Took Advantage of the UOB 1-1 deal and booked ourselves a table almost a mth in advance!

When the day finally came, and we reached, the waitress asked for our name, and is able to recall who is on the reserved list today without checking any records! There is an outdoor dining area, a indoor pub and the 2nd floor has an indoor dining area too. Not so sure about the 3rd floor!

We had the set dinner, which is of 5 course, $65. We had an appettiser, a main, and a dessert. Ummm... and i thought its only 3 course, maybe the drinks counted too? Cos we had a perrier and coffee/tea.

While waiting for our food, we were served very nice mini french loafs. Or maybe you will call them jiam tao roti. They are delightfully crispy and hot! Their butter is also nice, with a milk after taste. Its not those packaged butter! I think while waiting for our meals, we had 3 servings of the nice bread=P

We ordered Escargot, duck salad and added on Goose liver! How can you not have them at a French Restaurant?

Escargot is nice, not soaked in olive oil like wat i had in Jack's place. The duck salad is not so bad. Goose Liver is delightful! Thick and creamy, just nice. THeir slices of apples are also very nice to go with.

Our mains - Ribeye steak And Traditional Duck.

The ribeye is just nice as a medium rare. Perfectly cooked. But i find the cut rather too thin. Would do better if its thicker and juicier!

My Duck.. oh mine, it doesn't taste like any duck you have at home or at coffee shop. I took my first bite , and the skin or rather Fats? melted in my mouth! Woooo! Melt in you mouth duck! The duck meat is rather salty after many many bites. You gotta eat with its skin/fats and the mashed potato to have a good blend.

Dessert is gorgeous... We had apple tart? and Choco Fondant. Nice! The chocolate is thick and slightly bitter and yet sweet! My Fave... THe apple is nice too... with a thin light crust. They all came with a scoop of ice cream...

Overall, being my first french food, I say its good! Thumbs Up! Quite different from normal western! But i find that not alot of ppl frequent. I think for that Sunday night, only 3 tables of guests! >.

Decided to try their donuts when 8 Days recommended their donuts. The queue was not that long but still a good 20 mins wait.

The variety of the donuts is not a lot compared to others. Got an assorted set. After tasting a few, not really impressed with the donuts, find them a bit too sweet for liking. Too me it is jz like overated dough!

Had been to this cafe once with my friends. That was my first time eating there though I had walked past it several times while strolling along Singapore River.

Me and my friends ordered a couple of dishes to share among us. Our order included Fritto Misto (a seafood platter with crab cakes, prawn tails), Pollo E Peperoni pizza (consisting of tomato, mozzarella, chicken, bell pepper and basil) and Al Crudo pizza ( consisting Rucola, Parma Ham, Tomato and Mozzarella Cheese). The taste of the platter and pizzas were really quite nice. The crust of the pizza were not too thick and were done crisp and not heavy on the flour. The ingredients were fresh and juicy.

The cafe is famous for its wide range of desserts such as homemade gelato, pastries and celebratory cakes. So we decided to try some of the pastries out. We ordered a total of 5 different pastries, which is called Pasticceria in Italian.

They were Diplomatica, Musa, Cassata Siciliana, Soffiato , and Tiramisu. All of them really tasted good and nt very sweet as well. Recalling all thi smakes me drool!! *Slurp*
So for those who are more health conscious. do not worry!!!

There are many more different types of pastries that I will go back to try as well as the gelato. All in all, I would recommend this place for people who have a weakness for nice pastries.

Been there once before both 4th level and 8th level. Personally I prefer the 8th level as the room are larger and the sofa and everything seems in better shape.

One thing that impress me on the 8th level is they used wireless mic instead of wired mics and it is a big plus. Hee..

The drinks there are quite standard nothing to shout out about but getting on the smaller side.

The songs are up to date but sometimes the system reaction to the remote control is a bit slow.

