having passed this branch quite often, me and my gf decided to try it 1 day.. friday dinner in exact.
Firstly the place. This branch is in the middle of the basement and not those typical at-the-side restaurant. It is open air and in fact, just beside the escalator. You can't missed it. But the disadvantage is... there are flies flying around!! ok.. not like army of flies.. Just 1 or 2. Can't be help i guessed cause it is openair...
Food wise, we took the 11.90 set meals which are available after 1130pm on weekdays. There are also 7.90 set meals. Very affordable i must say. It consists of main, salad or soup and coffee or tea.
I ordered steak cum chicken grilled while my gf got the fish fillet or something. Something i noticed.. the fish was not very cooked and tasted fishy. The steak and chicken set was better. The cheese baked potatoes in the main accompanying the meat were very nice! Portion was big too.
After which, we ate creme bulee or something lidat. It is a traditional french dessert ($5.50) This is very good. A definitely must-try. It consist of hot melted caramel on cold custard below it. Simply perfect. Quite different from those usual icecream waffle gimmick.
Service wise, it was ok. Though must keep reminding them to refill my water.
Overall, I must say.. go another branch which is not so open air. Do not try the fish dishes but the other dishes and must try the dessert~
Just collected my phone which was sent for repair. Won't be commenting on the quality of the phone.. hahha.. only on the centre.
This plae is mainly staffed by PRC Chinese in the past but recently, noticed there are more Singaporeans. In my opinion, the Singaporean staff can communicate better in English. Had some probs communicating to the PRCs but they were nevertheless friendly.
Queue time is especially fast on weekdays. It took around 5 min for your turn for both sending in and collection of your phone. Weekends sometime take almost half an hr.
Location wise, it is situated quite near to the entrance from City Link side. Thus quite convenient.
Went for supper here with my gf again this weekend.
Some of the new findings... There is 50% off for students from 4-6pm on weekdays. This is super cheap!
Anyway, during out supper. We had gourmet sausage main which costs around $16 . Consist of 3 types of sausages.. could only remember the curly snail sausage. haha..
We had some mocktail and chocolate. They were normal though. Didnt have the beer this time round.
The place consist of 2 sections, the inside air-conditioned section and the outside section above the punggol park lake on wooden platform. The view is good outside for those who want to bring their partners along.
The usual crowds are mostly teenagers and young adults. Sometime may see families around. Nice place to chill and have dinner or just some drinks. Lot of beer and wine selection.
was previously named something else. Kinda slipped my mind. Like metro, john little and such
Sell lots of stuff, mainly clothes, watches, bags, perfumes and cosmetics.
Just bought some clothes there last weekend. They seem to always have sales. Worth a look especially during festive season. Was having 20% off clothes the last time i looked.
Compared to Metro, the price here are cheaper. Compared to John little though, will be almost the same i think. As usual, queue will be longer during weekends. Took me aorund 5min for payment around mid Sunday afternoon.
Had lunch here yesterday. Think this is one of the new Hong Kong Cafe branches. There is another at East Coast Park.
It is situated on the second floor of the Bugis Village. The stuff available are the usual Hong Kong stuff.
Variety wise, there is far less than other Hong Kong cafes. Me and my gf had the following:
1) Beef Curry with rice $6.80 - This is superb. The curry is just nice. Not those indian or malay curry but more like perankan style curry. It is a bit thick but savoury and nice. Not too spicy also. The beef is tender. Only drawback is potato is a bit hard, though already far softer than most other cafes. My gf commented it's ok though.. maybe just me.. "chi ruan bu chi ing" hahha.. MUST TRY.
2) Baked pork cutlet spaghetti $6.90 - This is just normal thoguh it taste a bit different. Portion is small though. Would prefer other Hong Kong cafes 1 (kim gary at vivo)
3) Mango Pomelo Ice blended $3.30 - This is a very refreshing drink. lots of pomelo and mango pieces in it. Nice.
4) Cold Chocolate $3.50 - "Stole" some of this from my gf.. haha.. at first tot it will be like ice milo. But it really taste like ice choco. Can try if you like chocolate.
Overall, the food is ok. Just that they are served warm instead of piping hot. Good and bad depending on your preference. Price wise, they are ok. Somemore, there is no service charge (also mean you need to get your food from the counter yourself. unless the food not ready yet)
Service personnel are ok. Small place though and easily full.
