Blue Mist is a small cafe/Restaurant/Bar situated near the end of AMARA at the back, facing the small road.
A perfectly cosy place to chill out with your friends or to meet your clients for a short drink. This cafe bar though small, provides a plentiful of choices of food. And what more, a more plentiful choices of wines to choose from the rack. These wines are thoughtfully priced with the price tag, obvious but not offensive. Besides beer and wine you can also get carefully crafted cocktails and house pours.
I love to order a nice pot of tea and have their dark cherry and almond pie. I love that pie very much as it is so delectable. With its buttery crust and soft creamy fillings, who would not like something so delectable. Every bite melts in your mouth yet you can crunch on bits of almond slices... Oooh.... Its not too sweet but savoury enough. Sip on a cup of hot mint tea from their extensive selections and enjoy the bliss.... These tea leaves are freshly kept in jars and the visual effect is just fab....
Nice place to hang out, day and night.. and the service is also pretty good. You may choose to sit in or alfresco style... but when you sit near the clear glass partitions, please beware of the protruding glass slabs that you might bump your head on.. Overall, its a nice place.....
If you like SteamBoat and Chicken Rice, This is the place to be. They have been in business since before i was born and till today, business is still thriving. You can Imagine how yummy.
Located at a not so glamourous shopping mall. This steamboat restaurant serves one of the best chicken rice I had ever tasted. The chicken meat is soft and tender but not too oily. Steamboat is about the same but the ingredients are pretty standard with veg, fishballs, a little meat, sea cucumber, fish skin..etc...
When both combined... Everything just went crazily YUMMY... The chicken rice went so well with the steamboat. With a nice cup of freshly squeezed orange juice, it is completely appetizing, especially on a rainy day. Seeping the hot hot soup with a half cooked egg is simply a dream come through.
On some evenings, they also serve Pork Satay. Can you find another Satay Stall in a fully air conditioned shopping mall? There is also roast pork and if you like hor fun and other kinds of noodle dishes. They are cooked OLD STYLE and very yummy.
Remember to call to book your sits, sometimes its rather difficult as it is pretty popular.
Traditional SteamBoat with CHICKY Rice...... YUM YUM......
Pepper Lunch , by now is a new popular fast food chain serving up set meals on a sizzling hot pot right up to your table. It's like an individual serving of BBQ food.
Each set has a good combination of meat, vegetables and rice. A nice well-balanced meal, served fast cos it cooks at your table. :) A nice alternative to the regular fast food, but it's at twice the price.
What we ordered at the Suntec Outlet: Teriyaki Chicken Set Beef Pepper Rice
The place was rather empty (as it was a weekday) when we went in at 11.30am... we ordered quickly. They adopted a new system of seating people. They give you a table number suitable for the number of patrons and the huge number tags are already on all the tables. I think this is much more efficient and it prevents people from hogging tables far too big for their group. The Teriyaki Chicken set is their latest promotion so it's not on their menu on their website. The lady introduced it to me and I gladly tried it. There's also the Teriyaki Salmon set and Teriyaki Beef Set.
Our food arrived quickly. The young man who served us patiently explained how to cook the food and what condiments we could add. He said it quickly, clearly and with a smile.
Both dishes were good. The food tasted fine, partly due to our cooking. haha
One gripe would be the presentation of the food. They were very innovative in having the paper around the hotplate so that patrons would not burn themselves against it. But the chopsticks and the bowls are of very poor material, and quite ugly in fact. Another thing is that the salt and pepper container at our table was virtually empty. Since it was the start of the day, I would have expected everything to be nicely filled up.
By the time we left at 12.10pm, the place was nicely filling up with the lunchtime crowd.
Now.. I would like to try the cheaper Pepper Lunch at Century Square Food court... haha
do not really understand why there is a change in my appetite recently. Used to like seafood, but now i don't dare to touch them? Mysterious? hahahah... Today, i have this sudden craving for dim sum, think of siew man, char siew bao will start to make me drool. So when i chanced upon this dim sum outlet, i was pretty happy.
This pick & bite cafe is no ordinary dim sum store. Besides selling those dim sum in the straw basket, you can find congee, rice dumplings, desserts, baos and more. A rather wide range of food to be found here right?