One thing good about Kbox is if you booked the room until midnight and no one books the room after midnight they will aloow you to sing until someone is taking over the room.

Had been to this outlet several times before. I would say that the service there is quite good and the staff are very helpful. The view there is great, if you are seated at the balcony area. Also, there is a lesser crowd there as compared to teh one at Bugis and thus, one need not have to wait in the queue for a long time. Normally when I go there, I can go in straightaway without waiting at all. (",)

As for the food, my personal favorite are the Billy's BBQ Buffalo Ribs, Honey Stung Crispy Golden Chicken, Yin & Yang Burger, American Fries and Onio Rings. The taste is good and value for money. Also, do order the lemon tea as it comes in a min pitcher which can be shared among two people.

I would say that the place has good food for money and it is very accessible as well, since The Central is directly above Clarke Quay MRT (NEL ). So do go there and give it a try.

Had dim sum at Victor's. Quality is quite good while prices are relatively cheap.

Victor's custard buns were probably one of the better ones that I've tried so far, with the custard milky, smooth and moist while the bun soft, fluffy and warm. The only thing that's lacking is the richness of the custard, which I did find a little lacking. Maybe I'm just picky.

Tasty Chicken (Hong Kong Style) - I didn't find this dish too fantastic as the taste of the rice wine was overwhelming and personally, I'm not really a fan of chicken cooked this way.

The Char Siew Cheong Fun was probably one of the weakest links in Victor's offerings. The skin was a little too thick and came across as rather starchy, unlike the silky smooth and translucent thin skins that good cheong funs should have. The char siew was rather normal as well, which kinda sealed the fate for this dish.

The Tasty Queen size Siew Mai wasn't really queen size per se. It was just slightly bigger than your average siew mai. What I liked about it was that the proportion of fatty meat to lean meat was relatively low, which didn't make me queasy after eating too much. But the skin was a tad too dry though

A hot favourite amongst customers, the prawns in the har gao were very fresh, albeit not too crunchy. The skin was nicely done, lightly stretchable and not too thick, but please eat it when its still hot.

Marginally smooth with a fair amount of bite best describes the Scallop, Sausage Carrot Cake. Sure it isn't exactly near the best that I've eaten, but for the price, no one's complaining. One gripe though, I couldn't taste or make out any traces of scallop or sausage in the carrot cake. Talk about misrepresentation.

Maybe its a norm to call it something as grand as phoenix porridge in Hong Kong, but in Singapore, we call it pi dan chow, or century egg porridge. Victor's rendition wasn't the least bit impressive, being average at best. The porridge tasted like normal slightly runny porridge with small pieces of century egg and prawn balls in it.

A filling dim sum brunch for 2 pax cost us about $20, which is cheap for the above average quality dim sum that you get. Of course there are better ones out there, but don't forget that they cost a lot more too. Try this place out, but please don't get your expectations too high and you will enjoy it.

Was at this outlet a couple of weeks ago.. As compared to the outlet at Raffles City, I felt that the service here was seriously much better. Firstly, instead of you having to fin your seats, they will usher you to your seats and let you have a choice of seats if the place isn't very crowded.

Secondly, the staff service was prompt and helpful in explaining some of the items on the menu to us. Thirdly, the staff brought two glasses of iced water to us even without us asking for it and somemore, iced water could be taken on your own from the bread counter as I saw later.

So I ordered a set of CRISPY COMBO, which was a Golden combination of crispy fried chicken fish fillets, prawn dippers, rodeo wings, mixed vegs & fries comes with 2 dips, B.B.Q. sauce & chef's special sauce ( which I think is mayo mixed with abit of wasabi). I must say that the food also tasted better than that at Raffles City.

So overall, I would give it a thumbs up and go back for more if the crowd is nt that huge. Lastly, from time to time, they have special promotions for credit card payments, so do check it out with the staff when you are paying your bill.

If memory serves me correct, I have only eaten twice in that restaurant and both times, I left with a not so good impression.

