Yong Tou Foo seems to be one of my favourite food becasue it is not too heavy for lunch. I have tried both the soup and dried one with bee boon and thin noodles from Earth Kitchen at International Plaza during lunch time. I have patronised it several times. I love the stock and it comes with soyabeans, very tasty and the chilli sauce with added sambal paste. It’s a little oily but is fine with me. The stock and the sauce make the difference. There is tau pok (dried bean curd) stuffed with minced fish paste and is slightly deep fried and it is not soggy when it comes with the soup order. Next is the fish paste sandwiched between 2 pieces of bean curd skin and also the soft, smooth, silken tofu topped with minced meat and fish paste and my favourite big, crunchy fish ball. The standard menu comes with 5 pieces and with noodles/bee hoon at a price of $4.60. The pieces are of reasonable size but the price is a bit stiff. Nevertheless I enjoy the yong tou foo.

Last week I was looking for a place to take beefsteak and I chance upon Hog's Breath Cafe (CHIJMES) thru Yebber. Yebber is quite a good source for dining out information. Read a few good comments about it and thought I gave it a try. Overall I was disappointed with the place. Firstly price of the food did not match the quality. It was a bit to pricey. Preparation of the food took too long. Must say the waiter did provide quite prompt serivce in getting extra cutleriy and serving us water upon our request. The ambience is nothing great and it was worsen when 2 waiters were arguing infront of the cashier counter. We spent an average $30/- each for 4 of us after a 15% discount using UOB credit card. I guess this will be my first and last time at this place. I am sure there are better steakplaces around. Shall continue to search thru YEBBER....

         Yong Tau Hu
By chance I spotted this Hakka Yong Tow Hu (YTH) restaurant along Changi Road. It's more of a coffee shop style with airconditioning ( but the air-con doesn't seem to work ). The price is standard $4, $5 or $6 per person. For the amount of food verses the price, I think it is reasonable. This restaurant does not serve YTH with noodles or bee hoon. It serves standard tow pok, tofu, bittergourd and chilli stuffed with fish and minced meat paste, minced meat rolled in beancurd skin and fish balls. The order is standard. It is the dry version served with soup, chill sauce and sweet fermented bean sauce. The soup is sprinkled with some chopped spring onion, simple and tasty. The presentation was simple and the amount of meat/fish paste stuffed are generous. I noticed a photo of the food critic, Mr KF Seetoh on display at the cash counter.

Can give this a try if you like non oily food.

i have read several reviews about HAN's Cafe and I am one who also frequents Han's cafe. Recently I was at Springleaf Tower branch for lunch. As usual there is the lunch time crowd. Service is so so. Food generally OK. The other outlets that I patronised during lunch time are at Robinsons Road and Arcade. Generally the service is Ok when they serve the lunch time office crowd. I have patronised the Park Mall, Marina Square outlets on week-ends. It is like food court and service is no good. My favourite branch is the Marine Parade branch and I like the silver fried fish and green salad and service. I normally visit this place on week-days and in the evening. I guess the timimg makes the difference. In generally I would say that the services at Hans other outlets can be improved and Hans must maintain the quality of their food in order to capture the market share of the customers as food business gets very competitive.

Quite a good place for lunch at is located at a corner of Clifford Centre. I have visited the place several times and more then often I will order the spaghetti with mushroom cream-sauce. It is not to creamy and is very tasty. I love the fresh mushrooms (there were 2 types but not sure of the names of the mushrooms) The spaghetti used to be a bit crunchy and the last I took it, it was a little soft. Could have been better if the spaghetti is a little crunchy but my friend liked it. I tried the grilled sandwich with roasted chicken and focaccia. It's superb. Price wise is reasonable and the most expensive order is 5 bucks. Ambience is a bit too noisy and place is a little cramp. Well what can one expect for this pricelist and the high rent at such a location but nevertheless the food is GOOD.