Baos and dim sum are probably easier to pack and eat on the go as compared to noodles and mixed rice. Thus, during lunch time, you get to see many people patronizing their outlet to pack some snacks. (A rather long queue can be seen)
Fear not that you will have to stand and eat their food as they have set up few tables and chairs to cater for those customers who wants to enjoy their food in the outlet itself. There have also set up some additional chairs outside of their store. (most probably for the smokers to smoke and eat at the same time?)
Tried their lotus leaf rice, one of their most popular item in the cafe (at least 50% of its customer will be seen eating this dish). However, i was not very impressed with this dish, as the rice (japanese rice) was rather dry and hard. Perhaps, the rice was overcooked? The ingredients in the rice was rather little too. (only a few piece of char siew and small cubes of mushrooms is seen) Patheic?
Tasted their dessert -- orh nee (yam paste), but it seems too diluted too taste. (makes me think of orh nee in a drink form?) Whats more? This is my very first time to eat orh nee without ginko nuts. (the version that i ate is totally different from the picture shown) Did they forgot to put it in or picture is deceiving? I really wonder.
Tried their baskets of dim sum as well, their har gia (shrimps wrapped in wanton skin) is not that great too. Rather dry, and small size. Not really worth the amount paid too.
Well, guess my experience with them is not really that marvellous after all. I would really have to ponder hard hard if i would like to step in and try their food again. :P
What would you think of when i say fast food restuarant? As for me, i would think of Macdonald! Perhaps their strong advertisement has make this impact (fast food equals to mac chicken?) on me whenever i think of fast food restuarant. hahhaahah...
However, this japanese brand fast food competitor somehow has managed to creep into my heart. (so now, i thought of mos burger too whenever i heard of fast food restuarant) :P
Whats so special about this restuarant, you may ask? Well, the most special part of this restuarant is the japanese flavour not only in their food but also in the design of the restuarant and the staff uniforms as well.
I like almost anything in the menu that they have. One of the most popular burger is definitely their teriyaki chicken burger. This is my favourtie too. I simply like the fact that they bother to toast their bun. Imagine the bun is hot and one side of the bread is slightly crispy, it makes my whole burger eating experience great.
Not forgetting, they uses teriyaki chicken breast (should be as it do not look like drumstick to me :P) which is a rather healthy alternative compared to the rest of the parts of a chicken. Whats more, they actually included fresh vegetables (not few slices but one big piece) into the burger, definitely makes me feel less guilty when i induge in the fast food.
Another must try is definitely their corn soup. They have about 3 different types of soup available but corn soup is still the best. I like the thickness of the coup (not too thick where it will stick together and not too thin that you feel you are drinking plain water). The strong corn taste of the corn soup (sometimes you can see few pieces of corn bits in it) is something which makes me crave more for their soup.
Milk tea as a fast food drink item? You can find it here! You get the choice of making how milky you want the drink to be. This is because their milk tea is not pre mixed before hand, instead you have to add in the milk yourself from individual packings. I loved this personalised milk tea as i can add in the amount of milk accordingly to my mood on that day :P.
A rather interesting concept from the normal american chain of fast food restuarant that you see. Although their prices may be slightly higher, its definitely worth to try them out.
Tends to get a headache whenever i see too much people queuing for food. But guess only good food will attract lots of customer. dilemma right? hahahahaha... initially, just wanted to have a simple dinner at the food court, but out of a sudden it seems overwhem with people. (people going for weekend cruise)
In the end, i decided not to squeese with the crowd and went upstairs searching for a place to have quiet meal. Then did i saw this Orient Cruise cafe located at the third level of the harbourfront centre.
Well, though the signboard has written it as a cafe, you basically will not find any servers greeting you as you enter their store. Why is it so, you may ask? This is because they are on a self service practice. Even, the food that you would like to eat, you will have to queue it up yourself and buy them.
Their varieties of food is not really that much, basically it includes mixed rice (you get to choose you own side dish like vegetables, meat, etc), mee siam, mee rubus and laksa. Not really much to choose right?
Was not very impressed with their mee siam thou. Firstly, its definitely their lack of ingredients. Basically, you can only find one egg, 3 small cubes of tau pok and whole chunk of bee hoon. I though perhaps their mee siam may taste great despite their lack of ingredients. But im very disappointed when their bee hoon taste like rubber bands. :(
Next important stuff for a good mee siam, its their mee siam sauce. For me, i think that good mee siam sauce should have a not too sweet and not too salty kind of taste. (just right is the key word). However, i feel this mee siam sauce is too salty and it lacks the peanut taste that most of the mee siam have. Makes me drink quite abit of water after that.