The first time round, was with a grp of polymates. And one of the guy's meal came only after everyone were already halfway through their meals and his order was nothing complicated that required a long time to prepare.

The second time, again the same thing happened. And like what Polarbear had mentioned, the only thing nice there is perhaps the bread, which is free flow. But hey cmon, I go there nt to just eat bread loh!!!

SO overall, I dnt think I would go back to this outlet anymore till their standards improve.

    Updated 05 Oct 2007

Ytd was at the Starbucks Raffles City to talk abt some insurance thingy with agent and gf. SO after we were done, gf nated to eat at the Cafe Cartel next door. So despite the poor experiences I had in the past I decided to give it one more chance. But still they disappointed me. I ordered two dishes but they only keyed in one!!! Luckily I discovered it quite early on else I would have been sitting there waiting in vain for my meal. So therefore, its proven to me that this outlet's service still is nt up to standard and needs lots of improvement.

I went to K-BoX to Sing last friday night.... It was fun and I was so impressed by the size of this thing.....

We were late.. and thats all because of the GAGA Girls I was with and then we couldn't find the right room, because the place is freaking huge...... I thought the K-Box at level 4 was huge, wait till you see the level 8 Branch..... Goodness.. this is Singapore, not MUMBAI.......

Since the GAGA girls are equally blur as me, we asked for room 26 at Level 4 even though we were repeatedly told its room 26 at Level 8. My clever brain thought the level 4 K-Box is huge enough and there could only be one. But as we were brought to the room 28 at level 4 I rushed in with a loud HELLO.... and I was greeted with 8 Strangers with SHOCK Faces.. Talk about most embarassing moments.

Then we proceeded to the level 8... and when the lift door opened...... WELCOME TO MUMBAI style K-BOX.... It was so huge and there were lotz of servers all around.. saying GOOD EVENING, HOW ARE YOU to us.... The room was a comfortable size for 8 or 10...

Songs were pretty updated with the newest singable mandaring and english songs. We didn't check out the hindi songs but I'm sure its as updated if not Better.... The common toilet was a screw up, but just don't drink so much, I think its fine. We had quite a great time and later into the night, our Hong Kong girlfriends went Crazy and danced on the couches threatening to Tuo Diao Tuo Diao......

Hm... I think that last point just invited a huge percentage of Singaporean men to visit K-Box at level 8 Cineleisure.. As such I shall stop here.....

Tuo Diao Tuo Diao..... Shang Yi Tuo DIao Tuo Diao........
Tong Tong Tuo DIao Tuo Diao.......

I have a NDS Lite... In short its a 2 screened GAMEBOY. If you think that its a childish thing, then you should buy one and experience the sophistication of the technology especially crafted into this handheld equipment. I always wanted to protect the screens as I am not very gentle towards handheld equipments.

One faithful SUNDAY afternoon, I was shopping in FUNAN and I came across the screen protector i wanted to find in PK COMPUTERS PTE LTD. It is retailing at only $7.90, comes in exactly cut sizes and is of a pretty good quality.

It is easy to find screen protectors and it can get really cheap, but usually the cheap ones are not of good quality and most of the time you've got to place them on yourself. They come off easily and might harm your screen instead of protecting it. Especially when you have a touch screen, sometimes when we are excited we tend to be rather ROUGH on the screens and they are very expensive to replace.

I got the protectors and proceed to payment. After payment, the retail assistant asked if I brought my unit and proceed towards fixing the protector up for me. It was perfectly fitted on and I've never seen my NDS Lite so clean since day 1.

For those looking for screen protectors, I recommend PK Computers. Though they do not specialise in this but they did an excellent job in fixing it on. You can also play some games on their demo sets while waiting for them to get your protector on. So far, this is the only place i could find such good quality protectors at such value price.

For an even cheaper idea, you might want to stick on a piece of clear masking tape... Hee hee.....
