napkin.

Veal Emince Zurichoise - Sliced veal and button mushroom on morel cream sauce with roesti potato. Interestingly, I never had veal done this way thus this dish proved to be an eye opener for me. Not that it tasted out of this world though. The veal was done medium well with the button mushrooms wedged between the rolled up veal. All of which was served on a bed of rice (Risotto? Sure tasted like it) with the morel(type of mushroom) cream sauce. Honestly, the veal was a tad too salty for my liking but I do like the texture and the flavour of the veal and this dish as a whole especially with the infusion of the cream sauce. Look out for the small portions though.

Papet Vaudois - Smoked pork sausage on leek and potato stew. Firstly, the sausage didn't taste smoked to me. Second, it lacked the exploding juices effect when popped into the mouth. However, having said that, it was nice and flavourful but could have been better. A plus point was its huge size.

Ignorant me has never eaten carrot cake before (Not chye tao kway!) so we got this to try. First looks didn't impress me much as the cake looked unevenly sliced with carrots protruding out from the sides. Taste wise was decent, with the sugar top not too sweet and the cake tasty from the walnuts, almonds and carrots within. However, it was a little too dry, which is a bummer really.

I would like to think that through this meal, I have learnt what Swiss cuisine is all about. Unfortunately I'm none the wiser even after spending about $70 for 2 pax (before discount).

Recently, I went to the Carousel, Royal Plaza on the Scotts with my bosses and colleagues. RP is owned by the Brunei King. So…. The restaurants in the hotel serve Halal food. Carousel serves International Halal Buffet, featuring Mediterranean, Asian, Salad and Japanese Stations with 3 desserts counters and fruit juice station. Wooooo… they have Chocolate Fondue leh!!!

My Appetizer - the Japanese Station. The sushi is fresh. Soba is well cooked, sauce are not too salty. :D I took the Cold Seafood Selection - but they are tasteless. Need to go with the cocktail sauce or tobasco.

The Hot Items Selection has too much for me to choose. They got Wagyu Beef which I dun take. I like their Lamb and Roast Chicken. ;D The seafood soup is so-so. Not flavourful enough.

My Dessert - Vanilla Ice-cream with chocolate drops; Assorted fruits dip in Chocolate Fondue; and Mango Pudding. The Mango Pudding is too soft. Not nice. :p

    2874. Yummy O Donuts

I didn't see the place itself, but my brother brought home a box of Yummy donuts. For me, I haven't tried anything else but Munchy's (let's not count the overseas ones like KRISPY KREME'S!), so I don't really have a good variety of donuts to compare.

My first impression of it was that it was small. Yes, small. It somehow looked smaller than the other donuts. Is it me or what? But when I showed some friends, they all said it was small. But I must say it looked nice actually. (Or at least the few that I saw..)

I tried 2. They were all chocolate flavoured. I didn't heat it up but I ate it about 45 min after it was out of the fridge. I didn't quite expect it to be good because it wasn't heated up after taking out of the fridge, but I was kinda surprised at how it was rather soft. I like it that way. And I thought it wasn't too sweet. I actually thought the softness was kinda like KK's. Of course it didn't taste like it.

On the whole, it wasn't that great, but I thought it tasted better than Munchy's. Comparing the chocolate flavoured ones, I thought Yummy's was better as you don't get sick of it so fast. Maybe because it's smaller, or maybe it's just the flavour. But I really got sick of Munchy's very soon.

I think I'd go back there to get my donuts if it's not somewhere with long queues.. But I'd still say donuts in Singapore are overrated..

This is a super horrible place. Once you sign up for the programme, they will never let you go. The consultants will surround you and keep pester you to buy more products and slimming programs and even you rejected, they still persist. The effect of the treatment is not effective, might as well go for mesotherapy or lipo. The consultants will ask you to use your boyfriend or husdband money to sign up packages for them. You wont enjoy the treatments as the consultants will talk to you throughout and u cant even rest! Pls avoid this slimming centre. Dont believe what they have advertise. YOu will expect to spend $10,000 if you want effect. The treatment procedures are painful, prepare to see bruises and they said is common sign.

Was wandering around United Square with my gf deciding what to eat for dinner when we chanced upon this eatery/watering hole.

Tucked in a rather obscure corner of United Square, it is hidden from the crowds that descend upon the other more prominent food outlets in the area. This isn't a bad thing at all, considering that it provides a welcome respite from all the hustle and bustle. The interior of the place is simply charming. A high ceiling coupled with an overhanging chandelier against a red wall backdrop provides a feeling of space and relaxation. Add the comfy window seats and soft background music to the equation and viola, you have a nice chill out place.

Nicely presented with a slice of bread, the mushroom soup didn't quite meet expectations. It came across as a little runny and tasteless although it was made from grounded mushrooms. A little salt might have done wonders. And at $8 a bowl, it certainly didn't come cheap.

Long Fed Ribeye - According to the waiter who recommended this dish to me, long fed beef has its fats within the slab of meat, whereas normal beef has fats around the edges. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I infer that its something similar to Wagyu then? The beef was served almost well done and strangely enough, the waiter didn't ask me how I wanted it to be done when he took my order. I wonder why. That aside, the ribeye was surprisingly tender for its doneness, but lacked the succulence that I would have enjoyed. Size wise was probably about 180g - 200g. The accompanying mushroom sauce was a little diluted and light on the flavours. I would have preferred a more robust sauce honestly.

The Coppa Noce sounded absolutely tempting but like the mushroom soup, fell a little short. The Maple Walnut ice cream had no hint of maple syrup whatsoever whereas the Straciatella had a slight tinge of coffee aftertaste. Nothing spectacular really.

$60 for 1 pax (I did all the eating) is pretty steep for the quantity and quality of food served. To top it off, I wasn't exactly stuffed up after the meal, which says pretty much about the quantity I guess. Service is good but food quality really needs to move up a notch or else all the good service and ambience will still amount to zilch.

Most things sold at the basement of Raffles Link are like finger food stuff, especially made convenient for consumption. I must say that it is a good idea to chop up the fish and chips into small pieces so that it's easy to eat, especially for people on the go. It's quite a common sight in London I think.

Whatever it is, common sight or not, I must say I don't quite like what I got from Chippy.. It was a small pack that cost you $4.60, but nonetheless it was really filling. Why? Because of the batter. If you have to know, I think the fish is just 20% fish and 80% batter. Plus the fact that there's also chips in the bag (that's fried in the batter too), you can't quite tell exactly how much fish are there.

I like the idea and how convenient it is, but I think it's really not that good/ worth the money..