Tasted their laksa too. The first thing that i wan to comment is the pool of red chilli oil floating on the top of the laksa. Makes me feel like i am drinking oil instead? However, it has definitely much more ingredients than the mee siam, with all its fish cake and beansprouts. hahaha... Taste wise, nothing fanastic i guess.
This shop can gets rather crowd during peak hours. Mixed rice is definitely the most popular item for its customers, judging from the people over there. However, it may not be a good choice to bring my mee siam fanatics to try it here.
There is a Mc Cafe next to the mcdonald in Jurong Point and before the launching of the WIFI all over singapore, mcdonald had it launched first.
The Mc Cafe there is pretty nice and classy. with the dark brown theme, but the service is not so friendly. What more, there is only one power wall socket there and it is functional. But ONE DAY.. to many customer's dismay, it has been turned off... There is no power for those who brought their lappy there to charge for a little while. I mean, if you do not provide ample wall sockets thats fine, but if its delibrately switch off then that is unfriendly.
It has been functional for quite a few months and as the number of charging customer's increases it becomes non-functional. Who knows what happened to it...
Anyway, the sandwiches are nice and the hot chocolate is fabulous. I love the milk fluff they put on top of the hot chocolate and the chocolaty powders they sprinkle on top.. not to say the wonderfully matched mushmellows.. OH SO DELECTABLE.....
Not recommended for working or presentations to your customers.... If not.... bring your own generator......
Huge Red Chairs, Few Power Points, Fabulously Nice Coffee and cakes and Beautiful Interior Design....
Pacific Coffee is one of the few coffee franchises that offers comfy couches for customers to laze around. A perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon. This outlet at the Vivo city has a library theme. There are some really classics story books laying around for you to read them for leisure.
With the huge sits, one could not but feel AT HOME... The wonderful aroma of the exotic coffee beans lushes the air..... If you like Alfresco style.... You might wanna sit outside and enjoy the ocean breeze... They have these really nice swing benches for two...... Sitting on it really makes you feel young...
Of all the McDonald's I must talk about this one..... Our childhood memories, our pride, the Kallang Stadium. Eventhough it is now under Renovation, but the McDonald nearby there is still filled with people all the time. The food taste the same everywhere and the fries and sundae seemed ancient to me.. but this outlet has got plenty of power sockets for you to power up the devices especially your Lappy...
What good does it do when you have wireless internet without power sockets?
With this, many can study there, do their homework, do presentations to their customers and other business or sales persons can function from there. It is indeed a fabulous place to work in.. and what more.. there are PLENTY of FREE PARKING all over this outlet..... Food is priced at the same amount but it is more functional here... The location is out of town but not far away from town... Really a perfect place for corporate employees.
There is also an indoor play ground for your kids to play... A perfect place for the family. Can you imagine your Hubby reading the papers, you reading your online magazine on your lappy and your kids having a great time in the playground.. perfect for a non working day.....
Love Japanese Fastfood? Then you must come to MOS BURGER.. EVERYTHING is nice.... I wonder why....
I love burgers but with a tinge of japanese seasoning in them, I love it more.... Ever since i came across MOS Burger when I was a little girl Many many years ago, I was so intrigued that i spent the rest of my week having MOS Burger's Burgers for the rest of the week.
The Burgers, each nicely wrapped with soft and juicy fillings are simply irrisistable. My favourite is the MOS CHEESE BuRGer.... I love the many chopped onion soaked in delectable sauce and the OH Sooo... Yummy Myo....
My Dad and Bro loves the rice burgers. be it chicken or beef. They love the thinly sliced juicy beef cooked to perfection.... The Fries are normal but do ask for that extra sinful Myo... it sure goes well with the fries...
The corn soup is also very very nice especially with a huge dose of pepper. Not forgetting with the japanese salad with the refreshing sauce.
The next thing i loved most is the ICE MILK TEA... really creamy creamer they use.....
If you love ice cream or MILK SHAKES.. you must try their COFFEE SHAKE... its fabulously...... YUMMY... so creamy with a thick coffee flavour.
