First time there at the Central (中环茶餐厅). Always see long queue there, but never has a chance to try. Recently, my sis jio me to go with her. She said its quite good.

Too many items on the menu, I cannot find any usual dishes that I saw on other HK cafes’ menu. So, I ordered something safe - Pork Chop dried noodles and Almond Milk Tea, while my sis went for Char Siew noodles and Cold Milk Tea.

Pork Chop Dried Noodles - the Pork Meat were well marinated. The soup base was just right, not too salty or bland. The only I dun really like is the noodles. I dun fancy Cantonese mee kia (thin noodles). Its a bit too hard to chew.

Char Siew Noodles - The presentation dun look good, but the mee pok was better than mine mee kia. Not too hard, just right. One customer saw her order, and requested to order the same too. Haaa….

The food is not bad, what is no-no is their service. Very bad service. Their cashier counter is actually their Kitchen delivery counter. They take a long time to settle the bill. They cleared the table fast (seems to be a good sign) but seems too fast. I just finished with my noodles, they cleared everything away, including my one and only serviette. The aunty waitress said she will give me a new one, but she din come back with one. Heng, I always make sure I have lots of tissue packs with me, so not ending up with oily mouth.

Yesh… Finally got a chance to taste the only-heard-of Lei Garden food @ CHIJMES without burning a hole in my wallet. It’s a conference closing dinner. I will love to miss it but for Lei Garden, I cannot say NO.

The ambience is classy, we had a VIP Room booked on the 2nd Floor. They have one Waitress solely to serve us. Good service. She pay lots of attention on us (Yeah, I know its her job, but not all staff are like her).

Food - Its more that what I am expecting. Looking at the specially designed menu for us, a price of SGD85 per head, the food name is simple, peking duck, deep fried conpoy, mango dessert with sago…. But the presentation and taste of the dishes are exquisitly delicious!!!! Can see that the Chef really puts in his heart to design and prepare the food. My favourite dish is the Crispy Rice soaked in Soup and the Doubled Boiled Quail Soup. The Crispy Rice is interesting as they deep fried the rice and then pour it into the soup with some cooked rice in it. Hence, there is a mix of crispy and soft rice. :) While for the doubled boiled quail soup, the taste is strong and smooth. Making one feels like having 2nd and 3rd helpings.

I was never really into Black Forest cakes, but after I tried the Black Forest cake from Secret Recipe, I have to say it's one of the nicer cakes I've ever had! So, I decided to go for dessert at Secret Recipe after dinner one day. I've tried Chocolate Banana and Mango Delight.

I must say Black Forest and Chocolate Banana are highly recommended cakes! There is a tasty chocolate layer on the cake that does not taste too rich and won't make you get sick of it so easily. The banana slices are huge slices buried within layers of the cake. What's good is that the taste of the banana is not covered by the chocolate and the bananas used are really sweet. As for the Mango Delight, the mango slices within the cake are the sweet and delicious mango, unlike other cakes that use half riped or sour mangoes.

Although I haven't tried the other cakes, but from the looks of it, the other cakes seem not bad too! Definitely a good place for desserts!

Interesting fusion food such as jap curry noodle and many others. If you're arent a big eater, do share with someone else as the portions are big. Great service too. Only gripe, long queues and its a tad pricy. :)

Gramophone is a little like HMV. Another major music store vying for the same group of consumers. Just like HMV, they have a whole collection of music CDs and videos of different genres. The atmosphere of the shop is very different from HMV. It gives a less commercialized feeling than HMV and, with all the dark-grained wooden furniture plus jazz or classical music they play most of the time, it gives the place a rather comfortable yet classy feel.

Plus I made a new discovery today (perhaps this has been out for awhile already)! Gramophone does rentals of movies now (maybe HMV does also?) and they reach out to people of different races in Singapore as they have not just English and Chinese movies, but quite a collection of Hindi movies as well! The price for movie rentals are about $5 per show, which is quite a fair price. Plus, with their wide variety of movies available, one is spoilt for choice! And for those interested in Bollywood movies, you can find quite a few good ones here.

    Highly recommended!

Lemongrass is quite a popular Thai restaurant with quite a few outlets around the island. I like their string beans a lot. One of my favourite dish! But one thing about this outlet is that it is always packed during dinner time, mostly on weekends. Because of that, service is not as efficient and it takes a long time before the food is served.

Nonetheless, I would say this place is worth a try :)

The lobster linguine is highly recommended at all Coffee Club outlets.

Also, the muddy mud pie is quite a good item to try. The food there is great, and it's an excellent place to dine at for chocolate lovers! Why? Because their chocolate flavoured stuff are really rich in chocolate, I'm sure you'll love this place if you're a chocolate fanatic!

However, despite the great food, I won't say I'd leave this place smiling. Great food does not go with lousy service, especially when the people there tend to forget your order. I think that's the worst thing one taking orders can do.

A small unit located somewhere in Parkway. Don't look down on this little shop, it sells many simple accessories that are suitable for ladies who are into the latest trends. It's a pity the place is really small, however the shop sells many items ranging from hairbands to rings, necklaces to earrings. This small shop allows one to find suitable accessories to match your clothes, and most importantly you don't need a long time to find something right because everything is displayed clearly and is easy to spot what you want.

Secondly, the items here are in an affordable range. For example, most necklaces cost less than $16, and they even have some earrings that are sold at 3 pairs of $9. They may be earrings that may cost $5 a pair at other shops selling similar accessories.

Last of all, the sales lady is really pleasant too! I was there not long ago to buy something. Before payment, the lady asked if I wanted to get a matching earring to go with it. I wanted to take a look at it and she offered to take it for me, even though there was a queue and it was not exactly very near. I was very pleased by her service and left the place feeling very happy.

A place selling nice items, with good service is where you'd really like to shop. I highly recommend this place!

I've seen many pepper lunch outlets around town area, and heard a lot about it. I decided to give it a try after hearing so much about it. I ordered a curry beef rice. It being my first time, I thought it was quite cool to see the dishes being served out on sizzling hot plates, and that we had to cook the meat ourselves and stir everything together. However, one thing I really disliked about the place was also the fact that we had to do the cooking ourselves. After all that smoke from our hotplate, we end up smelling like we just left a hawker centre. It stinks up your clothes and leave you feeling smelly for the rest of the day.

Secondly, this place does sell meat like salmon and beef, and would be slightly more expensive. However, I feel that the food is priced too high, with the cheapest dish being around $8 all the way to around $16 . It is not exactly worth the money. Plus, the side dishes are also really expensive. Unless it's once in awhile, I feel that this place is not a good place to patronize because of the high cost.

Movie tickets today are priced at different prices today, which can cost as high as $9.50 on weekends and public holidays. Despite this rocket high price, people are still willing to pay for it. However, many would prefer to catch a movie during the weekdays when ticket prices are cheaper. For people looking for a cheap place to catch a movie, this is the place you're looking for. On weekdays, tickets are priced at $5; on weekends, tickets are priced at arond $6.50. Nonetheless, the most expensive ticket you can get from this place is still cheaper than movie tickets at GV on weekdays.

However, do not expect much from a place like this. The place is not as well maintained as other cinemas. The aircon is not as strong as other cinemas and the seats are not as comfortable as those you can get from GV or Cathay. Also, despite the large seating capacity, the theatre is seldom more than half filled. But the place is good enough to stay in there for 2 hours or so.

If you're not particular about the air-conditioning or the environment, this is a good place to go. In addition, the rules there are less strict and you are allowed to bring in other food from elsewhere. People who frequent this cinema would normally take-away food from the nearby KFC or Macdonald's.
